An Omega Pyre's Guidebook to Force Powers

First off, this is a guidebook -- not a rule. It is just something to use as a reference if you so choose to if you are new to the whole Force Power thing.

The Movies have made pretty good stance on what the common Force Powers are and their power; and let's face it, there are times when epic Force powers in a PVE arena that can make an epic storyline.

None the less, not every thread is a fifteen second jolt of fame, so with that in mind, try and take this suggestion with a grain of salt.

The following guidelines come from an old board that I still RP in and have been pretty useful. There are 13 levels of Force power use, with 1 through 5 being apprentice/ padawan level, 6 through 9 knight, and 10 through 13 master.

Again, think of it as gradual steps of powers that you can use. Of course, this list doesn't list ALL the powers on Wookiepedia... but it gives a sort of an idea where such powers may be at.

What is the Force?

The Force was a metaphysical, binding, and ubiquitous power that held enormous importance for both the Jedi and Sith monastic orders.

Known as the Way in ancient times, the Force was viewed in many different aspects, including, but not limited to, the light side, the dark side, the Unifying Force, and the Living Force.

The first two aspects were concerned with the moral compass of the Force, as manifested by the conduct and emotions of living creatures who were themselves part of the fabric of the Force. The light side of the Force was the facet aligned with compassion, selflessness, self-knowledge and enlightenment, healing, mercy and benevolence, while the dark side of the Force was the element aligned with hatred, fear, covetousness, anger, aggression, jealousy and malevolence.

The latter two aspects were defined by prominent Jedi philosophies: The Unifying Force essentially embraced space and time in its entirety while the Living Force dealt with the energy of living things. Though the Force was categorized in this way, there were no specific abilities or powers that were only usable by a follower of a different path of the Force; the Force partially existed inside the life forms that used it, and drew energy from their emotions.

Some beings, particularly the Sith, believed that the dark side of the Force was more powerful than the light, though it was possible that the dark side was just more tempting to those who used it (or desired to use it). Others thought of the Force as an entity capable of intelligent thought, almost as a sort of deity. Anakin Skywalker, who was believed to have been conceived by the Force itself, may have shared this belief; if this was indeed the case, it would add credence towards the view of the Force as a sentient entity.

Though the Force was thought to flow through every living thing, its power could only be harnessed by beings described as "Force-sensitive." This Force-sensitivity was correlated with, and sometimes attributed to, a high count of internal microorganisms called midi-chlorians that were found in a Force-sensitive's blood: the higher the count, the greater the being's potential Force ability, though there were some exceptions to this rule.

Force-sensitive beings were able to tap into the Force to perform acts of great skill and agility as well as control and shape the world around them. Sometimes this ability was described as having a strong Force "aura".

What are the current Force powers?

Wookieepedia, again, has a very extensive list. Click "Force Powers" for a full detailed view!

Force powers were the manifestations of a Jedi, Sith, or other Force-adept's connection with the Force. These powers were supernatural abilities not described by scientists. The powers were usually taught by Force-using organizations, but there were examples of individual, self-improving methods of learning to use the Force.

There were many kinds of Force powers, but not all were available to a single person, since some of them required a deep connection with one side of the Force and others were secret or very rare. Also, as a side note, it should be taken into account that the Force is not "magic," nor does it have specific "spells" or "powers," and they are far more interrelated than the list might suggest.

ASPECTS OF THE FORCE
There are three aspects of manipulating the Force, they are the following:

"Control is the ability of a Force User to control the Force, and to control how the Force interacts with both themselves and others. With control, an adept may change how something does something that it normally does, but they may not make it do something it would not normally do.

"Sense allows the Force User to sense the flow of the Force, how it connects the various pieces of the galaxy and the disturbances within the force.

"The Alter skill allows a Force User to change the way the Force flows through the galaxy, thus enabling them to make things do things they would not normally do, such as fly or spontaneously combust."

Some folk are better at the "control" aspect. Others in "sense" and so forth with "Alter." Each needs some proper guidance so you can truly excel in them. Not everyone is going to be kicking poo doo in all three unless you are pretty high up there in rank, so just keep that in mind.

You'll see after each force power a suggested tiered rank foundation of the aspects, from 1 to 3. Again, a suggestion, not a ruling. :)

Level 1 student ( Fresh off the boat and starting to learn of the Force!)
  • Alter Flow - The FU alters the path of Force to flow across and around obstacles in the room, making it flow more freely A1
  • Create Light - Creates an orb of light for dark places C1
  • Life Sense - Sense the life around you, not the Force, just life S1
  • Lightsaber Combat - Allows the FU to use a lightsaber with reasonable skill. Required for lightweapon creation. C1, S1
  • Sense Force Disturbance - Allows the FU to sense major disturbances in the Force S1

Level 2 Force User ( Getting a bit better!)
  • Danger Sense - Sense danger/traps, etc S1
  • Darkness - Force user can create darkness by absorbing all the light in an area C1, S1, A1

Level 3 Force User (You're looking at an advance Apprentice here, definately getting to learn more of the ropes)
  • Advanced Lightsaber Combat -FU can fight better and can use the Force, a bit, to help C2,S1, Level 1 Lightsaber Combat
  • Detoxify Poison - Allows you to detoxify poison in yourself and, at higher levels, to detoxify poison in another person C1
  • Force Jump - The Force allows the FU to jump higher than normal C1
  • Psychometry - Discern past events by coming into contact with inanimate objects. Events are seen from the viewpoint of the holder, emotions included (no bodies/corpses allowed for Lightsiders) S2
  • Pyrokinesis - Can start a fire with the Force, using the molecules in the air C2, A1
  • Surveillance - Can acquire knowledge about your surroundings without allowing observers to realize youre doing it S2, A1
  • Force Shield - The most basic defense available to any Force user. This power allows them to resist intrusive powers such as Mind Trick or to prevent their weapon from being snatched away by telekinetic means. This is a very basic defense and as such higher level Force Users and more powerful techniques can bypass and/or tear it down. C1,S1
  • Truth Sense - Sense a lie or duplicity. S1

Level 4 Force User (Advanced Apprenticee)
  • Breath Control - numb the bodys instinct to shut itself down after long periods without oxygen, allowing the user to be able to go without breathing for hours, even days. This was very effective in situations where the air was very thin, underwater, or in any environment with toxic fumes. C2
  • Cryokinesis - can manipulate particles of water in the air to create frost and ice. Can also freeze liquids. C2, A1
  • Dim Anothers Senses - Exactly what it says S1, A2
  • Force Comprehension - absorb and interpret great quantities of information rapidly by speeding up the users neural processes. Basic knowledge of the topic being learned required for it to be effective. S1, C1
  • Remain Conscious - Allows you to remain conscious with wounds that normally would incapacitate you C2
  • Resist Stun - Allows you to resist a stun blast C2, A1
  • Sense Force User - Sense another FU in the area S1
  • Telepathy - Allows the user to send messages through the force and to intercept messages others are sending. At higher levels, may allow the user to gain a limited glimpse of a person's thoughts. S2, C1
  • Accelerate Healing - Make your natural healing faster, and aid others at higher levels. C2, S1
  • Unity - FU allows the Force to flow across and around the boulders and obstacles within ones body. By moving these emotional and physical barriers, the Force flows more freely, allowing the individual to reach a deeper connection to the world around them. Also brings into unity ones breathing, motion, and alignment. C2
  • Feed On Darkside -Allows the FU to use others dark emotions to fuel their own power C1, A2

Level 5 Force User (An apprentice ready for Knighthood)
  • Ionize causes a droid (or an army of, at higher levels) to short-circuit; temporarily disable a security holocam, causing a brief period of static that allows the user to pass while only alerting security to a minor holocam malfunction. Can also be used to deplete power packs, energy cells, and similar sources of energy, rendering electronic devices and powered weaponry useless until the power source is replaced or recharged. A2, S2
  • Force Scream - A Force User amplifies his or her voice with the Force, causing disorientation, confusion and, at higher levels, pain. C2
  • Battlemind - ones morale and fighting spirit was augmented through sheer focus S2, C2
  • Telekinesis - The user is able to push, pull and levitate objects. The level of the user determines the strength of the hold they have on the object, how powerfully they can repel/attract an object and also the size of the object in question. A2
  • Hibernation Trance - Allows the body to slow to a state of hibernation for long periods C1
  • Illusions - includes a broad spectrum of more specific sub-powers in which the Force is used to create any external illusion. Will even continue to be seen if a person is looking at the false image through electronic means, such as a live camera feed (Upon playback, nothing will be there, or the true image will be recorded). In higher levels, the illusions become more solid. Does not render one invisible. A3 S1 C1.
  • Instinctive Astrogation Control - Fly through hyperspace without a navcomputer S2, A2
  • Orb - manipulate water into a strong ball (or other shape) and direct it at an opponent. It can also sometimes be used on land by gathering moisture in the area. A2
  • Quey'tek: Force Mask - Make yourself small and barely recognizeable within the Force. At higher levels, will mask the FUs connection to the Force, allowing them to pass unnoticed to other FUs C2, S2, A2
  • Shadowstrike - allows the wielder to send physical blows at an opponent, without actually coming into contact with the opponent. The force of the blow would be equivalent to an actual punch thrown by the wielder (taking into account the wielders physique), but allows the wielder to remain at a distance from their opponent. Essentially unarmed combat using the Force to attack. A2, C1
  • Blinding - emanate what appears as a blinding flash of energy, causing the targets vision to overload and causing temporary blindness. Obfuscate an opponents vision, making it difficult for the adversary to spot and attack the Jedi (or anyone else, for that matter). A2
  • Revitalize bring the vitality of the closest non-droid companion of the caster to its peak, though the recipient will have a drop in energy after being revitalized. At higher levels, allows the caster to further boost a companions vitality or affect more than one individual at a time. A2, S2
  • Affliction - works much like a fast-acting poison, quickly debilitating the target. The effects of affliction worsen over time if not treated medically. A2, S1
  • Force Choke - Use the mental powers of the Force to physically injure, and at higher levels kill, another being. A3
  • Repair - a Dark Side version of Healing, this skill allows a Force User to repair a wound. It is not, however, healed, and will reopen, fester, and/or rot within a month if not given proper medical attention C2

Level 6 Force User (Brand spanking new knight!)
  • Combat Sense - Force tells the FU what the other is about to do S2
  • Disguise - FU uses the Force to disguise their apperance and voice A2
  • Force Adhere - A FU gathers the Force into a concentrated form that coats hands and feet, acting like an adhesive. This allows the FU to "cling" to surfaces; walls, ceilings, ship hulls. The higher the FU level, the stronger the "grip", allowing the FU to move while adhered (ie, running on walls for a very short time, hang from ceiling to avoid detection for a time).Requires: Telekinesis, Force Jump. C2, A2
  • Neural Storm - Allows the FU to use psychic energy to overload a victims neural network, causing extreme but momentary disorientation A2, S2
  • Short-term Memory Enhancement-Use the Force to search your own short term memory S3
  • Skilled Lightsaber Combat -Can do fancy tricks and can wield two lightsabers with ease C2 S2, Level 3 Advanced Lightsaber Combat
  • Beast Control - Force user can use the Force in order to calm or take command over a creature. Creatures of a large enough size can be ridden. C3, S1
  • Affect Mind - Change someones mind with the Force C1, A2, S2
  • Force Barrier/Bubble - Take less damage by creating a Force Barrier or sphere of protection C2, A1
  • Malacia - Induces a powerful dizziness and nausea in an opponent. Completely incapacitating, but not permanently damaging. Lasts 12 hours or one thread A3, C1
  • Control Mind - Control what someone is thinking S1, A2
  • Memory Wipe - Wipe someone's memory, not fully at this point and hard to do A3, S1
  • Mind Shard - Allows the wielder to drive daggers of psychic energy into their victims mind, disrupting neural pathways and causing the victim to feel intense pain their mind A3

Level 7 Force User (Learning a bit more!)
  • Control Pain - Use of the Force to control the feeling of pain C2
  • Enhance Skills - Force increases the FUs abilities C2
  • Force Charged Strike - Force aided attack with a weapon or fists C1
  • Force Speed - Increase speed of movements C2
  • Magnify Senses - With this power, a FU can magnify the 5 senses (Sight, Smell, Touch, Taste, Sound) C1, S1
  • Null Gravity - Nullify the effects of gravity in a small area C2, S1, A3
  • Night Vision - Allows the Force user to see in the dark by focusing Force energy onto the surface of the retinas. This makes it easier to stay hidden in shadows, though the eyes have a faint glow. Requires: Create Light. C2, S1
  • Force Meld - A technique which unites several Jedi through the Force, drawing strength from each other and acting as a single, powerful entity C3, S2, A2, All in melding group must have skill
  • Immunity - the user focuses their will into creating a defensive aura that surrounds them, which protects them from Force powers, negating their effects. It is often used to combat offensive Force powers, and the dark side. C2, A2, S1
  • Living Sensors - FU imbues a piece of technology, such as scanning paddles, with the Living Force, enabling the tool to identify Force Sensitives A2, S1
  • Darkside Alchemy - Pertains to the forging of Sith Swords and Darskide-imbued armor, but also deals with the creation of darkside mutants. Required for Sithsword creation. A2, C1
  • Drain Knowledge - extract knowledge out of a sentient without his or her consent. Beyond simple reading of thoughts, the Drain Knowledge ability disrupted the Force to steal deep memories and information in a violent and merciless way. Such a process might damage the subject psychologically. S2, A2, C1

Level 8 Force User (Advanced Knight)
  • Block Force Ability - Block/Dampen another FUs ability S1, A3
  • Force Bolt - Small bolt of pure Force energy C2
  • Foresight/Visions - The FU can see into the future, though it is always in motion C1, S3
  • Mental Translocation - Leave the body and look around with the Force C2, S2
  • Shadow Lance - An Force user focuses the particles used in Create Light/Darkness into a finely honed Spear or Lance.The spear is exactly like a metal weapon with the exception that it would require a lightsaber and/or a well-used Force Power to deflect the projectile. The construct vanishes the moment control is released. At higher levels this Lance can be multiplied and exceptionally strong Force Users can launch dozens of these projectiles at a target. Requires Create Light, Darkness. C2, A3
  • Shadow Walk - Transfer the matter of a person and those touching them from one shadow to another C2, S2, A3
  • Comprehend Speech - Enables a Force user to understand the spoken language of any sentient they are interacting with. It does not necessarily allow them to speak it, merely understand the general meaning. Use of the ability is aided if the sentient itself is Force sensitive to some degree. C2, S3
  • Force Harmony - Blend in with the surroundings S2, A2
  • Infusion - Animate creatures or elements around you with the Living Force, causing them to become your allies in battle (befriending snakes or Wampas, for example, or even animating a water tentacle) A3, S2, C1
  • Reduce Injury - Reduce the injury caused by an attack, fall, etc C2, A1
  • Energy Trap - A concentration of Dark Side energy nearly invisible to the naked eye. When your opponent stumbles into it, they are instantly immobilized, unable to move without tightening the trap C2, A2

Level 9 Force User (A knight bridging for Masterhood)
  • Battle Meditation - The FU concentrates on the general flow & outcome of a battle. When the battle is pictured in their mind, they project the image to all participants in the battle. This image influences both sides, bolstering their own forces while reducing the conviction of their opponents S2, C3
  • Control Weather - Control the weather in an area. Includes summoning storms. C3, S2, A2
  • Dreamscape - A Force projection placing an opponent in a world created in the mind of the wielder. The illusion is often broken when the opponent tries to break though it, but until then it appears to be real A3, S3, C2
  • Force Heal - Allows the user to heal serious wounds in themselves or other people. A2, C2, S1
  • Force Reflection - Allows the Jedi to reflect offensive powers toward the user. Will only work on powers of the same level as the user or lower. A3, S2, C2
  • Combustion - make an object explode by sheer force of will. Rarely used on a person, the effects on inanimate objects and persons are devastating. Depending on the size, density and vulnerability of the object in question, combustion would become harder or easier to use successfully. Requires Pyrokinesis, A3, S1, C2
  • Waves Of Darkness - FU uses the Darkside as an attack in waves, allowing the wielder to smash through mental & physical defenses with ease C2, S2, A2
  • Sith Sorcery - The ability to commune with the Ancient Sith Lords and call upon their power to supplement yours C2, S2

Level 10 Force User (Brand Spanking new Master)
  • Alter Senses of Another - Alter what someone else sees, hears, feels, etc C2, S3, A3
  • Masterful Lightsaber Combat - Highest level in Lightsaber Combat. Think Yoda C3, S2, A2, Level 6 Skilled Lightsaber Combat
  • Meditation of Immersion - The FU stills their mental & physical state to a profound level. While in this state, some can become invisible even to artificial means of detection, while others can project images around them with vivid clarity. Corresponds to the Fallanssi Currents C3, S2, A3
  • Absorb/Scatter Energy - FU can minimize (absorb at higher level) an energy blast. A3, C3, S2
  • Karmic Strike - The Jedi induces feelings of guilt and self-loathing in a target for every crime that person has ever committed. Can result in disorientation or evens unconsciousness for truly evil targets. C3, S2, A3
  • Morichro - Rapidly slows the body functions of other beings, resulting in a comatose state A3, S2, C2
  • Paranoia - cause multiple enemies in a ten-meter radius to become insane with fear and paranoia for a short time. Opponents are too stricken with fear to defend themselves, some so insane that they choose to kill themselves rather than face the user. S2, A3

Level 11 Force User (Advanced Master)
  • Electric Judgement - A lightning based attack, similar to Force Lightning, but which does not kill and instead saps an opponent's strength and willpower. Can also be used to drain the energy from an electrical device or vehicle. C3, A2
  • Mass Heal - Use the Force to heal multiple people of serious and life-threatening wounds. C3, S2, A2
  • Force Lightning - Bolts of lightning created by the Darkside C3, A2

Level 12 Force User (Advanced Master)
  • Wall of Light - Creates a wall of light around another Force user and strip them of their connection to the Force. C3, S2, A2
  • Force Destruction - Creates a massive field of Dark side energy able to be thrown in any direction. On impact creates a large blast radius, vaporising anyone in the vicinity not powerful enough to defend themselves. An exhausting power, it requires a great deal of focus and concentration, and can only be managed once or twice before the user needs to rest. C3, S2, A2

Level 13 Force User (Master Guru)
  • Manipulate Life Force - Allows the user to transfer or siphon the life energy of another being at will to either bolster an ally or themselves. The extent of how much is siphoned/transferred is dependant on the targets force level and the amount of focus applied by the user.A3,S3,C3

UNIQUE AND RARE POWERS!

Alright, there are some really rare Force powers there that can be considered to be the best of the best. These are the kind of Force powers that you normally see one or two really excel at them.

List of Rare Force Powers:
  • Phase
  • Teleportation (Force Fold)
  • Morichro
  • Malacia - For total incapacitation as it is extremely difficult
  • Shatterpoint
  • Mass Stasis
  • Absorb/ scatter energy

A fun thing to do, if you are looking to delve into a rare Force power as your "token" mastered power, is to gradtually build up to it early on in your apprentice years. Find a Master ( or have an RPJ or one of the masters in the faction perhaps NPC a master who can train you to learn this particular Force power)

It really gives you clout, and provides a measure of character development that you will feel a certain sense of satisfaction once you've truly mastered it. :)
