SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

Damind Focused Blade - By concentrating the energy output of the diatium power cell through a damind focusing lens, the resulting blade is broader than a typical lightsaber. Though the augmented blade is not as dramatic as a broadsaber or the use of damind as the primary crystal, the lens still produces a marginally wider surface, which offers the wielder some benefits when blocking & deflecting incoming projectiles.
Guarded Hilt - The inclusion of a crossguard made from lightsaber-resistant material offers some protection for the wielder's hands when engaged in melee combat. In addition, this ancient design affords the wielder a better grip of the weapon and allows for finer control over its movement.
It’s a Lightsaber - A powerful tool that is capable of cutting through a wide array of materials with relative ease, but not without faults. The lightsaber’s blade is incapable of functioning underwater without special modifications, and in the modern day there are plenty of options available to stand against and even counter the weapon’s renowned effectiveness.
Toggled Blade - The use of a locking activation stud allows the lightsaber to remain ignited even if it’s not being held. This means the wielder can use complex maneuvers without the need to maintain a hold on a pressure grip or the focus needed to trigger a force-activated blade. It can also be a significant hazard for the untrained/unfamiliar, as the activated blade is capable of dealing significant damage to the wielder and/or their surroundings if they become disarmed.
Cortosis - This material is not just resistant to the strikes of a lightsaber, but capable of negating them altogether. Due to its unusually high energy absorption and transmission coefficients, cortosis can temporarily short out the blade of a lightsaber upon contact, rendering it momentarily useless.
DESCRIPTION

With his original lightsaber having become irrevocably corrupted by the Chaosbound entity known as Abaddon, it was ultimately destroyed when Aeris broke free of the ancient spirit’s possession. The destruction of the relic weapon was to be the last of the many devastating losses faced by the young Jedi Knight during his traumatic time as Abaddon’s Vessel. Fortunately, Aeris was able to recover a fragment of the blade’s damind crystal, along with a small portion of the cherished songsteel that had been gifted to him by his family and used for the lightsaber’s casing.

Aeris created this lightsaber after traveling to Ilum to seek out a new kyber crystal with members of the New Jedi Order. Deciding on an ancient hilt design from the High Republic Era for the replacement, he chose to incorporate the salvaged songsteel as a crossguard and the fragment of his old damind crystal as a focusing lens for the blade. Although this new saber is less extravagant than his previous one, it carries forward some of its memories through the recycled materials.
