Rogue Wolf
DESCRIPTION
Acier Moonbound had never been particularly fond of armor. Throughout his travels he developed something of a reputation for entering increasingly dangerous situations wearing little more protection than the clothes on his back, preferring mobility over the restrictions of conventional armor.
Following the Battle of Thyferra,
"Lorn's gonna get you killed, take this so it won't hurt as bad."
Tailored specifically to Ace's frame, the chainmail is designed to be worn beneath his usual tunic, protecting his torso and extending beneath its sleeves and lower panels without significantly restricting his movement. Though the beskar rings provide considerable protection against energy weapons and lightsabers, the flexible weave lacks the impact distribution and complete coverage of solid beskar plate.
Beyond its practical purpose, the gift carries personal significance. Ace wears the beskar of his Verd heritage beneath the clothing of the Jedi he has chosen to become, allowing both parts of his identity to exist together without either defining him completely. Beskar rests beneath the clothing of a Jedi; Verd and Moonbound, inheritance and choice.
Ultimately, it gives Aether some peace of mind and Ace a better chance of surviving the next impossible situation he inevitably throws himself into.
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Constructed from numerous small, interlocking beskar rings.
- Tailored specifically to Acier Moonbound and designed to be concealed beneath his usual clothing.
- Flexible construction allows substantially greater freedom of movement than conventional beskar plate.
- Covers the torso, upper arms, and upper legs while leaving the extremities and head unprotected.
- Individual links can be repaired or replaced following damage.
- Beskar Weave: Forged from beskar, the individual links possess exceptional resistance to blaster fire, lightsabers, and other energy-based weapons. The interlocking construction provides considerable protection without requiring rigid armor plating.
- Light on His Feet: Unlike conventional Mandalorian plate armor, the chainmail remains flexible and relatively unobtrusive. Acier retains the freedom of movement necessary for acrobatics, lightsaber combat, and the highly mobile fighting style he favors.
- Hidden Protection: The armor was designed as an underlayer rather than an external suit. It can be worn beneath Acier's normal tunic without substantially changing his appearance or immediately advertising that he is armored.
- Still Chainmail: Beskar may prevent a weapon from penetrating the individual rings, but the flexible weave does little to eliminate the force transferred through them. Heavy impacts, powerful strikes, explosions, falls, and similar kinetic trauma can still injure Acier without ever breaking the armor itself.
- Mind the Gaps: Chainmail consists of interconnected rings rather than a continuous plate. Particularly narrow weapons, sufficiently precise attacks, or damage that separates or distorts sections of the weave can potentially exploit openings in the armor.
- Partial Coverage: The chainmail protects primarily Acier's torso, upper arms, and upper legs. His head, hands, lower arms, and lower legs receive no protection from the mail itself.
- Not Beskar Plate: While made from the same material, chainmail cannot provide the same structural protection or distribution of force as solid beskar plating. Sustained attacks can still overwhelm the wearer even when the links themselves survive.
