SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Biomechanical Construction: Ajax series Synthetic Soldiers are designed to appear as unusually large humans at a casual inspection. A key element of this is the use of a Soma series Droid Chassis, which is then covered in artificial Torulus and Gen'dai cloned muscles to as servo-motors and then covered in synthflesh, much like their direct predecessor, the synthdroid. At an internal systems level, much of the Ajax is composed of cloned human and gen'dai tissue and combined with existing cybernetics to form an artificial body which closely mimics a functioning organic body. This makes them appear and act even more organically than previous synthetic soldiers to the point where they could arguably be considered cyborgs rather than droids. Aside from making Ajaxs easier to interact with organics (especially for civilians), it also enables them to utilize existing weapons, armor, and other equipment originally designed for organic use. Like the Myrmidon before it, Ajaxs do actually eat and primarily rely on chemical power to run by eating foods and other organic matter, which further suggests that they are organic to most sensors and observers. Incidentally, this ability to "eat" allows it to directly feed its built-in Bio-Energy Ray. It does, however, also contain a compact Bia-series Fusion Generator in its chest to ensure a steady source of energy production for its electrical-based systems.
  • Variable Appearance: Ajax series Synthetic Soldiers use basic synthdroid frame , meaning that it takes only little effort to sculpt or dye the synthflesh to make it look like a variety of humans. Ajax series Synthetic Soldiers typically possess randomized physical appearance traits to make them look like more organic units on the battlefield, those purchasers can specify certain physical appearances if desired. However, their actual appearance as organics is not perfect, falling somewhat between the low-end Synthdroids and high-end HRDs.
  • Synthetic Mind: Unlike previous synthetic soldiers, Ajax series Synthetic Soldiers do not use the company's Psyhke Droid Brain, but actually use clone-vat produced brains derived from human and gen'dai genetics which are then initially "programmed" through flash training. Subsequent learning can then take place through traditional educational techniques, whether it is from lectures, hands-on training, or simple personal experience. Minor genetic differences in each brain along with different environmental exposures means that no two Ajax-series Synthetic Soldier acts the same or has the same skillset. Some argue that this base brain itself technically makes Ajax series Soldiers cyborgs rather than droids. While clearly focused on military or combat-related matters, they are consequently much more relatable to the average organics than most of the other Synthetic Soldiers produced so far.
  • Subdermal Armor: As with other synthetic soldiers, the relatively human external appearance conceals armor that is just skin deep. Most of the organs and significant systems within the Ajax are protected by stiff ferroceramic plates while double ply quantum fiber lines most flexible areas of the body to provide almost complete armor coverage for the droid. Many areas, especially around vital systems and in the joints of the body, also include thermal gel pockets. This allows the Ajax to better withstand kinetic shock from melee attacks or from projectile weapons. This construction combined with the overly muscular nature of the body makes Ajax-series Soldiers unusually large for a human, but it also provides a high degree of protection from kinetic weapons.
  • Impressive Strength: The Ajax was designed to face off against Baedurin troops on equal footing. To that end, each Ajax is roughly as powerful as a Baedurin. It accomplishes this by using Torulus-series Artificial muscles which are intertwined with Gen'dai muscle strands which are then all attached to the Soma-series chassis. The combination of artificial and cloned muscle makes an Ajax's physical performance a curious combination between the organic and inorganic. Artificial muscles do not tire or degrade without substance but are incapable of growing stronger or healing themselves. Conversely, the Gen'dai muscles are capable of growing stronger and have highly unusual regenerative properties, which gives them a limited ability to heal themselves during combat. This strength combined with the Ajax's stature makes it exceptionally dangerous in close-quarters combat.
STRENGTHS
  • Kinetic Resistant: Ajax sports impressive resistance to kinetic weapons due to its .
  • Impressive Strength: Ajax is unusually physically strong thanks to its unusual combination of artificial muscles, vat-grown Gen'dai muscles, and Soma-series Body Chassis. This allows Ajax's to match the physical strength of any of the Draelvasier including the Baedurin.
  • Regenerative: Ajax's mechanical and biological components have some limited ability to self-repair. Gen'dai muscles and tissue within the Ajax retain their natural self-healing abilities while a Droid Self-Sustaining Unit allows it some ability to repair its own mechanical components. This is not instant regeneration nor does it make it Ajax unbreakable, but it does allow the Ajax to partially rebuild itself during extended combat.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightsaber Vulnerable: Ajax's construction was specifically designed to fight the Bryn'adul, and thus many design choices which enabled its impressive resistance against kinetic weapons have made it especially vulnerable to lightsabers, such as the use of thermal gel which can easily leak out of the synethetic soldier if struck by a lightsaber.
  • Large Target: Ajaxs have unusually large statures compared to that of a baseline human and are typically more equivalent to that of a full-grown wookiee. This often makes them relative giants on the battlefield, and thus larger and easier to hit targets.
  • Not Agile: Ajax's impressively bulky muscles and reinforced joints that provide it with impressive brute strength and speed means that it less grace and agility than most organics - they often seem clumsy in comparison, especially compared to lithe Force-users.

DESCRIPTION
Faced with the continuing Bryn'adul menace, Silver Jedi Concord commanders found one particular characteristic of Lucerne Lab's synthetic soldiers to be invaluable on the field: they were utterly disposable compared to those of the organic soldiers alongside whom they fought. This disposable nature allowed Concord commanders to commit some reckless and even suicidal attacks to be conducted, but it was often found that the Baedurin shock troops they often faced were simply too physically strong or employed unusual "technological deadzone" technologies to largely negate what was otherwise fairly well-equipped troops. To that end, Lucerne Labs built off of their more biological-based Myrmidon-series Synthetic Soldier to craft a synthetic soldier which would be able to fight Baedurin shock troops on a level playing field. The resulting Ajax-series Synthetic Soldier is as large and physically powerful as its Bryn'adul counterpart. Perhaps just as importantly, even more so than the Myrmidon, the Ajax crosses the line between what is a droid and what is biot or cyborg, using both mechanical and biological-based systems. This means that the Ajax is rarely significantly effected by Bryn'adul technology that drains energy away from it because it runs on bio-organic power that is supplemented by a self-restarting portable fusion generator. But the Ajax has some tricks of its own built into it, with unusual onboard weaponry built throughout its body, whether its a cryoban sprayer concealed in its forearm, an audio-radial stunner built into its mouth, or its electric defense grid designed to execute those who make physical contact with the synthetic soldier's exterior. Most of these weapons are designed as back-up weapons, and like other synthetic soldiers, Ajaxs typically walk onto the battlefield with armor and primary weapons originally designed for use by the typical organic humanoid. With Lucerne Labs considering the Bryn'adul to be the chief threat to the galaxy, the company has massively stepped up production of the Ajax at the cost of some of its other synthetic soldier lines, particularly the less advanced Hoplite-series. It remains to be seen if Ajax will be able to help stem the tide of the Bryn'adul's onslaught on the greater galaxy.
