Standing over a small model X-Wing, Allyson held the letter, one that had been written quickly by a comrade. Someone that she had lost contact with. But they reached out to notify the woman that while they didn't know each other well — they had flown together under the banner of the Alliance.

Allyson had been young. Too young for that kind of war, but while the memories were scarce, they were still there. She read the letter again, glossing over the names of other pilots who had lost their lives either from old age or had been lost in combat. Each name, a small memory lingered at the edge of her consciousness.

Exhaling softly, the tears fell from her one eye. She didn't cry often; there was rarely anything that could cut as deep as losing a comrade or anything about her wife.

She didn't know the details, nor did the letter say them, but she could feel it. Allyson leaned back in her chair, a hand covering her face slightly. The quiet of Odessen helped, allowing the old rogue pilot to remember the good times. Battles, training flights, and drinking till their livers ached.

Days gone by, days that things felt simpler for the Corellian.

Remembering always dug up not only the good memories, but also the bad, the hard. Flying in formation, leaving a space open for one of the lost in combat. Fetching what you could of their bird, sitting at their funeral as they rattled off accolades. Nothing made it easier, nothing made it okay.

Allyson shifted in her seat, her eyes trailing back towards the letter, reading the name again. The woman had joined around the time Allyson was pulled from the Rogue Squadron. Still, they had flown together, fought together, and she wished she could have had just one more laugh, one more drink, just one more anything.

Life was short.

She reached over, poured two glasses of Corellian whiskey.

The galaxy had lost a good one; Corellia and the Force had called their daughter home.

"Rest easy, Alleycat Alleycat ." Allyson raised her glass and tilted it towards the photograph of the squadron, with the glass in front of it.

"Doaba ol'val tru."
