All good things must have a beginning

A sky blue blade shot forth from the hilt as I moved into a low Shii-Cho stance.
"I will be using Shii-Cho, this style is arguably the best for disarming an opponent."
"Ready?" My apprentice nodded
I let out a battle cry and locked blades with [member="Kiren sepherus"]
"A good thing to remember in a duel is to keep control of the center. If you have that, you can defend easily and apply techniques more accurately and efficiently."
I brought the blade up, his un-ignited hilt was practically begging for a hit on it.

Kiren winced slightly as the blades locked, he hadn't expected the strange feeling in the blade with all the weight in the hilt. He swiftly stepped back and turn the lightsaber back off, as he looked up his master had already made up the distance and had brought her blade up, he immediately re-ignited his saber and barried the blade to the side as it swung down. "It's a good idea to surprise your opponent, right? Use the unorthodox." he said as he released his saber into one hand, and with his free hand, attempted to do a force push.

"That's good for some situations, other time-WHOA!" I got shoved back a bit
"I see you've figured out combining the Force with your bladework. Good for you. As I was saying, in some situations it will only get you into trouble. Once you use something unexpected to much, it becomes expected. Does that make sense?"
[member="Kiren sepherus"] nodded
"Besides, your opponent will likely try something unexpected as well."
I dialed back a bit but cast a bolt of off-white lightning at my apprentice, intentionally missing him; but close enough that he didn't realize it

(OOC: Would you mind time-skipping to when Nef has returned from Manaan?)

-Time Skip-
*After invasion of Manaan*

It had been an entire month since Kiren's arrival at the Jedi temple, and his skills had improved greatly. He had spent nearly the entire month studying, practicing, and learning powers in the force, and lightsaber forms. He now found it much easier to move things with the force, and was becoming a apprentice in the Makashi form of lightsaber combat, and a novice in the Soresu form.

It had come time for more training, his master had recently gotten back from the Invasion at Manaan, he shivered, his condolences went to the many soldiers who were there 'Best not to think about it…'.
He continued on his way to the hanger were his master had recently arrived, he smiled under his cloak as he spotted his master on the far side of the hanger and made his way over stealthily.

"Master." he said, before bowing to the woman and standing straight. It seemed that he had patched up his cloak during his time at the jedi temple and it seemed much more refined. "It's good to see you."

"Likewise, Kiren. You look more like a proper Jedi now. I trust your skills have improved?"
My padawan nodded
"If such is the case, I would like to discuss something with you. Are you familiar with the planet Illum?"
[member="Kiren sepherus"]

"Ilum?" Kiren said quickly, before recomposing himself "Umm...yes isn't that the planet that has the crystals to make lightsabers? And where i'll need to go one day..." Kiren said the last part more quietly.
"Why do you ask, master?" his former surprise was now turning into questions.
'Surely im not ready...'
