STRENGTHS
  • Manipulator Arms - The Aether MC-19 retains design similarities and aesthetics with its sister vessels and is equipped with a series of manipulator arms that are utilized in accomplishing its tasks of maneuvering asteroids, starship components, and other stellar debris. Located on either side of the main spherical body of the craft, each manipulator arm consists of a set of paddle manipulators that, while lacking dexterity for delicate operations, can be equipped with magnetic components to maintain a tight grip on salvaged starship components or easily dig into larger stellar debris.
  • R-PB6 Repair Unit - As with its sister vessels, the nature of the work in which the MC-19 finds itself and is expected to be deployed requires that each craft comes equipped with a sophisticated repair unit to assist in minor repairs. The R-PB6 Unit launches short-range probe droids that can be utilized to repair the craft or repair nearby vessels and structures in the vicinity of the launcher.
  • G2-GE Beamdrill - Each Aether MC-19 is equipped with these specialized, medium-sized tools that are utilized in mining operations, though are just as capable at cutting through other materials such as plastics, waste materials, and durasteel plating. This particular model comes with a visual scanner that can warn the operator of any nearby objects or craft within a range of twenty meters that may come in contact with the beam emitted from the drill.
WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed - The Aether MC-19 is designated as a Civilian Craft and is intended to be utilized in such a manner. Though capable of carrying mining charges, these are low yield and are ineffective against the reinforced and hardened armor plating of warships or starfighters. Each MC-19 does not come with any form of armament and is otherwise incapable of being equipped with such weaponry as laser cannons, ion cannons, or launchers without heavy modification of the craft.
  • Low Speed - While these craft are highly maneuverable, they are, nonetheless, slow due in part to heavier reinforced armor plating. While precision movements and maneuvers remained in mind with the design of these craft, as they were with the Aether HC-15 and Aether CM-03, it was not intended to be a fast-moving vessel, and is otherwise incapable of outrunning or running down starfighters or similar vessels.
  • Low Squadron Count - The increased size and space required to properly support and maintain these vessels means that fewer of these craft can be easily carried and deployed from a hangar bay.
DESCRIPTION
The Aether MC-19 is the continued progression of the Aether HC-15 and Aether CM-03 and is intended to handle mining operations and salvage operations whilst also providing the means to handle the valuable materials produced during those operations. Each Aether MC-19 retains the spherical design of the HC-15 and CM-03 that was heavily inspired by the designs of the GS-100 Salvage Ship and the Kaminoan KE-8 Enforcer, as seen via the equipped manipulator arms. Where the Aether MC-19 differs from its siblings is the addition of a G2-GE Beamdrill located at the top of the craft that juts forward above the main manipulator Arms. The Aether MC-19 also provides additional room inside the craft for a dedicated technician whose sole job is to operate the drill, as well as providing room in which an astromech droid can be slotted to assist with the handling and operation of both the craft and its manipulator limbs.

These craft are notably larger than their siblings, though retaining many of the heavier defensive capabilities of the Aether HC-15 due to the nature of their work. This increased size has the downside of reducing the overall number of these vessels that can be deployed in a squadron complement, as they require additional room to be properly stored and maintained. Likewise, the Aether MC-19 is noted as having a reduced speed and limited acceleration due to the heavy armor plating utilized to protect the crew operating these craft. As with the HC-15 and CM-03, the Aether MC-19 is designated as a civilian craft, and as such, it lacks any form of offensive armaments or capabilities, with such armaments only being available via heavy after-market modification of these craft.

As the need for resources grows due to continued conflict, and salvage yards rapidly become filled as derelict craft are brought in, the Aether MC-19 comes onto the scene to fill the need for a capable mining craft that can also be utilized in assisting with salvaging starship components that the Aether HC-15 and Aether CM-03 are ill-equipped to handle. The G2-GE Beamdrill and the means to be equipped with mining charges, as well as a fusion cutter and welding torch, means that the Aether MC-19 has a long operational life ahead of itself alongside its sibling vessels both in the Core Worlds and beyond into the fringes of the Outer Rim Territories.
