OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION:

GENERAL INFORMATION:
  • Unit Name: 514th Division “Charles”
  • Affiliation: Captain Charles, First Scouting Squadron
  • Classification: Elite Infantry
  • Description: The 514th Division is a named unit, recognized for its extensive combat experience and very high level of training. It originated from the original company of Imperial Marines aboard Captain Charles’s original ship, the MIN Stryker. As First Scouting Squadron was built and expanded, these Marines undertook an extensive retraining program to meet Death Trooper standards. They went on to train all the future First Scouting Squadron’s Death Troopers with a unique blend of Marine and Death Trooper training under the oversight of Captain Charles and their commander Major Voss. The 514th Division serves a variety of roles such as ship security/defense, boarding actions, rapid response, ground operations and special operations.

COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Large
  • Unit Availability: Unique
  • Unit Experience: Elite
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function: The 514th excels in close quarters and shipboard combat (their primary operational environment). They deploy in small aggressive fire teams for boarding actions, corridor fighting and rapid room clearing. Breaching charges and sonic imploders are their standard shipboard tools. Prisoners are taken only upon request. For ground operations the E-Webs provide fire support while carbine teams maneuver. The PLX-2M handles armor and fortified positions. Special operations are conducted in small independent units with terrain specific camouflage applied when required. The Division is not optimized for large scale sustained ground warfare. Their strength is speed, precision and adaptability.
  • Force Abilities: N/A

STRENGTHS:
  • Elite Training — The 514th meets full Death Trooper standards while retaining the practical shipboard experience of their Marine origins. This unique blend produces soldiers capable of operating effectively across a wider range of scenarios than either a standard Marine or Death Trooper unit alone.
  • Extensive Experience — The Division has seen combat across multiple operational environments against a variety of opponents. They do not encounter situations they have not seen before.
  • High Unit Cohesion — Many of Division’s commanders/veterans have served with Charles and Voss since the original Stryker. The rest have been trained by them in the same class. They know and trust each other completely which only enhances their combat effectiveness.
  • Flexible Loadouts — The 514th can configure for close quarters shipboard operations or scale up to ground engagements with E-Web fire support and PLX-2M anti-armor capability. Removable armor paint extends their operational flexibility further.

WEAKNESSES:
  • “Prefers Close Quarters” — The 514th is optimized for shipboard and close quarters combat. Though all are excellent marksmen, their tactics often revolve around the short, quick and brutal.
  • Unique Unit — Losses are difficult to replace. The specific training pipeline that produced the 514th takes time. A depleted division cannot be quickly rebuilt to the same standard.
  • Tied to First Scouting Squadron — The Division depends on First Scouting Squadron for fire support, insertion, extraction and logistical support. They cannot operate without the squadron for long periods of time.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION:
The 514th Division started off as a company of Imperial Marines aboard Charles’s original Command the MIN Stryker. They wore a custom set of armor (Charles's Imperial Marines Armor) as they had issues with the aging surplus stormtrooper armor they were issued during the final days of the NIO. They wore this armor for most of their careers. Undertaking a variety of missions the most important one being Charles’s Exploration Mission to Castillon.

When Charles was given the authority to build a personal squadron following his success during Mahporeem’s Doan campaign the Imperial Marines under Voss decided it was time to retrain to better support the squadron. It took them four months to complete the training. The instructors said that they had never seen a class graduate with no casualties in such a short period of time. After a quick respite they went on to pick out and train the new recruits that would form the rest of the Division. Using a unique blend of Marine and Death trooper training the class that graduated was truly unique, not quite Marine and not quite Death Trooper. It was a class that took the best qualities of both and fused them together.

Due to this unique combination of elite training and the distinguished status of their veterans (now commanders) the 514th division was designated a named unit and given the option to pick their name. Everyone voted for “Charles”, after their commander. They consider themselves not loyal to Mahporeem in general but rather loyal to him (Captain Charles) and First Scouting Squadron. Their motto is “Kill”, and its a part of their standard vocabulary.

The 514th Division is present with First Scouting Squadron at all times. They have participated in campaigns such as Operation Ashfall and the Ruisto Expedition. The most important campaign to date was the Battle of Marvex where they boarded and captured a battlecruiser, in the assault on Velar where they stormed Grand Admiral Ostell’s palace and took him and his mistress prisoner. They will continue to serve with Charles and the Squadron indefinitely.
