DESCRIPTION

The fourth major expansion set released by Galactic Illusionary Gaming for its card game Age of Chaos, The Great Struggle serves as a commemoration of the Second Great Hyperspace War and the factions of the galaxy that fought in it. Consisting of 612 individual cards, spanning the major factions of the Galactic Alliance, the Galactic Empire, the Brotherhood of the Maw, the Eternal Empire, and the Ashlan Crusade, the set also serves as a soft reboot and refinement of the game as over 120 cards are reprinted remasters from previous sets, many of which coming from the original set Galaxy at War. The company has also taken the opportunity to redesign its booster packs, now called Expansion Packs, and have increased the number of cards and rares a collector or fan might find within them.

Newly added into the game is a card type known as Command cards. These new cards each have strong effects, necessitating that they can only be played on their owner's turn, unlike Action cards. Planeswalkers also make their return in the set, representing some of the featured faction's leaders during the war, and Sagas have been reworked into a single card that has multiple steps before it leaves the field instead of a series of cards that the designers felt might take up too many slots in a player's deck.
