You'll Need A Doctor

"No." He told her. "He will not."

Massassi were not beasts, not really.

They had been changed centuries ago, mutated through Sith Alchemy to have more limited minds, but they weren't monsters. It was best to think of them as purpose built drones, things that had a reason for existing, and things that did that quite well.

Vrak trusted no warriors more. "Inject the serum."

The Pureblood commanded.

Irajah stepped up, a little hesitantly. But when the Massassi barely even looked at her, she reached up, injecting the virus into the side of it's neck. She stepped back swiftly.

If she'd had any say in it, the creature would have been caged during the first few minutes. But she kept her mouth shut. She didn't know how the Massassi processed pain, but she stepped back far enough to put a table between her and it. She watched impassively as it grunted, face contorting slightly.

"The change will come upon different host species in slightly different ways," she commented. "But it should only take- there it goes."

Her tone was impassive, clinical.

"The first stage will come quickly. As more and more of the genetic code is rewritten, more of it can be. It functions at an exponential rate as the virus duplicates quickly in the host's system. The second stage, that of recovery, will take approximately a day. I do not recommend utilizing them until after that period of rest. They will require more food in that time than whatever their usual intake is."

He reached out with the force the moment he noticed the changes.

The Virus was born of science of course, but it's true interaction was born through the force. Every living thing, be it parasite or Titan, was somehow connected to the force. Even those creatures that pushed it away were somehow drawn to or from it. That was the way of life. As Vrak closed his eyes and began to focus, he sensed the creatures that stood just a few feet away from him.

There was a moment of resistance, a push back, but he could feel the virus work.

She spoke to him, in that defeated neutral tone. Her words proved to be correct even as she explained what she meant. Vrak could sense the creatures will fall away, but it would take time to complete, time to run it's course. Slowly The Pureblood opened his eyes, a small smile drawing across his lips. Joy rolled within him. This...This would do. With the Virus he would be able to seize Siedra's armies, draw them away and turn them upon the Council.

It was a weapon that would allow him to move against all of his enemies at once.

The army would be directed towards The Council, Sera towards Siedra, and he himself would take back what was his. "Well done, Doctor."

He looked down at her.

"Do you see now?" He asked. "What you can accomplish when you listen?"

Now she looked at him, her face expressionless.

"The only thing I have accomplished as far as I am concerned is my end of our agreement," she said tightly.

She waited, her entire body tense, though she tried to hide it. She wasn't entirely sure yet if she believed him. How much easier would it be to kill her now, after all? Or keep her here? If he kept her here.... then she would die. It was only a matter of waiting for his beasts to fail, to collapse into a slow, agonizing death.

Right now, there were only two options ahead of her. Freedom. Or death, one way or another.

"Indeed." He would keep his word.

She likely thought him a complete monster, and in a way she wasn't wrong. Vrak had already killed dozens of people, and in the future he would kill dozens more. The Pureblood was far from genocidal, but the path that he had set himself upon was a bloody one. There was no denying that there would be cities to burn, worlds that would need to be cowed. This virus would help with that. He'd be able to wipe out entire planets without ever comitting any of his own soldiers.

He wondered if she realized what she had done for him today, what she had set in motion in this place. He smiled slightly, and then stepped forward, disregarding the Massassi whom was now hunched over slightly, his hands gripping his face.

Vrak set his hands upon the collar on her throat, his fingers slowly grasping two small clips. There was a slight beep, and then the mechanism at the back of the collar released. He removed the barbaric device, tossing it onto the table. If he was at all concerned about betrayal at her hands now, he didn't show it in the least. His lips thinned as he looked down at her, taking just a single step back as he took a breath. He smiled.

"Here." He offered his hand, and odd sort of kindness.

She was utterly still when he closed this distance, his hands moving to her neck. She didn't even realize she had closed her eyes until she heard the clicking release and felt the weight of it fall away. Irajah blinked, drawing in one, long, shaking breath.

He.... was going to do it. He was going to let her go.

She watched him, wary despite the growing elation in her breast. For a moment, she simply stared at his hand, as though it were a viper rather than an apparent peace offering. Slowly she reached out, her hand barely brushing his for what she intended to be the shortest handshake in the history of forever.

The moment her hand touched his, he seized her.

His other palm struck out like a viper, fingers wrapping around her wrist, pinning her hand in place within the air. He looked at her, cold, dead state. "A Doctor's hands..."

Vrak trailed off as he glanced towards her fingers, his eyes wandering up to her own a second later.

"Are a precious thing." She could attempt to tug and pull herself free, she could try to kick him or bite him or do anything of the sort, but his grip upon her was iron. Bruises would surely form upon her skin, though that would be the least of her worries. Irajah would see his attempt as his other hand wrapped around her index. "They can perform wondrous miracles. Heal the sick, tend to the dying. Create marvelous things that ordinary men could only dream of."

He paused, and then suddenly turned and twisted his hand, jerking it to the side as a loud snap would echo through the room. "It's a shame to ruin yours."

The words came as he moved on to her middle finger.

She did fight back. Twisting, she hit his arm, her strikes frantic but not particularly effective. Grabbing his wrist, she stared at him, hazel eyes reflecting fear for the first time.

"No, no please-"

And for the first time, she begged.

The pain of the snapping finger didn't make her scream. But it did drive her to one knee, a strangled cry escaping her lips. Tears sprang to her eyes as she tried to draw in deep breaths of air that hardly seemed to satisfy.

"Y-you said you'd let me go," she said, her voice shaking, along with the rest of her body. "Y-you promised-"

"It is a promise I intend to keep." Vrak's words were punctuated by another echoing snap that rang through the room, her ring finger breaking just as the other two had. His hand wrapped around her pinky as she fell to the ground, his other palm still wrapped right around her wrist. "You will walk free."

Another crack.

"I will even return you to your world." His hand moved up, slowly grasping her thumb, mangled hand shaking and bleeding. Vrak gave no indication of pity, no indication of mercy. His face remained impassive, his eyes cold. He stared at her as he slowly proceeded. There was no hesitation even as she begged, the next digit breaking with the same echoing sound as the last. Slowly he released her wrist, her hand instantly curling into herself as she whimpered.

Before she could do anything he snatched her other hand.

"Right." The sixth snap rang out. "To the steps of Panatha."
