From her vantage at the highest point of the asteroid field, accompanied by a mere fraction of Korriban's full fleet, The Omen hovered in space above the Commonwealth's forces, the positioning a silent representation of how Elmindra saw the Commonwealth's place in all this. The sentiment was not to be mistaken with a lack of gratitude, but rather a complex of superiority and an entitlement to power.
Information flooded into the central holo-display as, one by one, The Omen's command deck fired off succinct reports.
"Incoming transmission from Valiant with initial scans of the enemy fleet."
Information flooded into the central holo-display as, one by one, The Omen's command deck fired off succinct reports.
"Incoming transmission from Valiant with initial scans of the enemy fleet."
"Additional ships emerging from hyperspace."
"More fighters incoming."
"Sensors picking up shield generator activity."
"Enemy interdictor approaching asteroid field, defended by corvette."
"It appears we have been detected, admiral."
For a heartbeat, the surge of sensation and emotional static from the many minds bound to hers washed over and through her, the power intoxicating but not overwhelming, not for the First Lord. She had controlled larger fleets than this and she knew she was capable of even more. She reasserted her will, drowning out the discordant noise, letting the battle's chaos become her fuel. Every mind that quivered in her grasp became steady, unwavering.
Within the swelling tide of the Force, Darth Carnifex was a pillar of absolute darkness. She could feel his malicious intent even before his flagship surged forward, hungry for slaughter. The Falleen's crimson eyes glinted with predatory satisfaction.
Let the games begin.
Command came as easily to her as breath.
"Deploy the Rogues and two strike frigates to accompany the Dark Lord," she ordered. "They are to follow His lead and unleash boarding parties when necessary."
A despicable amusement swelled in her at the thought of the horrors her King's undead children and the Eternal Father had in store for the foolish Imperials.
"Deploy Hammers and two bomber squadrons to engage the interdictor. Reduce it to slag." She didn't like the look of that particular move and didn't intend to allow it to proceed.
"Hail Invictus, instruct Captain Maj to microjump to flank the farthest cluster of cruisers, deploy fighters, and open fire." A move that may have been an impossible task for most ships was just one of the many tools in the arsenal of the Kainite's Krovos-class Star Destroyer.
Elmindra's icy gaze flicked toward the gunnery pit. "Ready the axial cannon. Hail Valient to compare optimal targeting solutions."
She narrowed her eyes at the blips of enemy fighters approaching. "Deploy the interceptors and the remaining Scions to defend while the cannon readies. They will soon have assistance."
All around her, the officers confirmed and relayed her orders, providing status reports as needed.
Elmindra inhaled deeply as her next command took shape in her mind. Into the darkest tendrils of the Force, she reached, seeking them: the Jen'Quazoi. The Mist Wraiths. Twisted children of the King's dark alchemy.
In the space between heartbeats, they answered.
A chorus of whispering, discordant voices filled her thoughts. Alone, a single Jen'Quazoi could expand to cover the space of one square kilometer, and Elmindra had brought dozens.
Shroud us, she conveyed. Protect our ships. Feast upon our enemies. Make them suffer.
With violent eagerness, the Mist Wraiths obeyed. Spilling out from The Omen, a wall of thick mists coiled through the void, swallowing up the asteroids closest to the massive battlecruiser and nearby Harrowers and spreading out to create a buffer between Korriban's fleet and the enemy's.
Elmindra reached out with the Force, eager for the first taste of the enemy's dismay—their pilots groping for targets in the rolling fog, comms disrupted by phantoms and illusions. The Mist Wraiths twisted reality, hurling debris, warping sensors, sowing confusion and disarray. Their radioactive curse gnawed unseen at internal ship systems and flesh alike.
She could feel the deep vibrating hum of the axial cannon swelling to readiness, the whispers of the undead in the void, the pulse of her fleet synchronized under her unyielding will. The anticipation thrummed beneath her stoic exterior—that cold, delicious thrill she felt standing on the precipice of violence, the moment when planning gave way to raw, merciless execution.
