"How the feth did we wind up here?!"

The girl's low, plaintive whine belied the fact that she already knew the answer. It had been hard to forget the intensity of their pursuit, or how much of a relief it had been to find this hiding place. Tucked between the ventilator fans and the building's heat exchanger, there was barely a meter of room between the two of them. That wouldn't have mattered so much if not for the ever-present threat lurking just around the corner.

Around the corner and down the hall, to be fair. Yet none of this was very fair. Not the being stuck in a tiny space with Anakin's gigantic wingspan. Not the harrowing chase that had gotten them there with mere moments to spare from the glorified gangster sentries spotting them. Not the getting recognized by gangsters the girl thought she'd left behind with Phelaan's death. And definitely not the having her lunch interrupted by the whole affair, either.

Daiya shot an expectant glance over to Anakin. As if he was supposed to have all the answers. The dim lighting from industrial systems was filtered through the ventilation fan, making shadows rotate around the room. In another scenario, adding a few more beings and some music with a strong beat would turn this place into a tiny mosh pit. Instead, it just added to the gloomy cloud hanging over her. She turned away.

"All we gotta do is wait them out, right?" Daiya tone was asking, but her words were more rhetorical. Even over the noise of the industrial equipment, enough to keep the room buzzing with a moderate hum, the young shadowrunner felt the need to fill the silence between them. "There's gotta be a shift change at some point. Maybe they'll get bored." A dull throb in her stomach added another suggestion. "Or hungry."

The girl explored the contours of her heavy blaster, though one hand stayed low on the grip. Even sitting, her shoulders stayed as tense as her hand, her eyes moving about, her mind never stopping. At the ready, waiting for danger to strike. Waiting for the inevitable question from the avian man across from her. Daiya knew it was coming, though she dreaded having to answer to those fateful words.

Who is Phelaan?

Fear gripped her as much as dread, and they fought between themselves for dominance. The teen would much rather face a dozen more goons before having to answer for why they were chasing her. It was bound to come out sometime, Daiya could only put it off for so long.

"Have you ever gotten stuck like this before?"
