ADVANCED FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • Tandem Cockpit - The TC-M7 is a military variant of the civilian use TC-21 with both designs sharing a similar cockpit layout and function. The TC-M7 is intended to be utilized by military or mercenary organizations as an additional training tool for their fighter pilots. Carrying over the cockpit design, the TC-M7 also places the student up front with the primary flight controls with a flight instructor in the rear seat. This secondary seat also has its own set of flight controls to allow the flight instructor to take over control of the TC-M7 for training purposes prior to handing control over to the student.
  • Astromech Slot - Each TC-M7 also comes equipped with a port capable of slotting in an astromech unit as required during a training session. This astromech unit can be utilized to provide additional support to the flight instructor or additional instruction to the student. Such utilization of the droid is often to maintain minor and mundane adjustments or to simulate an error in a system or the vessel for the student to overcome.
  • Underwing Weapon Hardpoints- As the TC-M7 is intended for predominately military use, each vessel comes equipped with four weapon hardpoints that are located beneath the wings of the vessel. These hard points can be utilized to equip the vessel with practice or dummy bombs - inert ordnance without an explosive component - to train students in bombing runs against static or moving targets.

WEAKNESSES
  • Training Blaster Cannons - As the TC-M7 is a military variant training craft, it is equipped with training blaster cannons. These weapons are low-yield weapon that produces minimal or no damage to a target upon a successful strike. As such, these vessels are not intended to be taken into combat as their weapon capabilities would not be on par with a starfighter equipped with more powerful blaster cannons or laser cannons. Use of the TC-M7 should be relegated to positions and training facilities far behind any skirmish, front, or war zone.
  • Limited Protection - The TC-M7 is equipped with limited armor platting as well as rudimentary shielding. It is still highly unadvised to utilize the vessel in a war zone as its defensive capabilities - though greater than the TC-21 - are still not on par with similar starfighters.

DESCRIPTION
Where the Aether TC-21 was designed with the intention of being predominately utilized by civilian organizations, private individuals, or similar non-military groups to assist in training pilots; the Aether TC-M7 is meant to serve as an advanced trainer starfighter specifically to be utilized by military forces and mercenary organizations. The TC-M7 itself is a military variant of the civilian TC-21, however, it still shares many design elements of the civilian model in its own design. This can be seen in its use of a tandem cockpit, which seats a student at the primary flight controls in the front with a flight instruction in the rear with a secondary set of flight controls. Likewise, the TC-M7 is capable of being equipped to handle multiple training roles that can include basic flight training, advanced flight training, dog-fighting training, bombing run training, and mission management training. Though it is a vessel intended for military use, its designation as a training starfighter has seen it equipped with Training Blaster Cannons, low-yield blaster cannons that are otherwise incapable of doing noticeable or sufficient damage to another vessel.

Similar to its civilian variant, the TC-M7 is also equipped with an astromech slot which can hold a single astromech droid to be utilized by the flight instructor to assist in additional training and simulations. Said astromech droid is often utilized to handle the more minute and mundane tasks and corrections of the vessel unless otherwise noted as to serve in the function of a training simulation for the student in how to handle corrections of the craft or repair and bypassing of damaged systems. Each TC-M7 is also designed with weapon hard points that are located beneath the wings, with these hard points being able to handle practice bombs to assist in bombing run training simulations. Many of the other design features of the TC-21 tandem cockpit are also within the TC-M7 which includes the various heads-up displays located within the cockpit proper.

As the Aether TC-21 is designed to fill a niche market within the civilian world, the Aether TC-M7 is, likewise, designed to fill that niche market within the military world. These vessels provide a means in which a relatively inexpensive vessel can be utilized to rapidly train pilots whilst keeping more expensive and combat-ready starfighters on the front lines or in combat rather than taking them away for training, thus leaving fighter wings and squadrons without much-needed resources.
