"I know it's hard, but you can do it," She assured Raphael without even looking in his direction. Both her gaze and her Force senses were intensely focused on the Vampire, who despite not having made any move to strike, felt dangerous in the Force. Even before an attempt was made, intent could spark warnings that Valery could act on, and she knew where this conversation was going. This was only further reinforced when the woman began to speak again.

Not my fault it has had a reaction, how would you fix what has been done? Tsk, aww wait you can't! Such a shame, really.

"We'll see about that," Valery said before the Vampire continued her little game. This time, however, danger spiked even more and Valery tensed up and readied her blade in time for the first shot that was fired toward her. The bolt struck her violet blade and unlike normal blaster bolts, it wasn't deflected but exploded and sent Valery recoiling back a step as a tremor from the shock passed through her whole body. This wasn't the first time she had fought against these weapons, though — every bounty hunter liked these kinds of gadgets, and she had even encountered Imperial soldiers using them.

So rather than deflecting them, she held out her hand and projected a Barrier of Force energy around her like a shield. Each shot that impacted exploded against the energy bubble but the relatively low-yield explosions could not break through. With her other hand, she temporarily disengaged her lightsaber and reached out to some of the ruins around her. In an instant, she hurled a whole bunch of debris toward the Vampire, ranging from dust and small pebbles to some larger rocks.

But it wasn't just an attempt to take her down — it was also about interrupting the stream of powerful shots. If successful, Valery launched herself up into the air with inhumane speed, ignited her blade, and sought to follow up with a powerful swing aimed across the Vampire's body.

Her words, however, went unheeded. Yes… He could be a hero… With the power she'd granted him, he would be able to… To… He could do anything. She'd given him power. It was an unfortunate side effect of what had happened. While his body was, indeed, adapting to the anima, eliminating it as a threat to his body, this also amplified the effects somewhat temporarily. His hand went down slowly, while his spirit screamed resistance. It gripped the lightsaber on his belt as debris flew and shots popped harmlessly against a barrier. Then the silver blade ignited, the first time and his spirit roared. The resistance was suppressed. The most important part of Raphael, realized that he was no longer in control.

He found his feet moving before he could think and they moved FAST, clearing some distance to stand back upon the pillars that they'd been on. Then, with a single heave, the silver colored saber flew, spinning like a helicopter blade to try and collide with Valery's own, trying to protect her from the swing of the Sword of the Jedi. He could feel a smile spreading across his face, unbeckoned. Yet tears fell from his eyes. He didn't know what he was doing, or why he was doing it.

His hand found his blaster pistol, preparing to draw it when something else stopped him. A presence and memory. Nostalgia from a long dead planet and a willpower that reignited the flame.

Stop… The word was a whisper, audible to none but Raphael. You're not choosing this… You're being controlled. Stop. Stand back. Do not. Once more he was frozen, but not by his own hand, so much as it was the thing talking to him. What are you doing? Are you a slave? You have saved many from such a fate. Why, then, do you become a slave now? Why do you allow it? The Jedi Master fights. She defends you. Stop. Do not take me up to strike at those that would save you.

"I—I—I'm… s-sorry… J-Jedi… S…"

As the rocks smashed into her, Jackal was sure this had to be the end as the light of the saber went after her center mass instead of say a limb... Yet, her previous actions had saved her, Raphael had thrown his saber in the way of the strike. And so with only heavy bruising and a shallow cut from the blade of the Jedi, Jackal falls onto her rear, the skin of her lower back scratching against the stones.

The hunter who once had nothing but cocky stride now sat there in confusion, along with processing that her life could have ended right then and there.

"An odd place to strike... It would have most likely cleaved me in two, I thought you Jedi went after limbs?"

Now having at least some distance, her own shield would be turned on, and a health monitor upon her wrist would beep at the woman to inform her of the damages.

"Ya ya shut up machine.."

She says to herself while checking it over... Damage in the chest? She would have never guessed otherwise!

And so she stands yet again, her self regeneration having no issues with the small cuts thanks to the scratching of stones, yet that saber cut? Ya that was going to take some time for sure, but now she had to ask herself if this was worth it, now seeing that the Jedi was going for killing blows.

But then again the capture could change her life for the better, perhaps even bring in enough money to get off Nal Hutta... Nothing but bad memories there anyway.

Perhaps it was time to focus then, she did have some help after all.

"I'm sure I can find something, only a matter of time."

Jackal whispers to herself, now unsheathing her vibrosword and turning it on and holding it in one hand as the other aimed her pistol once again, sending four more high powered shots at them. She had the ammo to slam into their self made shield to either break it or wear them down, yet the intent was to make them close the gap again.
