ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Custom Caltrop 5 Chaff Guns: The flechettes fired from the gun are coated with a variant of Dust transmitters that broadcast over encrypted subspace channels. They have a short life span of about 3-4 hours, and have a relatively short transmission range - within a sector/hex wide area. However, within Concord space, friendly satellites capable of receiving subspace transmissions can actively track the progress of a ship during transit, enabling triangulation and astro-locating in real time.
  • SLAM: At the cost of maneuverability, ships engines can go into overdrive for a temporary burst of speed. A feature ideal for running down other vessels or punching through enemy point defenses during attack runs, or quickly fleeing the area. After each use of SLAM, dedicated energy reservoirs need approximately five minutes to replenish before the next boost.
  • Pulsemass Generator Mine: The single tube launched mine can be deployed to generate false realspace masses to prevent ships from jumping to hyperspace, or pulling them out of hyperspace. However, unlike a fullsized gravity well generator, the pulsemass mines have a relatively small range of effect.
STRENGTHS
  • Hunter - Bristling with heavy weaponry and a robust tracking suite, it excels in its intended role to search and disable pirate vessels large and small. In large fleeting engagements, the gunships work well in a picketing capacity.
WEAKNESSES
  • Numbers - Within a concentrated area, the gunships can saturate a space with huge torrents of firepower, but their low numbers mean the lack of the physical coverage of a standard sized squadron. While it may usually be a suicide mission for starfighters and other attack craft to target an Aquillian head on, they may opt to make an attempt to skip around if nimble enough.
DESCRIPTION

Inspired by the likes of the K-wing, Skipray Blastboat, and Kobold Assault Corvettes, engineers of the SJO Starfighter Corps crafted a new series of beefy gunships capable of extended patrols and strike missions in deep space with limited support from fleets. Their primary role is for anti-piracy/slaver operations, actively tracking and neutralizing small raider formations and their bases. To that end, they are not only armed to the teeth with weapons, but also powerful sensor suites, comm decryption modules, and subspace tracking transmitters. To further augment their detection capabilities during patrols, each Aquillian can deploy sensor drones over a system wide area.

Local security forces and defensive units within Concord space have also found use of the Aquillians as affordable terrestrial defense platforms against planetary raiders sporting capital ships, a full squadron able to pummel even the likes of a cruiser or a destroyer like the B-wings of old. In the rare event of a full-scale invasion, Aquillians can effectively shift to razing enemy transports, mass ground formations and capital-grade vehicles/warbeasts in a heavy bombing role. If the opposition cannot be outright destroyed, then the gunships can at least allow defenders to hold off against attackers until relief forces arrive.

In large fleeting engagements, the Aquillian's loadout also makes it useful for the purposes of picketing - screening against flanking maneuvers, scouting, and harassing enemy capital ships at a distance with its rail cannons and energy torpedo launchers while flitting outside the envelope of enemy point defenses.

  • And one more thing, the Defences, it is more than Average. The Electronic Countermeasures and physical defences are add up. So please explain why this is only average, or I suggest to mention the shields are weaker than the average, and with that, it will be good.

Hello,

I filled out the required fields with "N/A".

I removed the screamer jammer. The chaff guns on their own provide some jamming capability by virtue of belching out a bunch of shrapnel to confuse sensors, but it's more of a side effect of its mechanics and it's nowhere near as powerful as a true ECM suite. In practice it would probably spoof some basic missiles and torpedoes, but not something more powerful like vehicle-based active targeting sensors or more sophisticated Brilliant/advanced homing missiles. For that reason, I think it qualifies as part of an average defense.

Thank you! Yes, but the average defences usually using only one shields, not two different one, and you mentioened the Reinforced Duraplast Armor Plating with Ablative Coating as well. And these are too much for an Average defences, because the ship has advanced/expanded ECM as well. This is why I said, if you mention, the shields are weaker than the average, it will be good and acceptable, but in this form, this is still High.

Okay, so I bumped up the defense to high, then reduced the production to limited to compensate.
