- The power gem allows the lightsaber to pierce and breach personal shields and the sort.
- It cannot wound or kill organic life. If the saber touches flesh it only applies a stun effect like a souped-up training saber. Against an unarmored individual it might incapacitate them for a few minutes. Armor? Depending on the thickness it might do the same or merely daze them with every successful hit.
- No Dimetris circuits makes it immune against shorting out by cortosis dust, while a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse allows it to operate underwater.
- Imbued with clarity and focus. The holder of the saber will have an easier time focusing in the heat of the moment.
- Shields: It has the ability to penetrate and breach high-end shields with a successful direct hit. A glancing hit of the saber has a better chance to drain away an exponential degree of its energy.
- Clarity: The holder of the lightsaber will have enhanced clarity and focus.
- Cortosis: It lacks dimetris circuits and as such cortosis dust cannot short it out.
- Non-lethal: While Alden prefers it this way the lightsaber still has no ability to permanently harm sentient life. You won't be able to cut off arms with this or impale someone with it. In essence it is an electro-staff that only retains its cutting power against non-organic life. This limits options, but such is the way of the Jedi.
- Unstable: Much of the lightsaber was assembled by Alden himself without any assistance of other, more experienced Jedi and as such the lightsaber is... unstable at best. It can suddenly retract or its power can diminish at the worst of times. The only warning Alden gets is a shudder through the casing of the hilt.
Alden was always uncomfortable with combat, battle, fighting... he understood that sometimes conflict was necessary, but that did not make things much easier for him. Once he became more and more involved with the Jedi Praxeum he realized that these sort of situations would only increase as they went forward and a certain point he would not be able to avoid taking a life. To avoid this as much as possible, Alden created a new lightsaber for himself.
Taking a shard of a power gem they had discovered during their exploration of the Unknown Regions around Eira Pechal and the kyber crystal that had been attuned to him for years now he assembled a lightsaber that fit more with his personality.
Within he imbued it with a respect and sanctity for life.
Through days of meditation and some feats of engineering the lightsaber managed to do two things that Alden needed: it would never be used to take a life, while giving him a distinct edge against those that utilized personal shields and the sort. When the blade senses that it is being used against life (after all, all life is connected through the Force) it only allows the ionic charges of its being to be unleashed against the target.
A direct hit against a non-armored individual could stun them for minutes at a time. Light armor? Perhaps the same. While heavy armor isolates their targets enough to avoid being stunned completely, instead they become dazed.
