HIMS
Cystal Grav Trap

Strengths:

 • Heavily Automated: The ship is designed to be run with a single operator or a minimal crew by leaning heavily on the automated systems run by the Aesir Network

 • Cloak: The Sleipnir comes with a Stygium Cloaking device that allows the ship to vanish from standard sensors.

 • Aesir Network: Perhaps the key system on the ship the Aesir network is a series of connected droid brains that run the ship and its systems (Please see below for detailed breakdown)

 • Advance Comms and Networking Features: The Sleipnir contains the very latest in cutting-edge communications technology. Locke and Key’s Freyja communications system is complemented by the Harmonia allowing it to tap and access telepathic communications. The ship also comes equipped with a Ghostwave generator allowing it to piggyback its communications on other transmissions.

 • I see you: With the preponderance of Stealth ships starting to wash across the galaxy the Sleipnir had a crystal grav trap installed, perfect for spotting other stealth vessels.

 • Hit me, I dare you: The Sleipnir is equipped with Molecular shields that can take the energy attacks directed at the ship, absorb them and redirect the energy into ships systems. The Molecular shields though are not useful against physical attacks leaving the Sleipnir to rely on standard deflector shields. The Molecular shields can also be overwhelmed by energy attacks if a powerful enough, or repeated attacks are shot at it, overwhelming the shield as they would a normal energy shield.
Weaknesses:

 • Heavily Automated: The heavy automation of the ship means that it has a minimal crew, meaning that in the case of boarding or damage control the ship is undermanned for it's size when dealing with serious incidents.

 • Tech Reliant: The Sleipnir is heavily reliant on technology to allow for its reduced crew to operate the ship. Unfortunately this leaves the ship very vulnerable to anti-electronic attacks such as ion/emp attacks or slicing.

 • There you are: While a cloak is very effective at hiding a ship from standard sensors, that isn’t to say it is impossible to locate the ship. Advanced sensors like the crystal grav trap, or a detailed scan of space to locate the wake of the hidden’s ships engines.

 • Ghostwave: While the ghostwave allows for stealthy communications, it does so at the cost of reduced transmission speed and size. The ghostwave doesn’t mean that communications can’t be traced, just that it is harder to locate them, also without other transmissions the Ghostwave is useless.
Description:

The Sleipnir started out as a testbed for Locke and Key’s ship-based technology, a smaller vessel they could use to try out new tech and options while building prototypes. However, as the company grew, so to did their need for a larger testbed. Rather than dismantle the Sleipnir the trial ship was repurposed into a personal transport for Locke and Key Mechanics liaison to the Silver Jedi, Asaraa Vaashe.

The Sleipnir is a 100m long 2-level transport ship. While not as luxuriously equipped as the Helios Star Yachts the Sleipnir is a very comfortable ship packed with the latest technologies to leave the labs of Locke and Key Mechanics.

(Rooms described go from to back for both levels, transport between levels is by means of a lift or ladders scattered around the ship.)

Top level

The Bridge

720px-600i-600I-COCKPIT-V2.jpg

Set at the very front of the ship the bridge provides a panoramic view with a large wrap around transparisteel window providing the crew with an excellent view of the space around them. The bridge takes advantage of Locke and Key’s Skynet Control system to retains a very minimalist look. While each stations does contain a variety of screens and controls the ship is designed to be controlled using the holographic displays of the System.

The bridge contains seats for 3 crew members, with each seat able to be programmed with various functions, from flight, communications depending on the crew member sitting there. The central seat is the most versatile, designed to control the ship alone when no other crew are present, relying on the support of the Aesir Network to manage the entire ship’s systems.

Living Quarters

640px-600i-Josh-Fix-02.jpg

The Sleipnir comes equipped with 4 rooms set across from one another in the corridor. Each room contains enough space for 2 people, a desk closet and a refresher. While not the height of luxury each room is a comfortable and relaxing environment for the crew and guests to use. While the Aesir network maintains some sensors in the rooms for monitoring, some degree of privacy is afforded as there is no video of the room inhabitants.

Infirmary

A basic infirmary equipped with everything you might need to keep yourself topped off on long flights. It’s not able to handle serious injuries that would require the hospital however, not does it contain a bacta tank.

Lounge

The most visible point of note in the lounge is the presence of the same large unobstructed transparisteel windows which make up the back wall and ceiling of the room. These transparisteel windows can be tinted or left open to give a view of space or and interstellar objects you are flying by. The lounge consists of two sofas with a low table between them and set back from the window a galley/bar.

The Lower Level

Dojo

qGH3uV4.jpg

(x)

The Sleipnir is at its core a ship designed for a Jedi warrior, as such the designers included a large empty room with armoured walls (durasteel) which can resist passing bolts from blasters and even a graze from a lightsaber. A room with active sound cancelling technologies applied to the door creating a sanctum of peace and tranquility where one can practice or meditate without the distractions of the rest of the ship. Do to the soundproofed nature of the room it can also be used as a secure communications room.

Aesir Network

ben-lo-sam-core02-env.jpg

(x)
The Sleipnir is designed to operate with a minimal crew complement, it’s owner, Asaraa Vaashe often operating the ship alone. The network operates by slaving a series of specialised droid brains together under the control of a master droid brain. The specialised droid brains are responsible for specific functions of the ship as follows:

Piloting
Communications/ECM
Weapons/Tac
Sensors
Engines/Repairs
Navigation
Services/Droids
Auxiliary

While many ships, such as the Millennium Falcon, make use of droid brains to help run their systems the Aesir Network differs in the addition of the managing droid brain which sits at the apex of the network managing and coordinating the other droid brains. (OOC: For an idea of how it works think of the RedvsBlue episode where the multiple AI fragments are each managing a separate part of Texas’ armour). The system works in the same way, each specific ship's system is controlled by a specialised droid brain, one incapable of speech, only capable of performing their set tasks, controlling the various ships functions. The key to the system is the droid brain which sits at the apex of the system. The droid brain’s primary function is to manage the other droid brains running the ship and to provide an interface for the ship’s user. While it might not be the pilot, the master brain provides the pilot with the sensor data and plots the course for him to follow. While it might not control the ECM, it provides the oversight and control setting up the ECM. While the Aesir network is more than capable of running the ship by itself, or with minimal human interaction, it lacks the insight and intuition an organic crew can provide. However, thanks to the networked structure and the central brain, the system is more capable than a straight set of hardwired droid brains would be. The central brain can be accessed remotely, allowing instructions to be delivered, or the ship to be operated by someone who has the correct access codes.

The Aesir network is stored in a secured vault located on the lower level of the ship. Much like the armoury the walls and door are made of thick Durasteel, preventing access to the room by any who are not duly authorised. The room also contains connections for additional computers and electronics to be plugged into the system.

Armoury

The only room on the ship outside of Odin’s control the armoury is exactly what it sounds like, a room for the storage of weapons, armour and other important documents. The Armoury has a stand-alone internal computer that governs the biometric access and conditions in the vault. Some basic weaponry is kept in racks outside the vault as are the tools needed to maintain the blasters, blades and armour stored in the room. The only connection the Aesir Network has with the armoury is a binary connection to the doors able to seal them shut but nothing else. To open the doors requires a biometric key from Asaraa or someone duly authorised by her.

Workshop/Droid Storage

A combined workshop and droid storage area where the droids that run the ship can retreat for repairs and recharge out of the way.

The Cargobay

sci_fi_hangar_by_vattalus-d8i9enr.png

(x)

The lower rear section of the ship contains a small cargobay capable of holding only 2 standard sized fighters/speeders and supplies to run the ship.

The Cloak

The Sleipnir comes equipped with a cloaking device, a Stygium device that creates a field around the ship that prevents sensors and other standard detection devices from detecting the ship. As with all other cloaked ships it can still be detected by a Crystal Grav Trap.

Pardon the delay! Let's get started:

Do you have permission to use the Tenjin, Sentinel, and Rhongomyniad? Each requires permission, either marketplace purchase or direct approval from the author. Please provide those when you can!

Next, this vessel is a little stacked. I'm hard pressed to see its Molecular Shields, the Phalanx Shields, and Loki Suite as Average in terms of defense. If you want to have them all on this ship, you'll need to change the rating to High.

In addition, you'll need to lower a total of two ratings to balance things out. Let me know once you've made your changes and we'll continue on!

First off [member="Darth Metus"], thank you for picking up the sub to review :)

To answer your first point, the Silver Jedi Order affiliated companies have a policy where all technology, including weapons, are available for use by one another. (x) In terms of Lucerne, I also have permission from the marketplace (x).

In terms of the defences, I have removed the molecular shields. Will I still need to upgrade the rating?

In terms of the other ratings, I have nothing against dropping my speed and manoeuvrability ratings to average. I was just hoping you could explain why I need to beforehand? As I calculate it by going to unique I have 4 rating points to play with, 2 to offence, 1 to speed and 1 to manoeuvrability. As I said, I'm happy to make the adjustment, I'd just like to know where my calculations went wrong so I can adjust my future subs.

[member="John Locke"]

I also received your PM with evidence of the Silver Jedi's policy, stating this here for the record.

That said, lowering the ratings is only required if you kept the Defenses at the High level that they are now. Removing the Molecular Shields helps significantly and I'd consider the combination of the Loki and the Phalanx as Moderate at this point, so if you wanted to keep them both on the ship you'll only need to lower one level.

For clarity, your math was right, you did have four points to play with - it's simply the gear you've selected did not match the Average rating that's causing the hiccup. Once you've made your tweaks, we can proceed!

[member="Darth Metus"]

Excellent, thank you for your understanding.

And thank you for explaining your calculations here, it seems I was hoist on my own petard there lol. It makes sense, I just hadn't considered them from that angle.

I've kept both the Phalanx and the Loki, so I've moved the defence rating up to moderate and reduced the manoeuvrability down to average.

[member="Lily Kuhn"]

Thanks, I had forgotten about that rule. I've changed the produced to the Silver Jedi Order, will that be ok? If not I can ask one of my friends with a company above Tier 4 to let me use their company for this submission. Please let me know.
