LFG A Resistance Movement?

All it takes is a Spark

Hey! With the rise of two major sith factions, and a major uptick in rebel interest, I'm reworking some things to see if I can't get a resistance movement going.

Consider this a general interest check for folks who wanna see a faction built around rising up against the imps, the sith, and the general baddies of the galaxy.

A lot of this idea is still up in the air, and I'm looking for folks who wanna help shape this into something more concrete!

I see. Not to be that guy, but hearing that concerns me a bit?

You've moved from WSR, to that Rebel project, to now this. If traction sees your efforts change very quickly, what happens to this project if it doesn't catch fire as hoped?

I ask to save the time of the folks who might jump in, I'd hate for them to be left hanging! Appreciate you and best of luck on this.

I too, am busy but hyped for Rebel stuff.

However, I really don't see eye to eye with how it gets played out, which causes me not to join. Not being a charismatic cool kid prevents forming a group to lead said idea. Vicious cycle.

Hoping one of these iterations take and gain some traction!

Admittedly, I'm taking your advice. You were the one who told me that the WSR had felt like it ran it's course, so I'm trying something new.

The Rebel Alliance was never really my project, just something someone else came up with that I latched onto briefly, that seems to have fizzled out.

As for commitment, I'm fully commited to making something rebel/resistance related work, but I'm more than happy to keep trying with new faces. But I gave the WSR six months and some change, and no one bit at the bait I was throwing out there.

So I'm adjusting. And I'll keep adjusting.

And I'll keep telling the story I wanna tell on the side if nothing works out.

That said, while I appreciate the advice from folks, I'm hoping to get more than that from this thread, and I'd prefer if you guys aren't interested in investing characters or time into the project not to drown out any potential takers.

You’ve been trying to do rebel stuff for a long time and are clearly committed to the idea. I commend you for switching tactics and trying to find an angle people want. Don’t let anything stop you or make you feel bad about doing it.

I don’t really have any rebel faces active but if you want opposition I’m happy to throw some that way!

I know full well of how difficult it is toghet ideas off the ground. It's happened for me quite a bit. So I feel the despairity of the struggle.

That being said, I'm sure that I could figure out a way to get a couple of my characters involved. Granted, I don't have discord, so I wouldn't be a part of any faction staff. But I'd participate in the stories on the forum at the very least.

Haters will always be Haters! People seem to forget THEY have had failures in the past here or anywhere, so instead of supporting your idea regardless of past or failed or lack of commitment, they try to tear it down before it gets traction. Haters, the whole clique of the word.

Just Do You, and Hate the Haters that Hate on you, mate.

Good luck!!!

I don't understand who's hating lmao?

But I'm honestly excited to see more rebel stuff pop up which is different than what the THR is bringing forward.

I'm interested to see what you're putting forward and what ideas you have, could you expand on them? The one thing I do think is a good plan is focusing on the Sith since like you said in the beginning of your OP about there being two Sith factions. The Imps have taken a beating as of recent, let the Imps rest (go get em Ronhar Tane Ronhar Tane )

I think seeing a little framework or even spitballing ideas would ease any concerns -- we all wanna see ideas to fruition.

Right now, the framework is loose because I’m still trying to see what the vibe is outside of “let’s write some rebels”

But, the general idea is thus: The galaxy, especially the outer rim, is in a state of unrest. Imperial Warlords are in a struggle for power, the Sith rule the core and large stretches of the outer rim, and the High Republic have done little to stop them, while the ME have an open alliance with them. Anyone unwilling to swear allegiance or subjugation has been left in the dust.

And the only ones who seem to care are the rebels. The ones who have been in the background. The Resistance is those planets, those people, rising up and banding together. Rather than a Rebel Alliance style band of disparate cells, this is an organized revolutionary movement against the dark side influence.

I think you have a great start except this part. The outer rim has nothing tying to the current state of the map. What unrest is there? What conflicts are happening in the outer rim?

I think if you focused somewhere that there is actual chaos canon conflict, such as the core, places where the Sith are heavily involved, the mandos who have supported the Sith reside. I think there can get some traction and allows writers to have those hooks to tie in their characters.

But the other rim in unrest? What examples do you have that is happening in the current factions storylines or is this something that you have personally been writing? If you have, could you share examples from those stories you've written?

We’ve got three different imperial remnants fighting over old TIC territory atm. One invading Lothal, Pirate raids on former TIC fortress worlds, and Hapes returning to a pirate superstate.

The idea is that the people are hitting their breaking point, and refugees fleeing the core aren’t making it any better.

The resistance is born out of that unrest.

These are imperial remnants that are pretty small in comparison to the two Sith factions that are terrorizing the galaxy with the THR really being the only defense line along with Iron Cov who are fighting the TSC.

I'm having a disconnect because you're focusing on the Imperials, when what caught my attention was the opening line of the OP

Hey! With the rise of two major sith factions, and a major uptick in rebel interest, I'm reworking some things to see if I can't get a resistance movement going.

You have nothing that brings forward the idea of going after the Sith. I think be forward with "We are focused on the Imperial Remnant threat" with help people align their thoughts. If going after Imperials is the focus, then lean into it. But if its not going after Sith then my interest wanes.

Thank you for explaining your thought process and ideas. I appreciate it and it brings a bit more light into the idea of the Rebellion!
