STRENGTHS
  • Rad-Infused Shots: The ZKZ, much like the more common Helix weapons it is based on, fires powerful radiotoxic blaster bolts with horrendous terminal effect on flesh.
  • Stealthy: Small and light enough to fit in the palm of a hand, it is also ideal for attachment to a gauntlet firing system or concealment in clothing. Additionally, the weapon comes with a small sensor jammer capable of providing protection from scanners for a few minutes.
  • Versatile: The ZKZ is fitted with a tiny but powerful capacitor overcharger, allowing it to fire an explosive blob of molten X16 on demand. This bolt strikes with much more force than normal, and with a small blast radius capable of damaging packed infantry or light vehicles.
WEAKNESSES
  • Poor Capacity: Owing to the need to test the limits of how tiny a blaster can be, the ZKZ possesses enough capacity for only a half-dozen shots or so. Overcharge Mode, when used, consumes fully half the weapon's ammunition, and as such may only be used twice before reloading.
  • Poor Rate of Fire: The weapon focuses on making the few shots it does have count, and as such possesses no fully-automatic capability.
  • Volatile: Using the Overcharge function too quickly twice in a row can damage or destroy the weapon, possibly burning the user.
DESCRIPTION

Helix Solutions is not typically in the business of commissioning or selling weapons, as a rule. The various bizarre and exotic murder machines belched from its massive ship-factories are for the use of its own troops alone. Nonetheless, a select few wealthy clients with close connections to the company have managed to secure personalized weapon commissions, as is the case with the ZKZ.

Small enough to be comfortably palmed, or concealed in a boot or wrist gauntlet, the ZKZ is as light as it is miniscule, and as deadly as it is light. Created on request of the young Sith Zachariah Conway, it is built to his specifications and ergonomically customized for his use, and is the only one of its kind in existence.

Able to be used in the hand or in a wrist-blaster configuration, the so-called "Nightfall" is a unique tool of murder. Functioning somewhat similarly to the more common E-5H or E-4H, it has a few unusual features to set it apart when compared to the standard weapons.

Aside from the marvel of miniaturization achieved by packing the mechanism into so tiny a weapon, the blaster also possesses a tiny scanner baffler, one with only enough range to extend its protection a few inches or so. This, fortunately, is enough to defeat most standard weapon sensors. Its appearance can defeat organic eyes just as well, resembling nothing so much as an innocent silver cufflink of some kind when folded into wrist-blaster configuration. Despite its delicate appearance, it is surprisingly durable, constructed of tough, damage-resistant metals.

When in use, it possesses startling power for its size, capable of punching a fist-sized, glowing hole in a humanoid torso at very close ranges. More unpleasantly for its targets, it also possesses a secondary overcharged firing mode, unleashing a larger, deadlier bolt that detonates on impact. The resultant chemical explosion is quite small, having a damaging radius of only a few meters, but can nonetheless devastate densely-packed infantry in close quarters, and even damage light vehicles. In either case, targets within the radius are subjected to blast-furnace temperatures as well as high levels of radiation.

Unfortunately, due to its size, the weapon has some limitations. Possessing enough power for only a handful of shots in standard firing mode, it is best used on surprised enemies at very short range. The overcharged mode is even more hamstrung, as using it twice will completely empty the weapon's ammunition reservoir.

What's more, the weapon fires very slowly, requiring a brief charging period between shots, and is thus unsuited for engaging large numbers of enemies.

Lastly, being a weapon containing volatile X16, the user would do well to avoid attempting overcharged shots too quickly after the other, or allowing the weapon to become damaged. In either case, the contained incendiary chemicals can breach, inflicting serious thermal and chemical burns on the user.
