STRENGTHS
  • Manipulator Arms - With a design heavily inspired by the GS-100 and the KE-8 vessels, the Aether CM-03 was outfitted with a set of manipulator arms that are located on either side just below the pod-shaped main body of the craft. Utilizing these manipulator arms, the pilot of the Aether CM-03 can easily maneuver cargo pods in and out of position to either load them onto an awaiting freighter or off-load them from a freighter at their final destination.
  • Squadron Capacity - The relatively small size of the Aether CM-03 permits a larger number of these support craft to be carried on a vessel that is capable of supporting additional smaller craft in their hangar bays.
  • High Maneuverability - Due to its smaller spherical design coupled with a series of maneuvering jets, the Aether CM-03 is highly maneuverable and more than capable of performing rapid movements and maneuvers that similar craft would have difficulty executing. This high maneuverability ensures that the vessel can easily operate in smaller confined spaces or maneuver between multiple freighters while moving cargo pods into position.

WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed - As the Aether CM-03 is designated for Civilian use and to be utilized in the course of on-loading and off-loading of cargo pods from freighters, the craft comes straight from the production line unarmed. Each Aether CM-03 lacks any kind of armament or the ability to be armed without heavy second-hand modifications and should not be utilized in a combat capacity.
  • Minimal Defenses - The design of the Aether CM-03 provides enough defensive capability to withstand minor strikes to its hull like those often encountered in space from debris or asteroids. Though more than capable of handling these minor strikes, its defensive capabilities are not intended to withstand heavier blows such as those from weapon fire or collision with larger objects.
  • Minimal Speed - The Aether CM-03 was designed with maneuverability and precision in mind with any kind of high speed being a second or third thought. As such, the Aether CM-03 was not designed to be capable of outrunning or otherwise keeping pace with vessels such as dedicated Starfighter Interceptors.

DESCRIPTION
Designed to further assist in the maneuvering of cargo pods in the course of on-loading and off-loading them from Bulk Freighters and Cargo Transports, the Aether CM-03 was produced to provide a support craft that could be carried directly by the Aether CT-23 or be kept onboard Trading Stations to assist in the movement of cargo. Each Aether CM-03 is heavily inspired by the GS-100 Salvage Ships and the Kaminonan KE-8 Enforcers as can be seen in the manipulator arms that are located on either side of the craft just below the main spherical body. These manipulator arms can be utilized to maneuver cargo pods into or out of position during the normal course of operations in loading and unloading vessels. Its small spherical design allows for a larger number of these vessels to be carried onboard dedicated carriers, carrier craft, or space stations to be utilized in a support role. As the Aether CM-03 is designated as a civilian craft they are unarmed and otherwise incapable of carrying an armament without heavy modifications to the craft itself.

As its focus is on the maneuvering of cargo pods rather than speed, it is slower than similar vessels or dedicated interceptors as the craft can be easily overtaken. Likewise, it is not suggested that the craft be utilized in an attempt to run down or overtake anything faster than an errant cargo pod that was knocked from its position. Additionally, the Aether CM-03 is equipped with enough defensive capabilities to withstand minor strikes such as from debris, an errant cargo pod, or smaller asteroids and is not rated to withstand strikes from weaponry or collisions with larger vessels or spatial objects.

The Aether CM-03 is designed and intended to fill a minor niche and is meant to provide a means in which to assist in the more common usage of tractor beams to move objects into position. A piloted Aether CM-03 provides a more secure means of maneuvering an object and can assist in preventing an accidental collision which may be more common with the heavy usage and reliance upon tractor beams.
