A vote of no confidence

Arthos had a golden chance one that might never come again in his lifetime. The Chancellor was to blame for a possible war with every single faction, and now there was an opening to strike with. If he could complete this challenge he would bypass all powers, and be the master of his own fate.

Pushing the switch to bring his chair forward before the Senate he spoke. "Senators of the Republic, and citizen of the galaxy I beseech you to heed my words. The Republic is at the brink of war, and quite possibly the members of the Ithor treaty are meeting at this moment to discuss that very possibility. They are dividing up our worlds amongst themselves, and counting the credits to be made."

Looking around he felt the attention on him, and gloried in it. "The Jedi against orders from their own Council joined the Chancellor on a military invasion of a world we had no jurisdiction on! This invasion under the pretense of invasion under a police action cannot be tolerated, and the result of bringing us to the state of war is heinous. As the Chancellor has left us without another word, or with any other pretense of leadership. I call for a vote of no confidence in the Chancellor."

The Vice Chancellor of the Republic, and Interim Chancellor due to Aleidis's absence, Philip J. Halen turned to glare at @[member="Arthos Vynea"].

"For one, Mr. Vynea. Aleidis did not go there to attack. She went to retrieve objects stolen from the Republic and Jedi by a pack of Rogue Sith, who ALSO may I add.. Are the suspects of blowing up the two worlds on our borders. I was in communication with the Chancellor until her final disappearance, and they acted without her orders, and continued to attack while DEFYING her orders"

"The one thing that Aleidis did was leave. THAT and ONLY that is why I vote for no confidence" Halen said. "While my vote is had, I will NOT tolerate slander without proof in this board. Are we understood?" the Interim Chancellor said firmly. Once again, the corruptness of his fellow Senators was beginning to show, as they always did when they saw an opportunity to seize power. This was why he had ran for Vice Chancellor, and why once again he would run for Chancellor if it was needed, because unlike the others, he loved the Republic, and only wanted good for it.

"It was only inevitable." The voice of the Onderonian senator known as Jentara Vel spoke up. "If anyone was truly foolish enough to not see that this was an attempt by the Jedi to turn the Republic in line with their way of thinking, they should be voted from their office right now." In truth, she was quite frustrated with the entire circumstances of Aleidis - Jentara had expected better of her, but evidently she was nothing more than a pawn to the Jedi Order, just like any other Jedi Chancellors.

"I support the Vote of No Confidence."

Alena watched with a bored expression the whole procession. The vice chancellor seemed quite passionate about the topic, but to Alena, whom the chancellor of the Republic was did not matter much. What mattered was that Kuat's interests and profits were being represented in the Republic.

"I vote yes for the Vote of No Confidence." she said into her microphone.

Arthos simply smiled as he sat back and listened to @Jentara Vel speaking of the Jeid's interference. "Ageed, this is the Jedi's fault. Even if the Chancellor as you claimed didn't mean this war to come to our doorstep. It was the Jedi who disobeyed then and started the violence. Was it not the Jedi who just recently hired a war criminal to attack a Republic world? I believe a Master Syn by name. Yes they keep throwing them out of the Oder but somehow they keep appearing. The Jedi's military authority should have been removed long ago. Some Order of peace and protection they tuned out to be."

Keela could not help but feel the growing pressure being brought by these charges. As much as she hated to admit it, with no chancellor around to defend herself, things needed to be taken into account. Action needed to be taken. But it was difficult for her to hear the claims against the Jedi. She admired the Jedi dearly but she could not believe the rouge attackers who were involved in this. She shook her head and took a deep sigh as she waited to give her vote.

This thread, frankly, is a mockery of anything approaching roleplay. There's only one character in here with more than 30 posts and at least one of you was just created, presumably just for this thread. Stop the metagaming. If you can't be bothered to be active with your senators until they support what you want OOC, then don't bother voting. If this continues, expect this thread to be locked.

OOC: @[member="Sarge Potteiger"] - Hello there. Sorry but I am not understanding why this is 'metagaming' and 'a mockery of anything approaching roleplay'. This Galactic Republic Senate sub-forum has had pretty much no activity, and after I made my senator character I wasn't exactly motivated to do anything with her. This thread was great since it gave people with Republic politician characters a chance to actually start using them for RP. It also motivated me for the first time put my senator character into a RP... Can you say more specifically what's wrong? I certainly don't have anything OOCly against the chancellor.

I've roleplayed with Senators outside this forum; you can roleplay with your senator in more places than just here. As it stands, you're sitting on five posts and I, frankly, had little clue the character even existed until I saw you in here. Character motivation should be something intrinsic; as I stated before, if you can't be bothered to be active outside of the forum, perhaps you should rethink why you posted in here to begin with.

I point out that there is a character in here was made not even twenty minutes after the creation of this thread, and one of their first actions was to come in here and post. That reeks of metagaming.

I did not interject in this thread to start an argument. I posted in this thread so you'd know that staff is, in fact, watching. Continuing to argue will see this thread locked and considered non-canon.
