A Strange Meeting

Caius Flavian

Faction Admin - The Galactic Republic
Wonderful to hear!” I said plucking a dinner roll from the basket. I pulled it apart, its warm insides let loose a little steam. I applied butter to it in a few gentle strokes before placing it on a small dinner plate.

Yes, we are indeed an agricultural focused company. Our family, before a near successful purge by republic zealots, sought to form such an organization that would have spanned several hundred planets and provide a bounty of food for many planets. That dream was dashed in the Coreworlds. Still my grandmother Julia Flavian who is the Chairwoman of the company still held on to such achieving such a dream. We regained by force our prototype agricultural vessel which now serves as our headquarters. Julia came into contact with our Emperor Vedarric Pallopides and she initiated the first contract. Empires cannot sustain themselves without the means to feed their military and the people. In fact the best way to keep a populace in check is to control the food supply. Now we are integrated quite deeply with the Imperial Remnant. For now we have been operating out of the Seed of Renewal acting as consults for one of our client states. Along with the massive undertaking of terraforming Kalee. We are also in the process of designing several biodomes based on the technology used with the Seed of Renewal. Our primary goal with these ships is to provide a mobile fleet of farms. We will be able to transport large quantities on board these ships along with growing different types of food stuffs in transit. Our directive now, thanks to our near nationalization under the Imperial Crown, is to produce ample surplus in order to provide humanitarian relief for the flood of refugees we are beginning to experience entering our territories. The production of these vessels is paramount to our company’s success and will exponentially aide our Imperial Empire. We have made a contract with two other companies for the production of these ships but just as agriculture is necessary for an Empire, so is the coin of commerce to churn the wheels of fortune. If Krayt is willing to produce some of these along with those mining vessels for both the Empire and Flavian Star Corporation I’m certain I can draft the contract here and now. Approval for it will certainly follow almost immediately.”

I paused for a moment reflecting on the recent influx of people who had traveled out this way. Kalee and Valc VII were fairly inundated. Our hospital ships were operating at full capacity. The many more mouths to feed, the resources necessary to build and house these beleaguered displaced souls. I sighed outwardly and unintentionally. The galaxy could be a cruel place. It was up to those who were able to take a true stand and uphold the banner of order to make the galaxy safe and secure.

"I sense a Victory Without War initiative here," Taeli said, a small smile gracing her lips again. "If I remember correctly, the last time the Empire did such a program, you reclaimed over a quarter of the galaxy before war erupted with the Galactic Alliance and defeated them."

She could certainly appreciate the wily Imperials, they were doing everything right by her. A humanitarian outreach program to win the hearts and minds of the people of the Outer Rim, while also building up an impressive military machine to defend and expand. If she wasn't so invested in the One Sith, she could see herself joining the Empire at some point, but that was neither here nor there. She would simply admire from afar and enable the Empire, drawing ties between the two that could lead to an alliance eventually.

"I do believe we have a deal, Commodore Flavian," she said. "Krayt will produce the warships and shipyards you have requested, along with the mining and agricultural ships. On top of that, we will also develop new ships for the sole use of the Empire if you so deem it, including ships for other tasks that would help with your terraforming and humanitarian mission. Those ships would be branded with your family's company logo and the schematics provided to allow for the production of such outside of Krayt shipyards. If you wouldn't mind drafting the contracts, I believe we can seal a long and fruitful partnership."

"Yes you are quite correct it we must take small steps that lead to greater things"
I paused for a moment review in my head the terms we had discussed
"Wonderful I look forward with working with you in the future. I'll take a moment to draft these up. Just to be aware that although these carry my signature that is the first step. Once the Emperor and Empress approve of this I'll send word your way. However go ahead and begin drawing up oyur blueprints and gathering your staff. I'll be sure to expedite the process of this" I took a several moments of sipping on tea, eating a few pastries, all the while I was writing out the contracts on a fresh data pad that R5 brought out to me. After a little while I was finished. I stood to attention and held out the data pad for Taeli.

Taeli looked over each of the contracts, making sure to see all the terms they had discussed were there. She fully expected them to be since the commodore was a man of honor and of his word, and Taeli quite enjoyed that about him and his Empire. A lesson should be taken from here. Bringing up a digital pen, she signed each contract as the representative for Krayt Industries.

"Well Commodore Flavian, it was an immense pleasure doing business with you," she said, standing up to bow respectfully at the military man. "I hope these ventures are only just the beginning on a long and fruitful relationship. I will await your word on the status of the contracts with the Crown with excited anticipation."

With one more bow, Taeli turned and allowed herself to be escorted back to her shuttle. She needed to begin the organization of all this immediately.

I bade the Sith Knight farewell and spoke a few words of well wishes.
I sat in mild contentment with the results of this meeting.
What a lovely lady, and yet I can only imagine the cruel acts committed in pursuit of her religion…” I took a sip of my sip tea before pouring the remainder into my travel mug. I placed the data slates on the tray atop R5 and waved my hand for it to follow me.
I strode down the passage ways until I reached an observation deck. The door slid open and I made my way to the window. R5 trundled behind me blurting and chirping beeps and boops filling the empty deck.

My mind began to weigh the future ahead of us. The Imperial Remnant would continue to grow. As the Lady Arcanix had brought our methods very much mirrored Emperor Jagged Fel’s Victory without War initiative. Our own Emperor Vedarric Pallopides was a cunning man, his goals alluded most of the chiefs of staff. The slow revival of the title of Moff was readily apparent, each day that passed the Remnants of the old regimes continued to be broken down, refined, and forged a new. Slowly but surely we would become the Imperial Empire and lay true as claimant to the Galactic Empire.

I sipped upon my tea and watched as the fair Darth Arcanix’s vessel left.
A strange meeting, but a pleasant one” I spoke aloud to no one, R5 bleeped and blooped in response.
I smirked at the droid, "Now don't get any funny ideas you rolling bucket"
R5 replied with an expletive bleep.
I turned to leave as she jumped to hyperspeed, my gaze now looked to floor as I was lost in thought.
The door opened before I reached the sensors.
A dozen pairs of storm trooper boots flanked a very familiar set of exquisite leather boots.
My gaze slowly came to rise and was greeted by the sight of the Empress Kista Fel herself.

Majesty!” I exclaimed with surprise, I took a knee and bowed my head gently placing the tea mug onto the floor, “I’m at your command!” Her boots flickered for a moment to reveal that the Empress was using one of Regent Industry’s latest creations that now reside on nearly every Imperial Star Destroyer.
The PROXY models were once used long ago by Darth Vader as a means of communication with his various agents. They were useful in keeping tabs on these agents along with removal of such assets if needed. It was a unique form of communication utilizing a special holonetwork. Supposedly tamper proof, there were two models located in the throne room aboard each Star Destroyer. In the event that the Imperial Crown needed to directly converse with the ship’s captain.

The presence of the Storm Troopers represented the urgency and requirement of additional security. Plus it was a formality that since the 1st Imperial Storm Legion were not aboard this vessel the members of any other legion who are immediately available must present a body guard to the Imperial Crown, even if the crown were merely a hologram using a droid or in the communications chamber. A detail of storm troopers were to be present at all times.

Presently being used by Kista Fel, Empress of the Imperial Remnant

Provisional Governor Commodore Caius Flavian,” She spoke with a tone of formality and yet a hint of humor trailed at the end of her voice ”Rise, I've told you many times that you don’t need to do that with me” She waved a hand to the storm troopers, who took to their posts with standard procedure. The passage way outside with significant presence of troopers. The Sergeant of the squad and one other trooper remained in the room.

Caius did as he was ordered, or well asked of by the Empress. He rose to attention and then stood at ease.

She wore a bright white military uniform cloaked with a purple cape. She wore no ribbons, no decorations. Her hair was in a military regulation bun, she wore little make up. A single device was pinned on the upper right of her chest. It was a unique device designating her a member of the Imperial Order of Knights. Like her ancestors she was gifted with the force. The Archmaster of the order had made it a point to allow such a decoration to be worn for those Knights who have taken on a military position. The Empress however was quite above just a military position.
One noticeable difference however this time around was how far along her pregnancy.

I’ve received your report just a moment ago, I’m still at the hospital. This is the first time I’ve used the PROXY system, it is quite awkward” She spoke while walking to the observation window. She placed her hands on her hips. The cape furled about for a moment. “Quite an audacious proposal Commodore. I’m guessing this is part of my… husband’s plan?” Her tongue lingered with trepidation on the word husband. It was if the very word was difficult to annunciation.
She turned to face the naval officer.

After a flustering moment at her feet, I plucked my travel mug and I stood up.
Despite her instruction for me not to perform the formality of bowing, it was still something I did. Especially in front of the storm troopers.
Yes, your grace, in our last conference before the Emperor took his leave we had discussed making amiable non-aggression diplomacy with the One Sith and their… err Empire…” I spoke with mild disgust of granting that title to their religious, “I saw this opportunity as a means of initiating such diplomacy. A small step. It is a strange step because Krayt Industries although associated with the One Sith appears to be also co-owned by a leading member of the Silver Jedi Order.” I moved to stand beside the Empress and gazed out onto the galaxy at large. Every time I looked at this galaxy I could get lost in how beautiful it was and yet become disgruntled by the invisible lines that so divided it.

The Silver Jedi Order? This relationship we are starting into sounds just as political as my own marriage…” Kista spoke humorously. “[member="Darth Arcanix"]? Historian [member="Alexandra Lianne Feanor"]? An intriguing relationship indeed
She became lost in thought. She reached out and tapped the pane of reinforced glass testing to see if she could actually feel it, which she could not. Mincing her fingers together she came back to continuing her train of thought.
Regardless my approval in this matter is given. However this will be your last act as an Agent of the Crown. Vedarric will obviously approve of this. I’m due any day now. The twins have been fighting me for ages. It is strange to be walking… I’ve been sitting in this bed for the last few days waiting to pop, pardon my phrasing Commodore. Once my children are born I’ll be quite busy still but I’ll be focusing on our domestic issues. Both you and Parra are being groomed to take the title Moff of the respective sectors Carrion and Perinn. This will mean headquarters duty unfortunately, but you’ve proven apt at handly the affairs of civilian interactions so far I can’t really think of anyone else suited for the job. Our Supreme Commander is quite busy these days organizing the military. I’m looking forward to spending several weeks at the Temple of Solitude near the Imperial Center on Valc
She grinned over at the naval officer whom she often vented to simply because she could.
Now I’ll go and visit with Commodore Parra here in a moment. The Imperial Star Destroyer III will be nearing its completion here soon. Which quite obviously we will not be entrusting to Krayt for production of until I'm certain of their commitment to this operation. I would like you to return to the Luminita System and attend the Ceremony here in one weeks’ time. We will talk more then.”

Yes they will be there, this is a momentous occasion for both our governments and especially the Crinan people. Our hard work is paying off. I just hope that this new threat from wild regions does only strengthens the resolve to persevere.” She turned from the window and waved for the officer to follow her to the door. Once they reached it gave him a smile and presented her hand. “If you will Commodore, show me through the door I’ll see you in person soon

The Storm Troopers snapped from parade rest to attention as we passed through the door. "Fare well my Majesty, may the force be with you" As her image faded and flickered I could swear to the celestials I caught a smile.
Suddenly I was no longer holding Empress Fel’s hand but that of the droid PROXY-100.
The Storm trooper detail promptly took their leave.
I finished the remainder of my tea.
The caffeine bolstering my exhausted mind to new levels of activity.
So much to do and so little time.
"Come along R5, Its time to begin our next meeting, we've got much more work to do!"
