A Swift blow to the Phrik

Well, she was honest, or was it humble? The ship had helped plenty, it was from Rendili Shipyards and the Rendili Shipyards were a part of the Republic. The use for consular and diplomatic missions had certainly been fulfilled plenty of times. At the mention of a senate hearing Kana tilted her head slightly for a second before [member="Camellia Swift"] assured Kana that she already had a way to go about that.

As the woman waved Kana over to see the smelting progress she couldn’t help but noticing the nearly finished battlemaster armor. It was impressive and funny enough Kana had no idea how to describe it. Whether it would be ready for use in combat or not was after all not up to her to judge.

“Yeah, that sounds good.” Kana smiled. “I have the plans on my pad actually but it’s just text. I hope that doesn’t matter too much.”

[member="Kana Truden"]

The armor was based a lot on the concept armor of the Senatorial Guard combat gear from back in the day. The Rendili Battlemasters would be an enemy to fear should they enter the battlefield against the enemies of the Republic. Although at the same time they were all non-force users at the end of the day, but all the same Camellia couldn't help but be in awe of the equipment being manufactured for them. It truly inspired confidence and gave the feeling of a rather regal defender that would stand tall. It left her wondering what the Jedi Knight's armor would look like once Kana's set was complete. She could possibly imagine it, but when the Jedi next to her said that it was all in text instead of a drawing or measurements it made her chuckle a little. "Well it really won't too much, but you must forgive them when they take your measurements downstairs then. They'll want to make sure they fit you so the plating is the proper thickness to protect you."

A Kana took a step back as her eyes opened if only just a little. What did she mean ‘downstairs’? She gave the woman a most suspicious look as she got back in line again. Now, downstairs to Kana was definitely something she couldn’t say out-loud at this site. The working men might get a bit embarrassed that she would talk about their anatomy in such a way. She shrugged and turned back at Camellia.

“Well, I can certainly draw it up.” Kana opened opened the pad again. “Now, I imagined a few pieces of metal applied to a bodysuit of some sort. I only want to cover the vitals, really. Arms would be covered on the outside and the forearm plates would extend into a fingerless glove type-of-deal…”

Kana went on into great detail on how she intended the suit to look and work. A white thing with focus on agility over protection. In fact the protection would be minimal and she acknowledged as such with a nod as she show [member="Camellia Swift"] the drawing.

“It’s focus is not to block damage as much as ensure I can get out of danger. Now, what was that about 'measurements'?”

[member="Kana Truden"]

Well everything suddenly become much more serious and focused out of nowhere. Camellia didn't even notice where the words she used had gone, downstairs from their vantage point was an armorer's office where Kana could be checked out so the armor fit the girl correctly, looks like that hadn't gone over as well as she thought. For an indiscernible amount of time following the awkward discussion, Camellia found herself following along as the Jedi Knight went to great lengths in explaining the armor in detail, while her eyes stayed glued to the pad as it came to life as a drawing in addition to the other girl's description. In the end once everything had taken shape Camellia found herself looking at an armor that plainly was not going to be worn by someone looking to absorb every threat. It would certainly do well against blasters for a time, but it was far too thin to withstand enough blunt blows from a physically powerful being with a suitable weapon, or many heavy lightsaber blows.

However, it was phrik, and it was clear this armor was meant to deal with the attacks would get through the Jedi's guard which shouldn't be too many. It would protect Kana from most blaster fire, and it would take several repeated blows from a heavy weapon or lightsaber to break through it still. Rendili Stardrive's CEO gave it a nod of approval. "Ok I see where you're going with this. Let's get going then. The armorer's office is one level down, they'll check your measurements to calculate how much material they need and how they need to shape and fit the sections of the armor."

With a shake of her head she forced her consciousness back into action. It felt like weeks since Kana had acted on anything. To get to the armorer’s office seemed like a good idea and Kana looked over to her guide and nodded. Waiting for [member="Camellia Swift"] to go she eventually followed behind. That armor was so close now, she could feel it and truthfully the Knight felt inappropriately excited, materialism rules be damned she wanted it the more she thought on it.

“That sounds great.” She stated in a simple approval. “I have to admit I am getting a bit too excited for my own good here.”

A small smile erupted as she looked down the corridor in front of them. Soon, very soon, Kana could feel a lot safer on the fields. Whether it hampered her movement or not though was very much still up in the air, wasn’t it?

[member="Kana Truden"]

It somehow really did feel as though it had been weeks since they had started heading towards the armorer's office. Either they had become the slowest people in the galaxy or they had a very distorted sense of time. Regardless they were on their way now, Kana close behind the Rendili Stardrive CEO as they went down the corridor and a few flights of stairs. Camellia had to admit it was definitely exciting to imagine herself too. The Jedi Knight wearing phrik armor produced by Rendili, though it was Kana's own design, would perhaps spread in word and bring more individuals to the planet from the Jedi Order or Republic Commando units. "So am I, I hope you'll find the final product to your liking."

Arriving at the room shortly after, Camellia waved over to one of the folk inside and called them over. "This is Jedi knight Kana Truden, she's ordering a set of phrik armor from us, and this facility will handle the order specifically. Take her aside and get her measurements so we can put in a call for the weighted material so you can shape her something from her design. She'll show you those notes as well."

Kana nodded as she handed the sketches over without much of a word. The armorers gave her a strange look. She returned the same look right back at them. Not everyone favored big bulky armors, some people favored movement and evasion for protection. They dragged her aside as measurements were made all over her body. She had to admit that someone felt particularly hard-handed but if it meant she got her armor she was good with it.

She adapted a t-pose as the workers went over her. A quick half-worried look passed Camellia’s way before she went back to staring straight ahead. Thigh measurements was not Kana’s thing at all!

“Do we have any sort of ETA when the armor could be done?”

She resisted the urge to slap the workers as they continued work on her legs.

Camellia tried not to snicker or giggle as Kana was quickly looked over by several armorers who began to take her various measurements. It was quite hilarious to watch the Jedi Knight fidget beneath their work as they measured out her waist, hips, bust, shoulders, thighs, and general height and the circumference of her limbs. The other woman's shy looks and the worried glance sent the Rendili Stardrive CEO's way only made Camellia take more delight in the situation. Although there was a twinge of jealousy and distaste watching some of the men's hands pass over the girl's body. Kana was admittedly very pretty, it made Cam wish her hands were doing the measuring.

Maybe she could if Kana was as nervous about the guy's beginning their task as she looked. So she waved the workers away whispered apologies and thanks as she walked over and picked up the measuring tools herself idly. "Yours? Well as a separate order it will be worked on right away. So it depends on the smith working on it as an individual piece. I can have them devote their full time on it so I'm not sure? A week or a month maybe? No. . . .I think a week should do if they work to make it as quality as possible and its just the one set. Of course we'll have to finish getting you measure. You seemed nervous though. Would you prefer I do it or have one of the female staff handle it? Or was it just people in general, I'm sure a droid is around here too if you need one to take the measurements."

“No, it’s quite okay.” They were professionals, right? “Just not used to this kind of-” She twitched again as they measured the shinbone. “Proximity.”

And she never had been. Not since the Order anyway. The only person truly allowed within personal space was the one person she could count on for anything. Not that it was in any intimate kind of way, it was simply the one person she trusted more than anyone else. One of the workers perked their eyebrow and looked up at her.

“Sorry, that’s my prosthesis.” The confused look intensified. “Long story.”

She looked over at [member="Camellia Swift"]. The offer to help had been appreciated but Kana had faith she had hired professionals for this. She smiled at her rather awkwardly as the measurers moved on to her arms.

“Let me tell ya. I don’t envy supermodels.”

There was some disappointment, but at the same time Camellia was not such a person to get so worked up over it. She had genuinely wanted to help, and let's face it, half the people doing business personally with her were cute girls. So Rendili Stardrive's CEO just held back and watched as the armorer's resumed their chores. "Well its not like it isn't understandable. You are being crowded and handled by a number of people. Its completely understandable to feel a bit uncomfortable." Watching the actions continue to play out as the staff progressed in their work, Camellia quirked an eyebrow at Kana when the Jedi Knight revealed the fact that she had a prosthetic limb much to her surprise. "I don't know, they don't have to worry about being shot at or cut down by the Sith, or eaten by their monsters. . . . .they have it pretty easy almost. You'll have to share that long story some time."

“True enough.” Kana chuckled lightly. “My leg was a workplace mishap from long ago. It’s really not that much of a long story, come to think of it.”

The arms were easier to measure at least. A bit ticklish but that was just the proximity warnings talking. Well, that and the lack of comfort she felt having this many people up-close like this. The measuring went over and around, over and around until finally the measuring seemed complete. Or at least, so she hoped.

“I worked in a warehouse, not all of us jedi were born into the order. A shelf collapsed and I was unlucky enough to be caught in between the floor and a crate.”

A light approach for something that had bothered her not long ago. Moving on was great.

Ouch

Camellia tried not to wince while imagining the scenario. Losing a limb after being pinned beneath a heavy object did not sound pleasant at all. It certainly wasn't what the Rendili Stardrive CEO thought it would be either. Considering how much fighting the Jedi end up doing, Camellia would have placed her bets it was lost in an explosion or cut off in a duel with one of the Sith. That's what one gets for assuming things she supposed, although Cam felt fairly awful for it. At least the measuring was done as the staff nodded to her on their way out, handing her a copy of their evaluation. "Well I promise we won't ask you to move anything around the factory then. As for the phirk armor you wanted, the material isn't that significant so the price isn't much of a concern and considering you're a Jedi Knight as well. . . . . . they can have it done regardless within the week. If you like we can prepare accommodations for you if you'd rather wait for it here."

“You know what?” Kana paused for a moment. “Why not? It can’t be much worse than the beds at the temple.”

Life at the temple wasn’t a life made for comfort. They trained, they slept and they ate. Sometimes they taught but most of the times they pondered. You got used to it after a while but the offer to experience comfort was always, always welcome. She gave [member="Camellia Swift"] a appreciative smile and nod.

“It’s probably against some rule, but anything that’s soft enough to fall asleep on without me having to be exhausted would be a welcomed change.”

She approached her guide-turned-host. The hospitality was, as stated, very appreciated.

“I mean, unless you were planning on sticking me in a cargo container. Then, no.”

[member="Kana Truden"]

Actually Camellia was rather glad that the Jedi Knight accepted the hospitality, she wasn't quite sure why. Perhaps it was just that it made the company owner feel like Kana actually did want and appreciate the product that was being made for her rather than just being indifferent to the effort and merely appearing to put in the order and then pick it up later. Then again part of it was definitely because of what Kana was saying that made Rendili Stardrive's CEO happy to know she was helping out the other woman. It made her curious what the beds were like at the Jedi temple now though. Were they really that bad? If they were then she hoped Kana would enjoy a suite on the station reserved for special guests of the company during visits. There were standard ones as well for traveler's looking for a cheap stay for a night while in for brief repairs, but Camellia was hardly going to put a Jedi Knight, one who was a customer at that, in anything but the best she could offer. "No we have room on the station for special guests and spacers passing through for a night. I'll have a room set up for you readied, I'll personally pick you up when the armor is finished. until then you can feel free to do whatever or ask for almost anything you like if you need help with anything."

“I appreciate that.” Kana bowed. “Thank you.”

She let [member="Camellia Swift"] guide her to the room to be left in peace. Quiet meditation could commence in a bit but for now there was only one thing on her mind. Food. A commodity she certainly intended to find somewhere around the station.

A few days, or less, came to pass and Kana found herself sitting in meditation. Her bed had been beyond comfortable. With her own bed put to shame Kana still found herself missing home. Her armor was here, a nicer bed was here and the food tasted better, yet she still missed the life she had at the temple. It had only been a few days and yet she was homesick. She had no idea what to even make of that.

She sat in the middle of her room with a small frown on her lips. Camellia had said she’d be coming soon. The armor should be nearing completion. Soon Kana would be able to try out her armor, the one thing that would keep her relatively safe from further attempts at the battlefield.

She was excited to say the least.

[member="Kana Truden"]

In all honesty Camellia would tell her she was impatient if Kana asked her. After all, Rendili Stardrive's CEO had to wait weeks and even months for some projects to even get the greenlight, let alone for the technical development to be fully completed so that the production and completion of her own projects could come to pass. However, unlike those projects that were usually massive starships packed with unreasonable amounts of advanced technology, all the Jedi Knight had to wait for was for some armorers to shape some of the gathered phrik material into the design she had requested. And considering it wasn't some thick and all enclosing impenetrable suit that would hide every feature the woman had beneath the metal, but in truth a form fitting set of plates meant to effectively deflect glancing blows and protect against blaster bolts, it wasn't too difficult a piece to finish up.

Soon enough Camellia would be coming to see Kana, a smile on her face as she waited outside the door to the Jedi's quarters, a surprise with her i the form of a rather prettied up box with who knew what inside.

Kana got up from the floor as her subconscious told of someone arriving by the door. She didn’t know who, the register of force signatures of considerable note around here had been lacking so far but she had her ideas of who it could be. It could be the armorer, the measurers come back for round two, or [member="Camellia Swift"], of course.

She approached the door and opened it up. The ever familiar screech as the doors dragged themselves open rang through the room and on the other side stood Rendili Shipyards’ CEO herself. Kana bowed in a greeting and looked at the box. A pretty box, a very pretty box. She paused for a second to battle the excitement.

“Good morning, Miss Swift.” Kana battled herself for eye contact but couldn’t take her stare of the box. “What’s that?”

[member="Kana Truden"]

Well it was a very pretty box that was quite large to perhaps fit a very sizable thing into, a very sizable thing that could very well be uncomfortably heavy comparatively to other things due to being made of a heavy material. . . . . it was the phrik armor if the whole silliness of trying to be fun about it wasn't enjoyable for you, but to be fair for her it was heavy to carry alone like she was doing. On the other hand it was much lighter than it would have been if Kana had ordered something made out of the thicker and heavier durasteel material. Phrik was just so much better though, and Rendili Stardrive's CEO was proud to have her company make the set for Kana's use.

It was clear that the Jedi Knight likely knew what the gift was as well with the way Kana was looking at the box so excitedly. Camellia couldn't help but grin pleased that the other woman was already so energetic before even seeing the final product yet. "Well Kana its a gift from Rendili to you. Why don't you take it inside and open it huh?"

Kana took the box from [member="Camellia Swift"]. It was quite heavier than she expected and she put it down in the middle of the room. She gave her hostess a look as if it was okay to open yet before setting her sights on the box again. This was it, the moment of truth. Kana opened the box and…

“Yes!” A happy cry-out. “Thank you so much, Miss Swift.”

Kana quickly took each piece of the armor out to see which went where. Legs, arms, chest and back it was all there and she could safely stow them away into the box again. She raised her finger to the sky as if to motion Camellia to stay. Quickly she made for what had been her quarters the last few days and got to work.

Ridding herself of her jumpsuit she quickly covered her body in the provided bodysuit. The fabric hugged her skin and the familiar itch of ‘new clothes’ erupted all over her body as the familiar irritation settled in. Eventually she started to put the armor on. Piece for piece she put it on. First the front and back pieces. Holding them in place she quickly strapped them on tightly and moved on to her arms and legs.

As the assembly was done she put her jumpsuit back on. To her surprise the armor was almost concealed, though not completely. She still looked a bit more ‘buff’ than before and her movement was a bit more restrained but it definitely felt a lot safer and with a jumpsuit on top she didn’t have to feel as naked as she would wearing only a bodysuit and a few armor pieces.

With a smile on her face she entered the previous room once more to show it to Cam.

“I like it, thank you so much.” She stretched her arms in as much of a three-sixty as she could and the bracers made themselves seen. “Cover that with a glove and my armor would hardly be noticeable.”

Except that it made her look a little bit wider than normal. But only a little.
