The Aperion Core
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Similarly to the monolith at the heart of the Bubble of the Lost in the Chiloon Rift, the Aperion Rift Engine creates a localized bubble with a radius of twenty kilometers where time is bent outwards instead of inwards, warping the space-time continuum so that objects, facilities, and lifeforms within the bubble maintain their relative distance to each other. The result, while not nearly as powerful as the actual monolith, creates a time dilation bubble where six months may pass within the bubble while only a single day passes outside the rest of the galaxy.
- The Aperion Core at the center of the device is powered through a combination of a Sun Generator modified to maintain and create a miniature black hole instead of a star and alchemized kyber crystals attuned to the Cosmic Force energies to provide it with an unlimited amount of power to fuel both the device and the sorcerous constructs within it that create the bubble.
- The Aperion Rift Engine creates a twenty-kilometer time dilation bubble that warps the space-time continuum so objects, facilities, and lifeforms within the bubble experience a Galactic Standard Day as six Galactic Standard Months.
- If the Aperion Core within the device is ever subjected to light side Force Powers or is disrupted in a way that breaks the containment field of the modified Sun Generator within it, the entire bubble and device will warp in upon itself. The resulting gravitational and entropic forces would tear apart everything that had been within the bubble at the time of failure, reducing them to atoms and likely creating a twenty-kilometer crater if the device is placed on a planet.
The result of long years of research and study, the Aperion Rift Engine began as a project within the Order of Arcane Syn under the direct supervision of Nerralyn Raaf, the eldest daughter of Darth Arcanix. Nerralyn had spent many years researching the capabilities of the Force and how it could potentially warp space and time to its wielder's will, developing techniques and theories in her pursuit of a familial goal. While that goal would be mitigated somewhat as the Raaf family situation resolved itself through reconciliation, the project under the codename Project Teferi, continued and grew into a more focused project on time manipulation and dilation.
The Order of Arcane Syn, through collaboration with their Kainate allies, had been able to study the Mortis monolith for several years and its peculiar effects on time along with studies of the monolith at the heart of the Chiloon Rift. While they could not replicate the exact powers and technology within either monolith, Darth Arcanix and Nerralyn steadily worked on a series of sorcerous rituals and designs that could somewhat replicate their effects on a more localized scale. The result of their research, with work beginning in 900 ABY, was the Aperion Rift Engine. Named for the aspect of the Force described by Darth Plagueis in his writings that handled time and space, the new device utilized a modified Sun Generator to create a miniature black hole that was then controlled through alchemized kyber crystals. Sorcerous runes were then carved precisely into prepared edifices of basalt and obsidian, arranged in a particular pattern that when the device was activated, would create a time dilation bubble.
The bubble, unlike the typical effect of a black hole, bent time outwards instead of drawing it inwards, creating a situation where anything within the twenty-kilometer bubble experienced time faster than anything outside the bubble. According to the predictions of the two Raafs and observations of the first test run of the device, anything within the bubble experienced six Galactic Standard Months of time for every Galactic Standard day that passed in the galaxy outside the bubble. A permanent installation of the device would be planned as part of the Order's Project Eternal.
