An Un-Common Sight (CSA Dominion of Thakosia/Shador Hex)

Darben scowled over at [member="Darlyn Excron"] and Mia, he did not like that remark from his bodyguard. Then someone he did not know started speaking. "Kid?" he said, glancing to Mia who was equally offended at being called a 'thing'. She pointed her rifle toward just in front their feet, and 'accidentally' pulled the trigger. "Oh, sorry. Misfire." That made Darben laugh a little.

He then waited, as Darlyn announced a strategy. Admittedly, he lost all hope as soon as he said 'do not attack'. What were they to do then? Then again, Darlyn was the strategist here, not Darben, so he knew better than to question him. "So...we wait?" He sat down, immediately bored. An idea came to mind, to pass the time though. "While we wait...who's up for a game of sabacc? A quick one." Probably wasn't the best of ideas. But it was all he had to pass the time, till they moved.

"Are you sure assaulting the station and being the first ones in its line of fire is really a good idea?"

"That's not for you to decide. Besides, we can't die. It's just a simulation. Bring the Corvettes infront of us and have the fighters screen for any incoming."

The human paused for a second considering just exactly how they were going to board the ship and how they were actually going to overpower the defenders, and upon seeing the enemy fighters incoming she turned headtail to make way for something to get her aboard the Orbital station. "Uh Brigsby is going to be in charge of you all, I just realized putting my trust in the incompetents in those transport shuttles is idiotic at the very worst."

Several of the command staff turned their heads to the small man, wondering exactly why she had placed him in charge given how low of a rank he was. "You heard her! Have all fighters engage those X-Wings going for the shuttles! Have one of the squadrons hold back for LaForte to be transported on-board."

<->

Natalie's heels clicked as she ran from the elevator to one of the fighters, some of them launching as she reached them. Eventually, there was one empty one left, where she promptly got the equipment needed and clipped herself in. Quite literally, after being given a crash course of how not to make the ship explode, she was sitting fearfully in the cockpit, allowing the auto-pilot to do most of the work for her as she swooped into formation with the rest of her squadron.

Team B: Kei Raxis | Lauri Törni
Strategy: Arguing, because the blonde asked for vehicles...

Kei had made a rather simple plan. The three of them moving together as a team while he used the Force to scan for enemies. Granted, it was simple but it could work. The only problem was that the Jedi made no suggestion regarding additional troop support. Even the military officer Lauri was eager to move with the plan. Kei might be forgiven because he was a Jedi and not in military. But the blonde was trying her best to figure out why an officer of Commenor would rush head on into a war exercise without even briefing the troops on the movement of advancement. No one seemed to remembered what [member="Lady Kay"] had allowed. The availability of vehicles and ground troops.

She wanted to facepalm. Almost wanted to. But she was wearing her helmet and decided against slapping her palm against the metal.

"I totally hate to break the news, boys... but we are allowed to order some troops around."

She gestured towards her back that was still empty, but low rumbling noises were approaching from the distance. Soon the sound of engines were roaring as a Hellstorm Heavy Assault Tank popped out of view. Then a AIT Grinder Anti-Infantry Tank and a AT-AVW. A few Hardback Troop Transports concluded the vehicle force, filled with General Purpose Infantry recruits.

"I have rounded up a few rides to save us some walking. I recommend we send out a light recee team to scout out the base and the other team. Once we scouted their location, we will move but do not engage. Let the other team assault the base first. While they are busily fighting among themselves, we pounce from the rear for a surprise ambush."

The intelligence agent pointed to a flight of hover bikes manned by the scout team which was ready to move in.

"Additional information, we can try and radio our team's fleet to give us some firepower from space. Technically, that's not cheating... as long as [member="Mythos"], [member="Natalie LaForte"] or [member="Than Balthor"] can spare us their ships' availability. Even one ship will be more than sufficient to rain down hell... in this case, coloured smoke simulating artillery fire."

Lauri swore at himself. He knew he had forgotten something, and the availability of reinforcements was it. His own platoon was nearby, and he could call them up. Lauri looked over the armored force, formulating ways they could be used. He also began considering their drawbacks. The tanks were loud, but fast. Stealth would help keep their position a secret, which would save them from some casualties, but the tanks would make up for that. Another idea formed in his head.

"We can begin moving out towards the base, and use the scouts to ensure the way is clear. At the same time a secondary recon group can find the enemy position. Once the enemy has been located, we send the majority of our forces to attack them, while a company orders an airstrike on the generator. I can have an infantry platoon move up behind us as reinforcements."

Lauri continued thinking of other ways his platoon could be put to use, but for now reinforcments were the best idea.

General Omar Santiago stood near one of the towers of the military base that stood at the center of this little exercise. There was hardly a time that he had left Commenor, usually going no further than one of it's twin moons. Yet now? Now was a time for him to see if the ground forces from the newest members of the Systems Alliance were up to the task of defending against and attacking an enemy. These games weren't all one sided. They encompassed all aspects. It was through these games that will determine where their weakest links were. Santiago had dreamed of such a big exercise and now that time was now.

His stare never wavered as he lowered his binoculars, having caught sight of some of the attacking teams making their way across the landscape. He touched his finger to his ear, activating a special commlink that was tucked inside his ear.

"Ready yourselves. They're bringing in some heavy vehicles. The trenches should be big enough. Hold your ground. Weapons to stun. Missle launchers, wait for my mark and aim for vectors 3.0 and 4.8, Spotters hold your positions until they've passed you. Santiago out."

Again the binoculars were brought up to his eyes while the other hand was raised in the air. Days before, Santiago had some of the officers dig huge trenches that were 8 meters across, 5 meters deep and 20 meters wide in almost clockwork positions around the base, filled them with water and lay brown tarps over top of them. On top of the tarps were a thin layer of dirt and various bushes and grasses that gave off the illusion of solid ground. There were solid spaces between them however. It was a first line of defense that he had prepared. And what a surprise it would be.

From the depths of space, the four durasteel giants appeared with the sound of an abrupt splash of dense weight appearing out of the void, the QueensGuard Battle-Cruiser in the lead flanked by the Vindicator Class Escort Cruiser and upon the other side, the Dreadnaught Class Heavy Cruiser; behind the three of them loomed The Matriarch for whom had begun to draw power to her offensive armaments in preparation for the battle to come.

"Forward Shields to maximum", Vikras Ansion ordered his people, the bridge coming to life as their opposition was now in view, from this distance visible dots upon the blackened horizon with their objective between them. Looking down to his station, the Admiral soon activated the broad-range communications intent on extending his co-operation to their given team-mates, [member="Cassius Droma"] and [member="Abelain Narv'uk"], for the exercise. "Jade Leader, this is Admiral Ansion. We're pulling you up on our scanners. Priority target is the Orbital Station. Preliminary scans are detecting squadrons being launched from her primary hangar, engage as you see fit. The QueensGuard will target the enemy fleet"; unlike Veiere Arenais, Vikras was a well experienced Commander in such times of war. Despite this being a training exercise and the general atmosphere around their people was rather lax because of their awareness of the fact, he however was determined to take it all seriously. "NightShadow, this is Ansion. Position yourself Port-side of the Objective. Have your fighters intercept enemy squadrons and prepare to take to the flank of the oppositions fleet. Once we come around Starboard, we will engage from either side...".

While everything was happening so quickly upon the bridge of the Queensguard, the revelation of a fleet of Interceptors and fighters coming from the Orbital Station changed the situation somewhat dramatically and forced Veiere Arenais to make a decision that was unfortunately like much of this affair, not akin to his typical expertise. En-route to one of the Hangars aboard the QueensGuard, her maintainence bay crew were already getting underway to prepare his X-Wing Fighter for launch...

There were many ways to go about a battle, and the study of those different ways was a school unto itself. Entire philosophies and cultures had dedicated themselves to perfecting the art, and whilst it was clear that none had grown so masterful over the subject that they would never be unchallenged by any others, some had gotten quite decent at the act. Of course, for any person to become adept at the art, they had to spend time practicing with it, learning the subtle nuances of situation that differentiated proper responses, to gain a better understanding of when it was best to fire, and best to flee, and best simply to stand back and allow time to tick onward.

Abelain was by no means a fleet commander nor an admiral of any kind. He had read of those persons who had commanded vast and nigh unbeatable fleets, who had grown powerful and mighty through their many victories. Those sorts were fascinating to study, because they clearly demonstrated a prowess unknown by most. The Arue'tii on the other hand had only ever commanded one fleet engagement, and whilst it had been fairly successful, it would be impossible to say that all goals had been accomplished as well as they could have been. After all, many lives had been sacrificed to achieve some semblance of victory.

Thankfully, it was growing gradually apparent that his enemies had little experience in fleet combat either.
"Sir, one of the enemy fleets is approaching our forces directly. They are alone."
The Arue'tii nodded his acceptance of that, dismissing the officer back to wherever she had appeared so that she could continue to seek out further information on the enemy movements.
"Direct the long-range turbolasers on the Paladin to fire on the enemy Star Destroyer."
Several seconds passed, and then the vivid light of a turbolaser came into view, gradually growing steadily distant until it had grown near the enemy vessel. He was curious as to how the weapons fire was being simulated at such long ranges... perhaps they were launching small discs equipped with holographic weapons fire and sensors meant to indicate whether they had stricken an enemy vessel?

"The King is opening a hail." The officer from before shouted out from her console, hand already moving to accept the call as the Arue'tii turned to face the projector. It felt somewhat strange being under the service of a monarch, especially since he had spent the majority of his life under a Council system, but he supposed that there was not so much difference between a tyrant and a king, and he had served the former twice in the form of both his uncle and the One Sith Emperor.

"As you request." He uttered after the orders had been relayed. "Direct the Maia Interceptors to screen the Objective. Focus fire on enemy transports, but weapons are free to fire on station defenses if necessary. Try to stay out of their range if possible. "

"Navigator, bring us about to the Portside of the enemy fleet. All ships, follow us. Keep the Paladin's guns firing on that Star Destroyer as long as possible."

As the invasion commenced, Eddak was deliberating with the pilots of the transport. After they started entering the planets atmosphere, enemy fighters could be seen coming towards them on an intercept course. Eddak was just returning to the soldiers and grabbing onto the railing overhead for support when suddenly the comms started erupting. "Enemy bogies inbound!"/"Everyone hold on, this is gonna get bumpy!"/"Enemy fighters opening up on us!"/"Red Eagle is hit, commencing emergency landing!"/"It's a damn lightshow out here!" Eddak signalled to one of his troopers to open the transports doors, and immediately opening it he saw one of the transports beside him take a hit; a simulated explosion erupted on the wing of the LAAT and it veered off course. "Everyone hold on!" Eddak shouted. "We've got no cover out here, sir! We're dropping like flies!" cried out one of the troopers. "That's none of your concern, trooper! Keep your wits about you!" Eddak replied. He had hoped the fleet would support the ground invasion, but he was rushing it a bit. He felt he arrived late, so he wanted to make sure anyone assaulting the ground target had support. "Listen, when we touch down, be prepared for weapons fire immediately. Hopefully, we're just out of range of their heavy weapons, but their soldiers will have us in their range. When we touch down, do not hesitate; jump out, lay prone on the ground in a circle around the LAAT and provide covering fire! You hesitate, you're gone! Do you understand?" Eddak yelled to the troopers in his LAAT and over the comms, and just minutes before they touched, everyone responded 'sir, yes sir.'

As the transports landed, everyone jumped out. Grenades were already hitting his troopers and laser fire was covering the ground. "Move, move, move!" Eddak said as he pushed some of the troopers out, before jumping to the ground himself. He grabbed one of his personal guards and pulled them over, just witnessing one of his troopers getting pummeled with laser fire trying to get off the transport. "Feth.... how far out is support? We can't even stand up in this mess!" Eddak asked, speaking right up against the troopers helmet. "Last reported position was 11 clicks out, sir!" "You tell them we're getting lit up like a bug zapper out here, they need to double time it." The trooper curled over away from Eddak and radiod on his long ranged radio, unencrypted, informing the reinforcement battalion. The forward assault groups could just barely see the ground target, but any closer and they'd be within accurate range of their heavy defenses.

As the orders came in, Cassius nodded. Going straight for the kill – he could do that. “Copy that, Admiral,” Cassius said, “we’ll be engaging shortly.” Cassius flicked his sensors to start scanning the orbital station’s defenses and the large amount of fighters being deployed. Seemed to be just a bunch of basic X-wings – their A-wings would be able to fly circles around them. It was the sheer numbers he was worried about.

Luckily, the enemy forces seemed to already be mounting their own attack, and as it was a larger force than the taskforce he was in command of, the orbital station’s defenses would no doubt be focused more on them than his fighters. “All squadrons, we’re heading straight for the orbital station,” Cassius called out, gripping the control stick as he primed his engines to maximum efficiency. “Fighters, let’s engage those X-wings and give our bombers cover while they start probing that shield.”

The other squadron leaders rang out in confirmation, and Cassius went full throttle ahead. Jade Squadron took point, zooming ahead and engaging the X-wings head on. Hunter and Emerald Squadrons stuck closer to the bombers in order to protect them. They had faith in Jade Squadron to punch a hole in the defenses and let the Y-wings through.

In a move most often used in Cassius’s repertoire, Jade Leader fired a dummy concussion missile at one fighter and then quickly engaged another with his laser cannons, hoping to take them both out at roughly the same time. He kept his speed at near maximum, weaving around in order to evade the X-wing’s laser cannons. With the RZ-X’s vastly superior speed and maneuverability, he knew he’d be able to keep out of their crosshairs. He just hoped that he was taking out X-wings and distracting the others enough in order for their Y-wings to start hitting the station.

Strike Force Green:
- Jade Squadron (RZ-X A-wing Interceptors) [12/12]
- Hunter Squadron (RZ-1 A-wing Interceptors) [12/12]
- Emerald Squadron (RZ-1 A-wing Interceptors) [12/12]
- Mantis Squadron (RAF-02 Y-wing Bombers) [12/12]
- Verdant Squadron (RAF-02 Y-wing Bombers) [12/12]

Summary of Actions:
- Jade Squadron directly engages the X-wings around the orbital station.
- Hunter and Emerald Squadrons stay close to Mantis and Verdant Squadrons while engaging X-wings. Mantis and Verdant head to the station to hit it with proton bombs.

Orbit was late, as were the other royal guards in the detachment that had been sent to the war games. The datawork to transfer the royal guards to a temporary command concerning the war games had been immense and confusing. It had taken far longer than it should have to get them out of the Queen's protection staff and onto the battlefield. Orbit looked around the troops he would be leading, the thought of his recent promotion bringing a small grin to his face, they wore the most combat like uniforms the royal guards wore, a light blue uniform with half a dozen gold lapels from their chest to their belt. They were each equipped with WESTAR M5 Rifles and WESTAR 35 Pistols, a fairly standard array of weapons, but they usually didn't sport any weapons larger than a side arm. Whatever they lacked in equipment, they made up in training, the royal guard were highly trained in VIP protection, hand to hand combat, and close quarters fighting. Not only that, but they were a mean fighting machine, conditioned to put their lives before that of the royalty and those they chose to protect.

The transport softly set down on the ground outside the area where, [member="Lauri Törni"], [member="Mariya Fleischer"], and [member="Kei Raxis"] were planning the fight ahead. Once Orbit had successfully taken his troops off of the transport, both he and the transport, both made their departure. Orbit walked up to the group, and announced his introduction, "My name is Farlon Orbit, I'm here as part of the detachment of Commenori Royal Guards that has been added to this team for the war games. I don't mean to impose, but would any of you mind catching me up on our strategy here?"

Strategy: Undecided

"So you propose we attack the other team... when the winning objective is to capture the base?"

Mariya looked at Lauri in puzzlement, who seemed to be in a different league that she could not comprehend. "We don't win by wiping out the opposition. Like... zero points. We win by capturing a neutral base that is being maimed by General Omar Santiago. Perhaps you can explain why you wish for us to waste resources to engage another team while abandoning the real objective?"

The whole discussion so far seemed to be failing. A Jedi who was keeping mum. A military officer who loved the idea of engaging an enemy team when the orders were to capture a different base. And now there was a new guy who came in and asked for the strategy when there was nothing decided.

"There's no decision yet, Farlon. Perhaps you can provide some additional insight. Both officer Lauri and I have suggested a different take on the strategy."

The blonde was getting annoyed. If these were the finest that Commenor could offer... thank the stars this was just a training exercise.

"While we decide, let's send out the recon scouts."

The scouts on the hover bikes were certainly pleased to see some action as they sped off, the sensors on the bikes scanning the immediate surroundings for Team B's position and the base to capture.

Royal guards. They'd come in handy when bolts started flying. The blonde was starting to get on Lauri's nerves. His first plan had admittedly been stupid, but he was not saying they focus down the enemy. Lauri took a breath to compose himself.

"I am not saying we attack the opposition with everything we have. I'm saying we find them, and use our armor to distract them while everything else takes the shield down. I get the feeling they had the same idea you had, and are waiting to hit us in the rear. This tactic would save us from that, even if they don't plan to, it'd give us more time. Time we need, since we've spent so long arguing."

Hopefully the blonde would see reason. Of course, civvies rarely did in combat situations.

Kei had leant against a tree, arms crossed while the duo bickered. He'd even grinned slightly when the third member of his team turned up and joined the bickering. He was against the soliders turning up but he chose to remain quiet, maybe they could use them to the advantage. He wasn't sure how, he wasn't [member="Arekk"] and he couldn't command ground forces but he knew that they'd find a good way to twist the soldiers and use them to do something.

He was against an all out attack. It didn't make sense to him, they could sneak through the battle easier with Kei feeling out in the force and sensing the locations of the enemy. Once they had the locations, one easy sniper shot and they could move on to the next opponent. Wasting resources on an all out attack made no sense to him, it made very little sense from a militaristic stand point to be wasting resources like that.

"Here's the deal. If we move on an all out attack, we waste resources. If we move out slowly, just the four of us we can take shots at the others when I feel their presence in the area. We don't end up wasting resources then, plus the guards don't get used. Seems unfair to be using other forces, that was never in the rules and so twisting the rules like that seems stupid, it seems unfair to the opposite team"

Objective: Take charge and move on, it seems.
Allies: Darben and Orion
Enemies: [member="Kei Raxis"], [member="Lauri Törni"], [member="Mariya Fleischer"]

"Of course..." Darlyn continued, motioning scouts to head out and observe positions regardless of what was going on otherwise at their base of operations. "If they're not going to make a move, by default we must make our own. Therefore, should our opponents be waiting for ours to be the first strike, I would prefer it be swift and certain. If we cannot whittle away our opponents resources we will cut them down before such will be a problem. The base held by the good General is the primary goal, and has certain tactical value. Should we gain entry, the confined spaces will limit enemy options."

"So, why not make maximum use of that? General Santiago will have well entrenched his troops but there will be an access point somewhere. Our scouts will find this unguarded or minimally guarded entry point, at which we will employ a classic technique. We bring our big vehicles around to fire on the main entryway, and send a strike team through the now even less attentive back door. From there the strike team takes the objective, sets traps, and prepares for the inevitable attempt to flush them out with grenades and the Force. All the while the main force only fires on the front entryway as a distraction from a safe enough distance, not attempting to make entry. We want the enemy to try and take advantage of our 'foolish' plot which will be, in fact, a ruse. With our forces so distant, 'casualties' will be minimum while we rush the objective. Take that, and the game may as well be ours. Santiago will be faced with enemies on two fronts, and Santiago will further be our own defence between us and the enemy."

Plan A was still to wait and whittle both Santiago and the other team down, but plan B would be initiated if the enemy was either too indecisive to make a move or passive. Considering [member="Darben Skirae"] was defaulting to Darlyn's judgement and @Orian Vikarson was saying absolutely nothing, it was safe to assume Darlyn was doing what he did best and pretending to know what he was doing while taking charge of the situation. While at the same time having zero experience or idea what he was doing and moving with the flow.

Still, he at least sounded like he knew what he was doing. And with the scouts already fanning out in a standard, effective search pattern and receiving data on the emitter guarded by Santiago's forces, and relatively little on their oppossing team. With so little going on, Darlyn was just about ready to initiate plan B instead of A, all things considered. He was starting to get antsy, he really *really* wanted to punch someone in the face with a beskar plated glove.

He hadn't gotten to do that yet. It seemed like fun.

"So, Mia, Darben, Orion, whoever else feels comfortable coming with for plan B, you have any objections to hopping on speeders, bombarding their front door, and finding a vent or something to crawl into the base through?"

Darben Skirae looked to Darlyn as he began about their plan B. When Darlyn asked for objections, Darben had many. But Mia saw the face Darben pulled and gave him a shoulder shove, and a reassuring look. "I...guess I don't" he said. After all, none of this could end badly for them. It was just a big game. "I can find a vent" he added, and Mia nodded. "I can too...someone's gotta watch his back." As long as he got out of the shooting as best he could, he would be fine. He took his blaster in hand, and waited for Darlyn to point the way to said speeders for Plan B, as he did not feel like waiting around for much longer here.

Natalie's hands were grabbing at the controls of the Maia Class interceptor that she had foolishly decided to take control of, though nothing was moving in response to what she was attempting to do. Autopilot, eh? Her fist slammed into the control console disabling said autopilot. Almost immediately, her fighter fell out of formation with the others, sticking out like a sore thumb as they began assaulting the many X-Wings that had been launched. Her other fist had slammed into what seemed to be the communications console, bringing up some image of another pilot.

"Hello? Nothing's working."

The other pilot sighed and immediately shut off the transmission, passing her over to the Admiral in charge.

"Brigsby? Brigsby? Oh I must say you look a lot better on screen. The lighting is very flattering for you."

The officer turned around, his cheeks turning red like ember before opening his mouth.

"We're professionals... Anyway. Sit tight, you'll be assaulting the station with the transports."

Natalie's head spun around to see the transports almost directly behind her, some now overtaking, weapons firing directly at any incoming fighter craft. The much large command ship, the Avant Garde, was now hovering directly above her, similarly firing its weapons.

"Whatever Brigsby."

Her hands once again clutched what seemed to be the controls, immediately sending the fighter off at a break neck speed and well ahead of the transport craft. Rather than listen to the frustration from Brigsby, she closed the transmission immediately after and began firing the crafts weapons, which at this distance were doing next to nothing.

The Jedi spoke. About time. Though he went on to talk about fairness in the battlefield. Fairness? The last time Mariya remembered a battle playing out fair was... never.

"Kei, I think... battles ain't meant to be fair. And the Queen herself has authorised the usage of additional troops, including vehicles and ships for air strikes. So, it's all within the rules. However, I think we should reach an agreement soon."

She paused, pondering for a second. "How about this? Let's split up. I guess we can hand over the main troops to officer Lauri here for movement tactics. Meanwhile, Kei can use a spare hover bike or something to try and detect the forces if our scouts fail. I'll tag along with either team, though I am better than stealth than ordering troops around."

A compromise to all ideas. Probably not too bad to start things rolling. While the rest were still thinking, she asked the troops to make some room for them in one of the troop transport carriers. A ride would be better than walking until the need for them to disembark. Meanwhile, the communication lines was open to her team's ships to ask for firepower support.

"Calling [member="Mythos"], [member="Natalie LaForte"] or [member="Than Balthor"]. This is ground team. Checking for the possibility of a spare ship to be available for a bombing run, over."

General Santiago had already given his mark, lowering his arm for those watching him to see, while his other held the binoculars so that he could see further in the distance. As he did so, the missle launchers were activated, sending smoke missles towards Eddak's troops, them being the first to arrive. Not only did the missles give off a concussion like blast, but they emitted plenty of smoke providing a thick cover that worked well to further hide the trenches that he had created.

The spotters on the otherhand were watching from the trees, camouflaged well enough. They were armed with net launchers. A series of traps had been set as well that when triggered would bring large nets up from the ground capable of slowing down or stopping small personal vehicles. A little primative, maybe, but effective in the way of it being surprising.

He brought his finger to his ear, signalling his comm frequency, the steely expresdion on his face never changing. ~The enemy won't hesitate for long. They lack the experience to engage. That doesn't mean you can drop your guard. Don't let them penetrate the base. Santiago out.~

He already had it set in to his mind for when he'd fall back. If their defences were breached he planned on being in the room with the shield generator to face them head on. Most people were intimidated by him and he was going to use that to his advantage.

It had begun. The fleet had moved in to intercept, and its allies were moving in to assault the installation. The orders for the Royal-class Cruisers to move in and support the Queensguard; one, commanded by Admiral Vruumond, lined up to escort the Matriarch, and order the other two to escort the Queensguard. Retreat was not an option. "All power to forward shields, we are the Matriarchs shield," Admiral Vruumond gave the order to take a position in front of the Matriarch that would take most of the fire from the enemy, they were shutting down their primary weapons for this job. "Escort Cruisers, begin supporting the Queensguard with anti-fighter and anti-cruiser firing missions, if Admiral Ansion gives you an order to fire, you accept that order. You will become an extension of their main batteries. Now, take forward positions. We are our allies shields, nothing will get passed us!" The Admiral stood on the bridge with his arms held behind his back, looking stern and prepared. His mission was simple, protect his allies. As long as we took damage, the primary hitters wouldn't. And if they did, we would try our best to aggro them. "King Eddak, the fighting has begun," he radio'd over long-range comms, as his ship started to take fire. They were well within the installations range, and taking a beating. With Eddaks planned position, the Admiral knew the comm may not reach him, or reach him in an opportune time, but he sent the message anyway. The Cruisers fighters compliment thus launched, but they were given other orders. They headed for the personal ship of [member="Abelain Narv'uk"] , shielding him from enemy fighters, but they were old Tie Fighters. "This is Admiral Vruumond of the Galderra Assault Squa-" comms flickered as the ship took another hit, "This is Admiral Vruumond, by order of King Eddak, I've been given instructions to support all allies. Commander [member="Cassius Droma"] , should you need covering fire by some capital-class weaponry, all you need is ask, and we will send a ship to cover your fighters." Of course it may not be necessary to cover fighters with fighters, but in case they met with an anti-fighter cruiser, Cassius' interceptors would have support. "Come on, Eddak," the Admiral whispered, "punch through those lines."

To get the ball rolling, it seemed [member="Veiere Arenais"] X-wing had launched from its hangar bay, and was heading into the fray. One of the officers on the bridge started speaking up, however, getting the attention of the admiral of the situation of a Maia Interceptor breaking off from Abelain's formation. The comm officer proceeded to hail Abelain, alerting them. "Maia Interceptor, this is Admiral Vruumond of the Royal-class Cruiser 'Pretentious', you've broken off from formation, please respond." Veiere's X-Wing was also notified of the situation and moved to intercept ([member="Natalie LaForte"]).

On the ground was a completely different story; Eddak was still heavily pinned and it seemed like there was no way out. He was losing his recruits left and right, and he was shouting that they needed their reinforcements now. Just as all seemed to be lost, the Ultra-Light Assault Vehicles had swarmed in around Eddak and his infantry. Finally, they had cover. But that had no means of anti-air support and the fighters were looming over head. "Everyone, find a position to get suppressive fire on those trenches! I need fortified positions, now! Let's move!" Eddak rushed up to his feet and moved forward, taking a knee with his slugthrower and opening up. Slowly but surely, the other troopers fell in line as the Ultra-Light Assault Vehicles took positions in front of them. "Listen," he grabbed at one of his escort troopers, "tell those assault vehicles to hold their positions! We have to fortify this spot, even if it means they go down! And those fighters - we can't do anything to them. Call back the retreating LAAT ships, we can't depend on the ships in orbit. This. Is. Where. We. Stand!" The trooper nodded and continued to radio over the comms. The retreating LAAT ships pulled back to Eddaks position and attempted anti-fighter roles to give the infantry cover until reinforcements arrived or until they were lost. Stun grenades were flying and Eddak was finally able to return fire. As the battle drew on, some of the assault vehicles had fell, and their crewman bailed, taking firing positions behind the downed vehicles. Some of them radiod to command, saying they can't push on, that the enemy had laid traps for the vehicles, but before they could finish their transmission, missiles had started to land. They carpeted the area.

Eddak and his men were flung around, and the trenches were able to begin suppressive fire again, pinning them. "If this keeps up, I'm going to make a suicide mission!" Eddak yelled as he struggled to get back up, taking another knee. But then.... something happened. Eddak went to look up and a siring pain hit his head. He reached up to grab his head, "Feth!" One of his troopers came to his aid and immediately began bandaging him up. "What happened??" Eddak was confused. The trooper yelled, "Its your eye, sir! Hold still!" Eddak shook his head, "No, we can't do this. But..." he pondered the fact he couldn't retreat. "Call in one of the Royals, I'm gonna need them to blanket that trench. We can't hold without them!" Eddak yelled in pain as he tried to hold himself. He had lost vision to one eye, but he was going to try and keep fighting. The trooper made a priority comm transmission to Admiral Vruumond. Vruumond did not like the transmission, but he knew Eddaks situation. "Order the 'Gallant' to head into orbit, all power to weapons, and open fire on the trenches. Eddaks men are falling."

It seemed all but too late. The rest of the reinforcements were moving in, dropping off their infantry and the MLC's were taking up long range support positions, well behind the infantry. As the speeder trucks positioned themselves to try and support the forward infantry, the remaining infantry from Eddaks primary command were able to pull up again and fortify the grounds. They were coming out of being pinned, but it didn't look well for them. Not until... a Royal-class descended from the atmosphere, and began firing all turbolasers on the trenches. Its shields were shut down so that it could focus all power into the weapons. This was all or nothing.

Orbit was happy to hear a compromise had been offered, he was tired of the bickering, and it felt unprofessional. But it was to be expected when combining the likes of a military officer, jedi master, and a whatever the hell [member="Mariya Fleischer"] was, most likely a mercenary of sorts by the way she carried herself. Regardless, action was to be taken, and so far all the leaders of this team had done was bickering. Hopefully it would settle with this compromise, and they could be on their way. Force knows how far ahead the other team had gotten, but that wasn't their concern. Their concern was getting the hell out there. In the hopes of moving things along, Farlon weighed in on the argument,

"I believe what the, uh," Farlon took a look at Fleischer, trying to gauge what she was, "mercenary here is saying. Keeps our main force on track to attack the base, and gives mobility to a small and non-quintessential team to do some reconnaissance for us. But we must deploy now, if we are to win the day."

Farlon hoped that would convince [member="Lauri Törni"] to agree and get moving. He was getting antsy and did not want to wait any longer.
