Obviously, he's blind. Duh. He's a Miraluka. But, like all Miraluka, Derp can "see" through the Force. Let me explain: Derp is able to pick up on the presence of things via a sort of hyper-awareness through the Force. However, he has a unique twist on it: everything's presence in the Force has a specific color attached to it. So empty "air" would be a light grey color, with droids and inanimate objects (tables, chairs, buildings, etc) having a darker shade to them. Dead bodies would also be grey, but, depending on how long they've been dead, there may or may not be wisps of the person's leftover Force presence clinging to it. Nonsentient plants (i.e. plants that are NORMAL) typically have a sort of vibrant forest green clinging to their shape (plant-based sentients would have the same shade, but with a slight difference, explained later).
