In the early hours of Primeday, the Imperial Ambassador to the Tion Republic has been found brutally murdered. A new, radically anti-Imperial organization, so far unnamed, has claimed responsibility for the egregious act. As tensions between the systems of the Tion Cluster and the Empire continue to rise, the government of the Tion Republic was quick to deny any blame, condemning the act, while also revealing details of an assassination attempt of Tionese Chancellor Irelyn Ducote by the Imperial Security Bureau.
The Chancellor has been a staunch opponent of Imperial influence in the area throughout her life and finds much support in the Core to the great detriment of the Empire. In an emergency press conference, she revealed Tionese intelligence reports claiming the existence of a failed assassination operation for her life plotted by the ISB
The Empire was quick to deny such, quoting, 'baseless claims' and stating these are merely allegations by Ducote to reap political dividends within her state. The Empire further added it seeks solely security guarantees on its borders, raising concerns about the Tion Republic's closeness with the Alliance and seeing such relations as a risk to Imperial state security.
Moreover, the Empire has vowed to take reciprocal actions against the assassination of the Imperial ambassador. And while Bastion reiterates it seeks only peace in the region, reports are surging of the Imperial Fleet amassing on the border between the Empire and the Tion Cluster.
