A Soldier's Day Off {Empire}

DROMUND KAAS: KAAS CITY
Sprawling cityscape, huge skyscrapers, and such lovely weather. That was what one was to expect when visiting the Empire's capitol. Some found the near constant rain dreary, or even troublesome. Others, like myself, found it pleasing. The way the water draped over the city, covering it in a blanket... it was soothing. Sometimes I just sat and watched the droplets hit the ground. Being in the army reduced my free time, but being fighting to keep my people safe and free was worth it. And if none fought, we wouldn't be able to enjoy moments like these.
Moments where the rain fell softly. Slowly drenching the planet to its core. Perhaps I'm just insane, to be able to enjoy something so simple... or maybe I'm just blessed.
Whichever it was, I'm glad it is so. Even if it makes me stand out and get soaked. There was always time to change before a meeting. Plus, the cold never bothered me anyway. Days like today, when I'm off duty are the best. Protecting others is good... but like I mentioned before it doesn't leave one much time. Today I could watch the water fall, drink some stimcaf, and enjoy the scenery. After all, there's so much beauty in the rain, even if not everyone can see it.

Dromund Kaas was, is, and will always be my home. I will defend it to my dying breath. Never shall any storm its surface and penetrate its heart. Any who attempt to will find a blade in their skull or blaster bolt in their brain. Every citizen is ready, always. Despite being on break even I carry a blaster rifle on my back and knives strapped 'round my legs. A soldier's day off is more like guard duty. One we take seriously.
Of course, even soldiers need to eat. Which was why I stood outside the cafe, awaiting the arrival of my order. Meanwhile my gaze was locked on the sky, witnessing the torrent of nature. Many around me carried umbrellas, walking in tight formations. Unlike them I was fully exposed, my arm stretched out to catch stray droplets. A smile was etched onto my face, mirroring that of those 'lucky' enough to be inside.
Oh, how I loved the rain...
