(-) A Legacy To Live Up To: The previous commander of Blue Squadron, Syrena Colsin, had a larger than life personality. She was tough, by the books, loud, intimidating, and a good leader. Perfect commander material. And the person filling in her shoes has quite the expectations to fulfill. Amaliya knows this, and there is always the fear of never living up to Colsin's legacy.
(-) Mental Trauma: Amaliya Darrena is the sole survivor of the Blue Squadron attack on Thyferra. Watching all of her comrades die, and their ships burn, was mentally scarring. Her trauma can be reignited by the sight of fire, which was everywhere that day.

Biography
Amaliya Darrena grew up the daughter of a trader on Taanab, a farming world. She traveled the galaxy with her parents, met people, talked to aliens, never staying in one place for too long. Until Dantooine. When she was fifteen, Amaliya moved to a semi-permanent home on the farming world of Dantooine. That was when she picked up a side job fixing up old starfighters for some side credits to help her parents.
Her fascination with starships escalated from there, and utter joy being behind the control of one. And for years, she built up her ability and expertise, until she could swear she was the best damn pilot on Dantooine, and feel like she may not even be lying.
But she couldn't find employment that was satisfying, until the rise of the Sith Empire. They promised pay, travel, steady employment, and of course, the honor and glory of serving the mighty Empire. Amaliya wasn't too certain of the Empire thing, but everything else sounded rather nice. So off to the Imperial Naval Academy she went.
From the Academy, came real missions, under Blue Squadron leader Syrena Colsin. Kishibah, Yavin, Tion, she was there for all of them as Blue Two, the XO. All until Thyferra.
Thyferra was a bloody mess for Blue Squadron. In a daring attack by Galactic Alliance pilots Knight Squadron, all pilots were killed, but for Darrena. As the sole survivor, Darrena found herself promoted to the new Blue Leader, once her wounds were healed.
But some wounds never heal, and the fires of Thyferra will always burn inside Commander Darrena's mind.
