It was late, or early, Judah could not tell which. Sometimes days were blurred and night came without much sleep. There had been so much on his mind, and even more with Justice among the Jedi now. His nephew was young, and already had suffered much. He seemed to have found his path, but that path had led to a lot of danger.

He took to his musings. The shadow let his mind and thoughts run wild. Even the katas his master had taught him could not help him focus. With a frustrated sigh, Judah crashed into the chair that was situated at his desk. Maybe he could just get his thoughts down in a letter.

But who would he write it to…

Valery,

I have no idea why I am even writing this… maybe it is because whether or not you can respond I know you’re going to read it. Tython is going to be a mess, no matter how you slice it. Whether we stand firm and keep the Maw at bay or not, a lot of lives are going to be lost. Knowing that Justice is going to be there, it’s really messing with my head. For all I know JJ is going to be there too, he hasn’t responded to my messages.

They really don’t get it do they… the light is simply a construct to hold us prisoner, slaves. Like they can justify mass genocide by claiming to be better than us. It is all propaganda, and yet… is that all we are offering in return? More propaganda? I hope not.

Look… I know you will be there. This kind of fight has your name written all over it. Just… just promise me you will keep yourself safe, hmm? I have lost a lot of people I have cared about over the years, people I have loved. I would hate to find you counted among them. It probably isn’t kosher for me to say it that way, but well… I think you know me well enough by now to know I mean it, and that your friendship has seen me through some of my own battles.

Don’t die…

— Judah

P.S. I feel like I need to make some flippant remark about your behind now… just so the letter isn’t so serious.

He didn’t even think about it, Judah just signed it and sent it. The datapad was set down with a soft tap against the desk as Judah let go. The older Jedi picked himself up from the chair and carried himself off to bed. It was time to try sleeping once more. If only he could get a couple hours of sleep…

…if only.
