A Fortress for the Union (Techno Union)

Mos Espa

As the Finch touched down at the Mos Espa spaceport and attendants gathered about to prepare for heiress's disembark, a cheerful Lily Kuhn playfully tapped and toyed with her datapad. Koros had been in a bit of a slowdown in business over the last few months, ever since life had gone from wacky to happy. But today - or really for a while now - Lily was putting all of that behind her. It was like her holonote had said, 'Today is the first day of the rest of my life!'. That wasn't to say that the plateauing profits that Koros had been experiencing would be overlooked, if anything it was her focus on business that was taking the wheel now.

A quiet alert was plastered over the time on the datapad, signifying that she'd arrived at the spaceport on Tatooine, and a momentary shake and subsequent stabilization of the cabin affirmed it. In a way, she was home. A home away from home, anyways. A friend, her step-mother actually, had made it big here, and now she was back on the arid world for a bit of business of her own. Business with the reigning government, that is - the Techno Union. Her secretary, Leena Haven, had made her aware of a request for the purchase of all the Fortress-class Cruisers that Koros Spaceworks had produced and planned to produce - the rights to the production line, really.

It was going to be an easy deal, the plan was to come in with a figure for the Union to pay, and Koros would immediately sign over the ships upon approval. She doubted there'd be any real hassle, unless they wanted more made - that might be out of the scope of their finances at the moment, at least for now. A bid for a contract, however, might change that in the long run.

Werah landed his ship at the Mos Espa spaceport, on tattooine. He had been well informed of the transaction he was here to negotiate, and he supposed his success in the matter on Shiffrin had secured him this job. Ah well, he thought, it's always good to visit tattooine. It was rather...vibrant. He walked over to where the other ship had landed, escorted by 3 A-97 droids. It was an impressive ship, though small compared to the cruisers that he was going to be buying. He saw the woman who he was supposed to meet, Lily...Kun? He was still trying to remember her last name, when she spotted him walking towards her. He came closer, and said, "Hello, I'm Werah, Techno Union representative. I'm here to negotiate a contract with you..."

Whereas the Techno Union official, Werah, had taken droids along as what she could only assume were bodyguards, Lily opted to take just one single person along with her. One Bant Harley, a man somewhere in his forties - somewhere around her father's age, she always assumed. Apparently he - Harley - had been a dog for the Krath since before her mother's takeover some two decades or so ago, and ever since the family infiltration of the Krath and Empress Teta he'd been just as loyal as one. She always assumed that Leena and Bant had something going on behind the scenes, maybe a private romance or just childhood-friend drama, so she always made a note to bring one or the other along with her to enjoy their bickering over the comm channels. Of which they were doing as she disembarked from the ship to meet with the Union Representative.

"I'll be just inside the Finch if you need any help, Miss Kuhn." Bant assured her, his voice reaching her through the miniature earpiece that was fitted in her left ear. It wasn't anything noticeable, just something more discreet and less obvious than other unfashionable products that most other communication manufacturers opted to sell. "Oh, sure. Just inside. Almost like you don't want to help Lily seal the deal as visible muscle." Leena's voice filtered in, her blunt attitude shining through like the sounding off of a cannon. She chuckled inwardly and smiled as the Kel-dor introduced himself, extending her own left hand while the voices of her two lackeys mutely argued over her communication piece. Not that it was a problem, of course, though Leena tended to get quite obnoxiously loud when she got more upset. Nothing the mute feature couldn't fix at any rate.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mister Werah. My name is Lily Kuhn, daughter of Alric Kuhn and step-daughter of Danger Arcenaeu. I am the majority shareholder and Corporate Executive Officer of Koros Spaceworks." She responded warmly, forcing herself to not make mention of her deceased mother, who probably wouldn't have assisted in the deal if she had mentioned her - most people tended to not react well to name-dropping Sith Lords and former high-ranking members of the One Sith. While she was, technically, a citizen of the One Sith's new and improved Empire, she was most certainly not a government official to them - unless her status as the heir of Teta meant she was. Political formalities were, as of now, lost on her. What was important was not giving out any information that was superfluous and potentially detrimental, and her step-mother was far more well-known than her mother ever could have hoped to be anyways.

"It is to my understanding that the Techno Union would like to acquire Koros Spacework's three Fortress-Class cruisers, and potentially have more made on a limited basis exclusively for the Union?" Lily said, her tone sounding a bit more like a question than a statement, the wording used just in case one or more of the details she'd been informed of had been incorrect. Realistically the ship had cost exponentially more than the company had hoped - the cortosis hull needed treating every time it entered or exited a planet's atmosphere, thus why they were generally kept docked up by or at a station rather than costing what was essentially tens of thousands of credits in cortosis for treatment every trip in and out of the Koros system. The cost had cut the production short, which had barred more than the initial three being made. If the Techno Union wanted their hands on more, though, she could have mining and such set up to supply a small-scale production line just for them.

"You are correct", replied Werah, responding to Lily's question. He wondered why they were buying these ships, after all, the TU navy was already well-armed. Still, it was not his place to question Foreman Vereen. "May I inspect the contract?", Werah inquired, hoping to finish this quickly, and get back to Roon before Alky went off on her mission. Thinking back to the pictures he had seen of the cruisers, they certainly did look impressive, and he hoped that he might even get to fly one, some day. Sadly, Werah was a pretty bad pilot, so he doubted his chances. Still, he could always hope...

Setting the earpiece to mute, via a small button on a band around her wrist, Lily gave the Kel-dor her full attention. A nod in response to his answer and question was given, reaching into a small purse that hung from her shoulder to pull out two copies of the contract proposal, though there was obviously room for more changes if neither of the bids were up to the Union's standards. "Right now I've made two options here for the Techno Union in regards to a contract for the purchase of the three ships - the first being just the purchase of the only three ships made, the second and latter of the two being the purchasing of the entire production line for any ships that might be produced in the future along with continued production solely for the Union. That means we'll access cortosis mines in order to get the materials needed for an increase in production, so long as the Union agrees with the somewhat larger bill involved." She explained, holding out the two sheets for the man to inspect.

It was really a pretty simple deal, probably as simple as the Techno Union representative might have hoped and expected, but there was still room for the two parties to get more of what they wanted - Lily could get more credits for Koros, and Mister Unon could get more incredibly armored ships for his government's navy. The bill for the increased production, a limited production line made solely for the Techno Union, would cost a pretty penny more than the seven figure number being asked for regarding the three cortosis-coated ships already being asked for, but she thought of it as a long-term investment. The ships themselves were fairly impressive in their own right, even ignoring the layer of cortosis, so factoring in the rare and exotic metal that cost an exorbitant amount of credits to mine in the first place, it was a fairly good deal. She had no doubt in her mind that Kuat Drives would probably charge a metaphorical arm and leg for a similar line of ships, so Lily kept it to a more reasonable, but still premier, cost.
