IMPERIAL CONFEDERATION
BROSI,
OUTER RIM TERRITORIES
TimHzFP.png

Brosi. The site of the Imperial Confederation's first major defeat at the hands of the Sith. To the rank and file of the Confederation it only invoked bad memories of confronting hordes of the undead, Sithspawn and overwhelmingly strong Sith Lords that shattered their forces and sent them running back to Minntooine. However the bitter taste of defeat was not enough to keep the Confederation at bay, for their forces were currently gathering for a second offensive against the Sith by striking at Brosi once more and this time they were prepared and knew well the type of foe they were up against.

With a few days left before the Confederation would launch their renewed offensive, Imperial High Command had dispatched a joint strike team comprised of Special Forces Operatives and Imperial Inquisitors to Brosi with the objective of infiltrating a Sith Laboratory operated by a Sith-aligned Corporation known as Spore Industries (Which happened to be owned by the Sith Governor of Brosi, Madrona A’Mia Madrona A’Mia ) and gathering any data that could be useful in aiding the Confederation combat the monstrosities created by the Sith.

It was supposed to be a quick operation aimed at testing the capabilities and effectiveness of the Imperial Armed Forces and adjacent branches on the eve of their attack against the Sith, the results of which would reveal whether the Confederation was truly ready to resume their conflict against the Sith.

Thus after slipping through the Thandon Star Cluster undetected through their stealth transport, the strike team would soon make landfall within the thick jungles of Brosi a kilometer away from the Laboratory beginning their short march through the jungle towards their ultimate destination.

The shuttle juttered beneath Saltare's feet as it raced towards the planet of Brosi. Inside the dropship, he sat, strapped into his crash harness but ready to deploy when the time came.

Brosi.

The world sat bloated beneath him, thick with memory. The name of the place invoked memories in him he had never been able to get rid of. His arms rested on his legs, a datapad in his hand with a simple message on the screen:

IMPERIAL SECURE COMMS TERMINAL

:: INITIATING HOLO-LINK... ::
Attempting uplink with Inferno Squad Operative: "Beth"
--- ENCRYPTION HANDSHAKE SEQUENCE STARTED ---
... Signal lock pending ...
... Standby ...
WARNING: SIGNAL DEGRADATION DETECTED
Transmission unstable... awaiting response

His fingers relaxed, and the datapad's screen slowly slid from his view as he let it droop between his legs. It was the last message that was transmitted regarding Beth and her team. A hollow message, really. It didn't tell him anything. When they fled Brosi after the last invasion, Imperial beacons on the surface were still active; soldiers and support personnel asking for evacuation as they were being actively left behind. Beth could have been with one of them. If anyone could survive down there, it would be her and the rest of Inferno.

Saltare had asked to come back to Brosi several times, only to be shot down each time. Command had said, "The time wasn't right," or "It would provoke the Sith to attack before we're ready." He had stolen a hyperspace capable fighter and had flown it to Brosi, but he was quickly found in system by the Sith and was barely able to escape with his life. That stunt had kept him grounded now for months as TIC Command decided what to do with him. Someone had come to his aid, and now he was on a stealth shuttle headed for the one place he couldn't go to before today.

Saltare knew now all those excuses by command were lies; they were stalling as they prepared for this mission here, which would lead to another invasion. Keeping him grounded made sure he was available to run the missions they would need him to before the invasion.

The shuttle bucked violently as it quickly dropped through the atmosphere, doing its damnedest to avoid roving patrols and scanners. Saltare checked his gear before looking at the others who were in the dropship with him. He eyed them up before making his assumptions on how they would handle themselves here. Their goal was to gather information to help the Confederation during the invasion. Saltare's goal was to collect information to find Beth, whether she was alive or dead. This mission provided him with good cover to do that.

He didn't know what information this laboratory would have, maybe nothing, but he could hope.

As the shuttle made landfall within the thick jungle of Brosi, Saltare stood up and made his weapons ready to fire before stalking out of the dropship, waiting for the others to make their exit before they advanced toward the laboratory.

Joseph stepped out of the stealth transport, fully equipped and heavily armed for today's mission. He was well aware of the stakes that were at hand for Brosi had been the site of the Confederation's greatest defeat to date and within a couple of days they were going to return to the world in full force to succeed where they had failed, this time being better prepared and ready to confront the monstrosities of the Sith. Today's mission however would serve as the ultimate test to display the capabilities of the Confederation's Special Force and determine whether the Imperials were ready to take on the Sith once more.

Accompanying Torson in this mission were other Special Forces operatives such as Saltare Dothon and Ronhar Tane whom he was already familiar with along with the Imperial Inquisitor T'zarna Khab whom he had also met once prior to the days of the Confederation. Together their task was to infiltrate a Sith Laboratory locate deep within Brosi's jungles which were owned by the Planet's Sith Governor Madrona A'Mia, and collect any vital data that could facilitate the upcoming Imperial operation.

With the strike team already on the ground and ready to go, they would begin their kilometer-long journey as they made their way towards the Sith Laboratory, ready to put down any obstacles that came their way and complete the task at hand.

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
[REDACTED]
BROSI

Ronhar shifted around rather uncomfortably in the seat of the CX-902I Dagger-Class Infiltrator that was transporting him, Joseph Torson Joseph Torson , Saltare Dothon Saltare Dothon and T'zarna Khab T'zarna Khab to that accursed world known as Brosi. Ever since the Imperial Confederation's failed attack to take the planet, Ronhar had been haunted by the things that he had witnessed during the fighting, and he couldn't help but feel uneasy as the transport continued to make its descent through Brosi's atmosphere.

Everyone on board was deathly quiet, and Ronhar certainly couldn't blame them. He checked and rechecked his weapons and equipment over and over again, the fear and trepidation of what he had gone through last time still very much present on his mind. From what he had been told. the Sith had conducted some sort of ritual that had drastically altered the ecosystem of the planet, turning it from a zombie infested wasteland into a massive planetary sized jungle. It seemed that no matter where Ronhar ventured, he could not escape it: between Myrkr, Mon Cala and now Brosi, Ronhar promised himself that he would thoroughly burn the next jungle planet that he came across to nothing but ashes and dust.

He had brought a variety of weapons and equipment with him, including a Mahporeem Acid Rifle, his trusty BG-D 6 "Outlaw", an EGR-16, a number of Rhydonium Grenades and Mk II Viral Bombs, Burnblade and, the newest piece of kit in the Imperial Remnant's arsenal, a Wampa-Pattern Industrial Exoskeleton, which had just been approved for service days earlier. For someone like Ronhar, he was certainly traveling rather heavy, but he was certain that he would need every piece of equipment that he had brought with him.

After all, their was no telling what manner of Sithspawn were now infesting this hellscape of a planet, and Ronhar wanted to make sure that he was prepared for all eventualities. He unconsciously gripped his HNDA-Mk I as he adjusted the chemical flow rate on his Acid Rifle. hoping beyond hope that the mission would go smoothly and that he wouldn't have to deal with any sort of surprises along the way...

Though planetary defenses in the mechanical sense currently appeared slim around the newly terraformed planet, they still existed. As the Imperial stealth ship slipped past those technological guardians, Brosi awaited.

Once a strip mined, heavily deforested and over industrialized planet, the place had been razed then completely transformed. Massive trees now rose from lush rainforests, and the entire place seemed to thrum with life. Its abundance however did not mark it as welcoming. Brosi remembered.

Though the first footfalls of foreign soldiers might have blended in, Psilosfyr would soon take note. The lush jungle between agents and their objective also teemed with Sithspawn. Roaming packs of malidrae, wild slimes, and other horrors made their home in those lovely, dark, depths.

The Imperial troops hadn't been noticed yet, but it was only a matter of time.

T'zarna looked down upon the planet as the doors to the transport opened. It was a much different planet from when the Imperials were last there. Intel assumed as much, but the rapid regrowth of plant life was astounding. Whole buildings had been turned to ruins, and what was left of their facades was completely reclaimed by the wilderness! The planet was hot, like a greenhouse made to sustain the heartiest of lifeforms. The Sith had turned this place into a veritable incubator for their menagerie of horrors.

"Whether this planet is a vanity project, or a bioweapon incubator. Soon it shall be ours again. I look forward to taming this planet."

Taming such a planet would be a difficult job even with the full might of the hive behind her, with such a small team, it would be impossible. This is why such missions required patience and cunning, rather than brute strength. To that end, T'zarna would have to rely on those beside her more than ever, and temper her zeal to avoid being overwhelmed.

Her body dropped from the transport, landing in a three point stance on the soft jungle floor. The trees were even more imposing when looking at them from below. The sky was being choked by the megaflora that seemed to grow endlessly towards the planet's sun. Light struggled to pierce the interwoven branches, and it was anyone's guess what may nest in them. T'zarna scowled as she looked into the darkened sky from ground-level. Such a terrible thing to see, a whole planet turned into a Sith lab experiment. The proverbial petri dish where the masters of the planet could watch life grow and mutate.

"We must move swiftly if we do not wish to be hunted. Even though our transport wasn't detectible on sensors, it is highly likely that Sithspawn will pick up traces of our entry. If intel is correct, then this planet will teem with perverted biology. Be sure to keep your weapons close, the hive needs us alive for the coming days..."

"Copy that." Torson said in acknowledgement to Inquisitor Khab's statement, clutching his primary weapon and activating his helmet's thermal vision. This jungle was most likely packed with all sorts of Sithspawn wildlife that would be hostile to the Imperial strike team and it was imperative that they carefully navigated their way through if they were going to successfully reach the Laboratory intact. "Keep an eye out for any hostile wildlife. Even the smallest encounter can alert the Sith to our presence." he added.

After a couple of minutes of carefully navigating through the jungle, Torson proceeded to kneel down and signal the group to halt as he gently pushed aside some leaves blocking their path revealing the silhouette of Laboratory a couple hundred meters away, which was barely visible through the dense jungle. "There it is, the Sith Laboratory. You can't see it well but we're close." he proclaimed, gripping his primary weapon even harder. "Now for the hard part. Getting to the Laboratory in one piece."

Saltare nodded in agreement as he landed with the other operators on the surface of Brosi. The dark and foreboding trees and jungle around them gave him an eerie feeling. As if something was watching them, or hunting them? He wasn't sure, but this planet had definitely changed, and not for the better. The inquisitor, T'zarna Khab T'zarna Khab 's words hung heavy on him as he glanced around. Saltare wondered what she was sensing on the world.

Saltare acknowledged Joseph Torson Joseph Torson with a subtle green light on Torson's HUD, letting him know Saltare had copied his words. Saltare fell in step with the others as they pushed deeper into the forest, giant trees towering over them and, it seemed, closing in on them.

"There it is, the Sith Laboratory. You can't see it well but we're close." he proclaimed, gripping his primary weapon even harder. "Now for the hard part. Getting to the Laboratory in one piece."
"Acknowledged," Saltare said as he started flipping through his visor's visible light spectrums. Nothing definitive popped up, but the forest was thick, and thermal imaging showed only a slightly warmer area where the laboratory must be.

"I'm assuming they'll be automated defenses, sensors, and everything else under the sun protecting this place. Even with our armor systems shielded, getting close will be difficult. I can send a miniature stealth drone to do some scouting, but I can't guarantee whether it'll get picked up or not. Thoughts?"

CAPTAIN RONHAR TANE, TK-3301
[REDACTED]
BROSI

Though their landing had been uneventful enough, Ronhar couldn't help but feel on edge.

After all, they were deep within Sith-held space, trekking around rather hostile territory like they owned the place. Yet, everything around them was quite, far too quiet for Ronhar's liking. He had expected to run into some kind of resistance by now, or to at least see something resembling the enemy. But so far, nothing. He didn't like that one bit.

T'zarna Khab T'zarna Khab , the inquisitor who had accompanied them on the mission, was the first to speak up once the group landed planetside.

Ronhar didn't say anything in response, though he wholeheartedly agreed with the Inquisitor's statement. Still, he couldn't help but feel uncomfortable around her, though he hoped he wasn't showing it. Besides her rather...unique appearance, their was the rather concerning fact that T'zarna Khab T'zarna Khab was a force user, as was evident by the lightsaber strapped to her body. Ronhar had rather mixed feelings toward Force Users these days, considering how often he fought them and how often they caused him and the Confederation trouble. At least this one was on their side...though Ronhar couldn't help but wonder if she would stay that way.

After some time, the group came across their target: a Sith laboratory, no doubt cooking up all manners of twisted experiments inside. Saltare Dothon Saltare Dothon voiced an idea about getting inside to the group:

"I'm assuming they'll be automated defenses, sensors, and everything else under the sun protecting this place. Even with our armor systems shielded, getting close will be difficult. I can send a miniature stealth drone to do some scouting, but I can't guarantee whether it'll get picked up or not. Thoughts?"

"Based upon what we've seen and experienced so far, its unlikely that the Sith are equipped to detect such a piece of technology, though of course we don't know what the hell they've got in there to counter our efforts. In any case, it's rather concerning that we haven't encountered any form of resistance, don't you think? No sentries, no droids, no Sithspawn, nothing. I'm half convinced that they already know we're here", Ronhar mused aloud to the group. "In all likelihood, we're walking straight into a trap. Regardless, we need intelligence, because I'd sure as hell rather not go in entirely blind".

Ronhar shifted around in annoyance: annoyance at the planet, annoyance at the Sith, and annoyance that they had so little information to fight their enemy with...

"Keep an eye out for any hostile wildlife. Even the smallest encounter can alert the Sith to our presence."

As the interlopers moved forward, while plans were made to keep a watchful eye out for wildlife, and the pros or cons of scouting ahead with tech was weighed out, it was the continual footfalls that created ripples in the Weave. While traditional threats were often triggered through sight or sound, it was those damning footfalls which sent vibrations into the earth and alerted a nearby pack of malidrae that uninvited visitors were making their way nearer to their Master's laboratory.

"In all likelihood, we're walking straight into a trap. Regardless, we need intelligence, because I'd sure as hell rather not go in entirely blind".

The irony of those words was that in the intervening time since their first attempted incursion, all of Brosi had grown teeth. Even the new citizenry, who arrived by the transport freighter full on a weekly basis to eek out a life in the suddenly lush, resource rich world, even they were cautious not to wander into the wilds of Brosi. It had become a veritable paradise but it was in much the same way that a bees nest was a honey filled haven full of stingers, or the Tuk'ata's den was so often a treasured tomb.

Out of their periphery, the troopers might suddenly be aware of three malicious, charging Sithspawn. Their armored bodies gleamed and their wicked mouths dripped with saliva, hind claws digging into the soil as they rocketed from the underbrush. One leapt, aiming to tackle the squadron leader, whilst the other two merely sought to ram into the rest.

Something was coming, something with feet that thudded against the ground with tremendous weight. T'zarna narrowed her eyes as she looked in the direction of the noise, too late to say anything. By the time she registered what she was seeing, the three creatures were already upon them! Charging them with scale and claw ready to tear into them.

The first one went in the direction of Torson, a move that posed great danger to the Imperial squad. T'zarna had just enough time to react to one single threat, but not all three beasts. She chose to aide Torson, as he was the leader of the ad hoc unit. One of her hands reached up, pulling Joseph towards her with The Force.

"Seems some of the Sith monsters have found us," T'zarna shouted, barely able to speak before another jet black horror was upon them.

Her lightsaber was cast aside as one of the Sithspawn rammed into them, sending T'zarna skyward. Rage filled the insectoid woman, a rage she would harness after she landed face first into the soil. With a thought, lightning flew from her fingertips into one of the creatures. The current carried every ounce of wrath and fury that she could muster, and a considerable charge ontop of that.

"I shall handle this one! Form a defensive line and kill the rest!"

The greatest worry for them was if the noise created by fighting these creatures would attract yet more abominations. If they continued to fight, then it would only be a matter of time before more beasts showed themselves. Getting overwhelmed was a possibility, and one she could not let occur. This mission was of great importance to the hive, and she would not fail her superiors.
