VAAL
Remote Savanna

Grimoire stepped out of the starfighter she had arrived in. Walking of the landing plank the vaalian winds blew hot air across the high savanna grass blasting her tangled mess of black hair in a fan. Grimoire replied back with a blank stare. Her presence was deflated and sombre. It had been so ever since she had been ousted from Krayiss II, her dark domain. Her spirit was broken. And her dark rage cooled, in part by her failures to live up to the grand dark mastery of her mother Darth Hauntruss. And in part because of the beloved care of her echani love, Siyndacha on Cularin.

Siyndacha had warned her to stay away from the old sith worlds, lest her dark melancholy returned. But, Vaal wasn't exactly Sith Worlds, but, close enough. But most importantly it was desolate and remote. No metropolises or dominions, isolation was welcome. As she progressed, without a true goal in mind for a destination, Grimoire winced at the beating sun. Her faint skin burned beneath it. The rest of her body lay under the shadow of her long black tunic that dangled past her knees in straps, and split cloak with slits running up the sides for her black long sleeved arms to stick out of.

The sun made it difficult to focus her mind on the dark, but that was welcome. She had become disillusioned by the will of the darkside. Of course the light did not garner much of her affection either. So what is this then? Grimoire interrogated herself.

In the distance she noticed a large tree with at trunk as thick as some buildings. Smiling she drifted into its shade and sat at the base of the tree cross-legged. I am lost. Grimoire's mind sighed.

I can't even sense the powers of my mother no more. The dark is faint, and the Sith...the Sith deliver no fulfilment....Mother?...Am I a failure?

Grimoire looked up at the sun shielding her eyes between her raised hand.

The light is a taste I cannot stomach either.

Removing her hand. Grimoire allowed the the heat of the sun to touch her face. The warm embrace quelled her and she began to close her eyes. Perhaps this wasn't such a bad place to be...for now. Alone.

Following the family reunion on Midvinter, there had been an urge for father and daughter to spend some quality time together for the first time in... well, let's just say many years. Ever since Nina began her Jedi training, really. They'd seen each other around the Silver Temple on Voss on multiple occasions, but spending time together like they used to, before they joined the Order? It was a time she sorely missed, and gods be good they would return to such times soon with Thurion having stepped back to live a family life on his homeworld.

So the two embarked on the Oathkeeper for some time amongst the stars, and while close to Resurgent Empire space Vaal was a world neither had ever set foot on. When she first met her future adoptive father, Nina joined him on his trek across the galaxy. He was but a young Jedi Knight about her age, and she was not even five years old. A simpler time.

While her father sat in the captain's chair, Nina stood behind him and played in his golden locks like she would when small enough to fit in his lap during their journeys together. He'd grown older - they both had - but he had changed little over the years, much to her delight. "Old girl's starting to act up again," Thurion remarked. Nina leaned down to press her lips to the top of his head. "Want help sorting it out?" He looked up at her with his trademark smile. "I'll be fine, sweetie. Between me and Teetoo, we have enough hands to get her patched up. You should go outside, get some fresh air now that we're here."

Nina nodded and they shared a hug before she ventured outside, stepping out onto the vast savannah. The wind caught in her white hair as she wandered away from the ship through the high grass, with nothing around them for what seemed like miles other than the occasional tree and rock. But she was not as alone as she'd thought at closer inspection. Another was close by.

At first she was about to return to the ship and inform her father of the dark presence, but her curiosity got the better of her. Hand resting upon her lightsaber hilt, she cautiously approached the presence. "Hello? Is somebody there?"

Another touch of the light bothered Grimoire. But, one not from the sun - the force called to her. The darkness within hissed and alerted her. Grimoire slowly opened her eyes. She could sense it, pure, delicate but, a blaze. A powerful beacon in the lightside was beside. Grimoire first drew her hand onto the hilt of her saber. But, she couldn’t sense the urge for action. The lightsider had not opted to deliver the first strike. Even so, Grimoire felt a shame rush over her like a cold sweat. Had she been so out of sort that she hadn’t noticed the lightsider’s approach.

Grimoire rested her hand away from the hilt. Her melancholy had even stunted her will to fight. She turned her head slowly, her golden eyes followed to stare out above the grass. There before her was the angelic figure of a young lady, pale with even paler hair lined in the light of the sun. Searching blue eyes was watching Grimoire. Grimoire’s eyes narrowed and unintentionally her face contorted into an intimidating venomous glare.

“Who are you child?” hissed Grimoire. She then turned her body completely and stood up. Her dark frame rose above the grass contrasting the young lightsiders silver and blue. Grimoire took another step forward her eyes still trained on the girl.
