OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a combat school that serves as a basis for 'Gun Kata' combat styles for folks to make use of.
  • Image Credit: [ Provide credit to the original artist of the images in your submission. Link to the web page where it can be found and state the name of the original artist if possible. Each image used must be credited. Use TinyEye, Google Image Search, or the Image Credit FAQ to help.]
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: [ Provide links to any relevant threads, characters, companies, locations, etc here. Canon or otherwise. Especially obscure references, or events important to the submission.]
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Organization Name: Ziltus Jor School of Close Quarters Combat
  • Classification: Combat Style School
  • Affiliation: N/A
  • Organization Symbol: [ If your organization has a sigil or logo, provide a picture or briefly describe what it looks like. ]
  • Description: Ziltus Jor, or "Sharp Wind", is a combat style designed to give an individual a power method to defend themselves against multiple attackers if needed, or one skilled in the force such as a Jedi.
    • The style emphasizes clean shifts from one point to the next, engaging targets in a fluid fashion. With two highly specialized pistols in each hand, a Ziltus Jor user rarely is unable to defend themselves, should the target be up close, or within pistol ranges. The style does fall apart at longer ranges, owing it is done with blaster pistols or projectile pistols.
    • Often it can seem that the Ziltus Jor user is pre-cognizant, often shifting themselves out of an enemy's short if they are within pistol ranges. This is due to the intense mental training required. It drills into the user a massive library of common combat styles or traits used in various styles across the galaxy, that give the practitioner an ability to read the body language and movements of the enemy to know where they intend to strike, and how to avoid it. The skill relies on sight, hearing and sense touch, all three helping the user to feel, hear, and see the actions of those attacking them. This however, does not make them god-like, as some aspects of more advanced schools of combat may have movements similar to more common actions, but with entirely different intents and actual movements.
    • Combined with the dancing-like motions, it can appear the user never stops moving or predicting, transitioning from one target and stance to the next with almost no apparent effort, dancing around their foes.
    • There is however, a style designed to counter Ziltus Jor, known as Yandel Jor, or "Broken Wind". This style was built to counter a Ziltus Jor user should one become a danger to the populace at large. Few Ziltus users know the counter style, but every Yandel Jor user must know Ziltus Jor, as without knowing what you need to counter, you leave yourself vulnerable to that style.
GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: The Ziltus Jor School of Close Quarters Combat which is located in the Outer Rim
  • Domain: Keeping to itself, the remaining Ziltus Jor School exists within it's community as a place to, on occasion, get help with problems that need more permanent solutions that can serve as training exercises for students.
  • Notable Assets: N/A
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Hierarchy: Grand Master of Jor (Master of both Ziltus and Yandel Jor) -> Master of Ziltus Jor/Master of Yandel Jor -> Practitioner -> Student
  • Membership: The exact number of Practitioners is unknown. There is no current Grand Master of Jor. There is 4 Masters of Ziltus Jor, and 1 Master of Yandel Jor. To become a Practitioner, one must go to a Ziltus Jor School, and from there learn the style under a Master. This training can range from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the amount of training needed, as anyone can enter the school.
  • Climate: The School has a feeling of this being primarily 'just business', the idea being that you are learning this style to protect yourself from enemies that might otherwise be too difficult to face, or against groups that would otherwise overpower you, and so while some members might grow close, as a whole, you are here to learn a skillset and nothing more.
  • Reputation: Neutral - This is mainly due to the School remaining a discreet affair, with most of those learning it's trade being those of the underbelly of society.
  • Curios: Practitioner's all carry their ZJ-15 pistols, the sign of one having graduated the school.
  • Rules: There is no specific rule held by the School that members must follow. This is because the school is mode available to those who often would have little reason to want to follow a rule forced upon them by a school of combat training.
  • Goals: To provide those who need them, the skills to fight and outdo foes that either are skilled in the force in close quarters combat, or those who expect to find themselves fighting multiple foes at a time in short order. No more, no less.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Created some four thousand years BBY by a team comprised of Twi'lek, Givin, and Echani, as a means to give those able to be trained in it a means to combat the Jedi should they come after a practitioner. With the Jedi being militarized peacekeepers that they were in those days, the style would be an underground one, trained by one master of the style to a select number of students, who would, as masters themselves, do the same as their master did, so as to avoid becoming a well known facet to the Jedi and thus be buried to be forgotten. In fact, the style wouldn't become a recognized one until the Mandolorian Wars, with some practitioners on both sides of the conflict. It was around this time the counter to it was made by those on the Republic side of the conflict, mostly due to the larger number of users siding with the Mandolorians than on the Republic, in addition to its needing to change to account for needing to deal with foes of many styles, creating the foundations of the style as it is known today.

With becoming better known, some of the veterans of the Wars, those who returned and didn't side with Revan or the Republic during the suddenly emerging Jedi Civil War. While some users did, most sought to return to their work from before the war, those still able to find it. Because of this spreading of the style far and wide beyond the Outer Rim, it would endure for centuries, millenia even. Its spread was such that it would even reach a small sect of a Chiss noble house eventually, though it remained a less well known style, again, so as to avoid backlash from the Jedi.

This desire to remain discrete meant that the school more often was taught to those of the less public, and less above board job sectors, resulting in the style being most well known as something used by assassins, specialized mercenaries of various stripes, and the odd Outer Rim agent for one or another political entity in the region.

Despite there being, at one point in time, several schools to the styles, each with their own takes on it, only one official school has survived to the modern day. Those that have faded into the footnotes of history either dried up in students or funding, or were outright destroyed by forces that felt threatened by the schools existence. The remaining school continues to teach both methods, the counter however, is held as an advanced course, only intended for those who have shown exceptional promise in the style.

What is the status of this submission? As per the rules of the pre-codex, which can be found here, submissions may only remain in the pre-codex for one month before being archived. Unfortunately, your submission has been in the pre-codex for longer than a month, if you could please update us on if you still intend to complete it, or if you would rather the submission be moved to the archives till you're ready to work on it.

Still attempting to get a symbol/emblem for this made. Needed for completion of the ZJ-15 pistols also awaiting review. Will also need to create a company to produce said pistols for the primary school location that teaches this combat style to produce said pistols. Refer to ZJ-15 entry for rundown of checklist.
