Seren Gwyn
White Star
The steady hum of machinery filled the hangar aboard Varin's ship as Seren waited near the designated landing area. She arrived early, giving herself plenty of time to contemplate a long-overdue reunion. It had been years since she had seen Dante, and the little boy she remembered was now fifteen. She wondered how much of him she would recognize, and how much of the person he had become would be unfamiliar to her.
Their separation had not been entirely beyond her control. Seren had chosen not to return to Alderaan after leaving the Jedi, and the years that followed had provided countless opportunities to reconsider that decision. Yet another expedition, another unanswered question, or another reason to postpone confronting the family she had left behind had always appeared. She could hardly blame Dante for resenting her absence.
Her amber eyes turned toward the hangar entrance as the expected arrival drew nearer. She had faced Sith, Jedi, and creatures from the Netherworld with far less apprehension than she felt as she waited for her youngest brother. The realization brought a faint, rueful smile to her lips.
"Well, Seren," she murmured to herself, "you've certainly had enough time to prepare for this."
She folded her hands loosely in front of her and waited for the shuttle carrying Dante to arrive.
