STRENGTHS
  • Automated - The FT-02 is a highly automated craft with many of the internal secondary and tertiary systems being handled by these automated systems. This allows the FT-02 to be crewed by a smaller crew while also ensuring that critical systems such as navigation and life support remain in the hands of the organic crew.
  • Increased Defenses - Each of these craft boasts improved and impressive defensive capabilities as a means to ensure that the vital cargo and supplies carried by these craft make it to their destination.
  • High Cargo Volume - The design of these craft focuses heavily on an increased cargo capacity, allowing it to carry larger quantities of supplies and materials. This increased capacity allows even a single vessel to resupply sizable forces or ferry larger quantities of supplies to where they are needed the most.
WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Armament - Focusing on maximizing and placing an emphasis on Cargo Capacity, the additional room required to carry such a surplus of supplies has resulted in many of the weapon systems being omitted from the finished product.
  • Minimal Support - The FT-02 was designed to focus on Cargo Capacity over other key points, resulting in much of the internal space being dedicated to cargo. As such, these craft are only capable of supporting and deploying a singular Starfighter Squadron to provide additional support.
  • Automated -With many of the secondary and tertiary systems having been automated, they are also highly susceptible to Ion-based weaponry or EMP-based strikes. This has the potential of rendering the vessel inoperable, as the limited organic crew would have difficulty maintaining the larger vessel on their own without the assistance of the installed automated systems and accompanying droid contingent.
DESCRIPTION
The need to secure one's logistics and supply chains has just as importance, and bearing on winning wars as boots on the ground or vast armadas securing the stars above. This need and the ability to feed and keep a force well supplied is what saw the creation of the first Hajen-class Fleet Tender that had been developed to fill a specific niche need within the Galactic Alliance. With the Alliance now gone, the need to provide resources, materials, and supplies remains, and thus, the Aether FT-02 was developed and produced as the successor of the older Hajen-class. These crafts share many similar design aesthetics and features present in their predecessors, though on a larger scale, as the FT-02 is markedly larger than the Hajen-class and boasts an increased cargo capacity over its predecessor.

Designing these vessels to focus more on Cargo Capacity, however, has come at its own cost, that being, a lack of armaments. Much of the internal space that would have been utilized to install the systems required for armaments has been dedicated to cargo, leaving the FT-02 with only a minimal arsenal to defend itself with. Likewise, though capable of supporting and deploying multiple support craft, the vessel is only capable of deploying a singular Starfighter Squadron for additional support during long hauls. As a means to attempt to mitigate these drawbacks, the FT-02 was designed with increased defensive measures and is known to be able to achieve higher speeds and rapid acceleration at Sublight compared to similarly sized vessels.

Another cost-saving measure that was implemented to further increase the cargo capacity is the inclusion of automated systems, with many of the secondary and tertiary systems being handled via automation to free up the organic crew for other tasks. This also allows the vessel to be crewed with a smaller complement; however, it also comes at the cost of an increased susceptibility to Ion-based and EMP-based weaponry or strikes. While it is unlikely to be seen slugging it out on the front lines, the Aether FT-02 still serves an important role that cannot be understated. Now, with the design being republished for the public market, it is only a matter of time until these vessels see widespread use across the Galaxy.
