STRENGTHS
  • Tandem Cockpit - The TC-21 was designed to facilitate the training of personnel and features a tandem cockpit. This designs places the student up front with the primary flight controls with seating for a flight instructor at the rear of the cockpit. This secondary seat also has a secondary set of flight controls that would allow the flight instructor to take over when needed or to provide an initial display or instruction prior to handing control over to the student.
  • Astromech Slot - Each TC-21 is capable of slotting in an Astromech Droid to assist both the Student and Flight Instructor in the operation of the craft. The astromech is also utilized to handle the more mundane and minor adjustments required for the operation of the craft so that both the student and instructor can focus on the flight lesson.
  • Log Recorder - A system that is installed on various vessels, and records vital data such as system status and flight path. These logs are utilized to provide additional training to students as well as to assist in diagnosing problems in the craft and resolving any issues those problems may cause. In addition, these logs can also assist in reconstructing accidents or crashes that have occurred involving the vessel.

WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed - As the TC-21 is a craft intended for civilian use and in the course of training individuals to pilot said craft, it is not equipped with any form of armament or defensive capabilities. Its design was not intended to be utilized as a fighter craft, though that will be unlikely to deter individuals that customize their craft with aftermarket extensions.
  • No Hyperdrive - Initially designed as a training craft, the TC-21 was not equipped with a Hyperdrive and is incapable of being moved from a system without the assistance of a dedicated carrier to ferry it to its destination.

DESCRIPTION
The Aether TC-21 was designed to serve in the role of an Advanced Trainer Starfighter to assist in the training of individuals or military personnel to be flight ready prior to piloting more advanced craft. This is accomplished due to the TC-21's capability of being equipped to handle a multitude of training roles including basic flying training, advanced flying training, and mission management training. Due to its designation as a training craft, the TC-21 lacks any armament or defensive capability as it is not intended to be utilized in a combat role, however, it is unlikely that its intended use will deter individuals from modifying their craft with after-market additions or customizations. In addition, the TC-21 is not equipped with a Hyperdrive and requires that the craft(s) be transported via a dedicated carrier or carrier craft to their destination in which they are required.

Each craft is equipped with an Astromech Slot which is utilized by the Flight Instructor to further assist in the training of the Student as the accompanying Astromech can handle the more minute corrections and repairs to allow the student to focus on their primary training. Additionally, the Flight Instructor can utilize the Astromech to simulate a flight issue to train their student in overcoming a specific issue during flight to further enhance their training. The tandem cockpit of a TC-21 includes a series of displays, a primary flight display, and two multi-function displays to be used in system and mission management. These displays and internal instruments are also laid out in a similar design to mimic the placement as seen in a front-line combat craft for a dash of greater realism in training and to further prepare those students that will face additional flight training in combat craft further down the line.

Designed to fill a niche market, the Aether TC-21 provides a cost-effective means by which an organization can train its pilots without risking a more expensive or advanced fighter craft. The tandem cockpit design allows a Flight Instructor to further assist in the training, or take over the craft as needed to prevent an incident or display a specific maneuver or instruct on the flight lesson.
