Description:

Further increasing the amount of weapons utilizing Sianium technology, the Aurora Industries Weapons Division began work on the AI-147e "Overload" Arc Caster as another part of Project Galvani. Based off older models of arc casters used during the Galactic Civil War, the Overload has some marked improvements over those models.

Using the Sianium power cells designed for blasters, the engineers were able to produce a weapon that could fire a continuous stream of electricity for ten minutes before the cell needed switched, or fifty short bursts before the power cell needed switch. They also found, to their delight, that the primary target would become an arc focal point for about a five meter radius, although these arcs were weaker than the primary streams.

The Overload also comes with a stun function that produces much weaker bolts of electricity that are designed to stun a target's nervous system for short periods of time, typically five minutes. The Overload does have a rather short range of twenty meters and continued use might cause the barrel to melt, so constant maintenance and observation are needed to maintain full functionality. There is also the problem that, while it can do a continuous stream of energy for ten minutes, it is advised to not do so as the weapon can overheat and explode.

Great idea, but the whole ten minutes of firing is a bit much. I'd be fine with saying it has enough juice for ten minutes of continuous fire, with the caveat that it'll overheat or something long before that point.
