Gilamar Skirata

The most important step is always the next one
Eshan: Queen's Throne Room
It had been ages since the last time he had been on the Echani home world. Back then it had been a different time, both Echani and Mandalorian struggling to keep themselves separate from their respective influences, the Republic and the Sith Empire. At one time they considered each other friends, rivals. They still did. But where one had fallen, the other had succeeded. The Echani were now a part of the Republic and the shipyards that the two warrior cultures strove to improve now served a different master. The Mandalorians on the other hand had somehow scrapped by, carving a place in the Galaxy for themselves and using their greatly improved shipyards to great effect.

But now here he was again. About to ask for their aid, bypassing the Republic. But now, a new leader held the reigns, and many familiar faces were gone (Yes Gilamar could tell them apart!). He needed their shipyards once more. They had helped him and his people on several projects, and he had hoped that the trend would continue...But now he was being challenged. The young queen, rumored among the Mandalorians to be Force Sensitive, and powerful at that. What would become of him now, well...He might end up with a few bruises, a couple broken bones, but there was no way he would let this...child beat him into oblivion.

The sat upon her throne bored out of her mind. She glanced over paper work on the affairs of the planet as well as the Republic. She was never the type to enjoy this, but it was what she was groomed to do as the First Apprentice. Before Desimus’ fall from power, people assumed that the young blonde would step into her master’s place and continue to usher in the promises that laid unclaimed by the Sith. Others had plans for them and they were both unseated and sent off to parts of the galaxy. A finger played with the ring on her finger, only a few knew her relationship with her former Master and she would stray from talking about it especially as her face with the Republic. To some, Ashin had passed and was never to be seen again – though some knew better than that.

The young Queen had not worked with the Mandolorians personally, she had only stepped in to help defend the planet from the invasion the Sith had planned before all of this. Now, the Mandolorians were asking to use the shipyards and because of who the Mandolorians were aiding she couldn’t just allow this. Remembering the tales she learned when her father was in charge, she decided to respect the old history between the two warrior cultures. Proof of might and worth was to occur; a hand maiden wandered behind Spencer and tied the thin leather battle armor the Echani created. The woman removing her robes left her in the light tunic and the combat pants the warriors were typically out fitted with.

“Make sure the Mandolorian knows where to go – we’ll fight here I’ve been wanting to renovate the throne room anyways.”

Nodding the same handmaiden ran off to meet with the Mandolorian and guide him to the throne room. He wasn’t far and as Spencer heard the door opening; her youthful face glanced up from over her shoulder.

“I hope you don’t mind that I felt like reliving history. Our cultures so intertwined with each other, so similar with values, but so different. Prove yourself worthy and you’ll have access to whatever you desire on Eshan. Fail, and I’ll be sure to mark you banished till you can otherwise prove yourself Mando.”

The terms were simple enough. They fight, he wins and they could use their shipyards...If he lost, he would have to find someone else to work with him. With a huff and a grunt Gilamar nodded. Children now-a-days. The old man thought to himself. But really. As of right that second, two of the most powerful people in the galaxy were mere children. One held the title of Counselor of the Republic, the other Queen of the Echani and probably one of the most powerful Force users he knew of. He had seen what she could do during the Dark Harvest crisis...

"Understood, seems simple enough." The response was simple, just like Gilamar was himself. It was a shame. The one weapon that he could have used against her in a fight to the death was only good for killing. Now, he was reduced to his besbev and his beskad, and not even the edges. This would be an interesting fight for sure. "Women and children first. That would be you, lil lady."

“Well aren’t you polite?”

Spencer smiled as she turned fully towards him. No weapon but her lightsaber clung to her side. Dust would stain it, but the fact that she enjoyed polishing it kept the unused weapon clean. She took a couple of steps towards him causing a click of her heel each time. She didn’t act, not yet she needed to size up her opponent first. He seemed strong and she knew the Mandolorians were nothing to be laughed at. Taking in a deep breath, she focused her mind using Battlemind to bolster her spirit and stamina in the coming battle. The woman a specialist with Battle meditation, knew each step of the technique.

Once more a step was taken, but with this one her arms moved pushing the force towards him with all of her might. She wanted to test his resistance and see how much he knew about combating a force user. The Force push acted like a gust of wind as she stationed herself using the Echani Combat training she had received. Her body anchored and manipulated the Force, she had other tricks up her sleeve – she just needed to see his moves.

Analyze and strategize.

The old man's eyes narrowed behind the black visor of his helm. He had been around long enough to know that when a Jedi sighed it was due to one of two things. They were frustrated, or they were about to use the Force. His years of battle and training couldn't help his aging body and the cracking and creaking of bones under stress, but what it could do was help him understand the nature of another person's movements. The flexing of muscles, the expanding of lungs beneath the chest, oh and of course the moving forward. Throwing himself to the left, his old armor clanked against the stone floor and cried out in protest, just as his own bones and muscles did, as he tucked and rolled, dodging the incoming force push. The small amount of dust that had been missed by the royal mouse droids was flung up into the air where he had once stood.

Pulling his besbev from the pouch on the small of his back, he threw the bladed beskar flute at his opponent. As it spun, the air passing through it played a weak, continuous note as it flew towards its target.
