  • Stopping Power: High (60mm, 81mm, 120mm), Very high (160mm, 220mm)
  • Recoil: None
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Can kill ysalamiri within its blast radius within 10-20 seconds
  • Can disable electronics within its blast radius
  • Detachable sabots made of magnetic materials for mass driver/HVC use
  • Augmentation rings
Strengths:
  • Can disable electronics thanks to its ion bomb filling
  • Can kill ysalamiri rather quickly
  • Can put non-ysalamiri organics to sleep
Weaknesses:
  • Indiscriminate: as with any explosive device, the Ygmicite Mortar Round affects all devices within blast radius range
  • Unguided guessing game: you still need to have an idea of where the targets are (or will be, if moving) prior to firing it
  • Must not be fired at point-blank range (depends on the round caliber)
  • Overdose possible, can kill other species with high doses of ygmicite in their sleep
  • One method can resist the ygmicite inside it: since ygmicite it can be neutralized by common gastric acids, it has to be either inhaled or injected
  • Acids: since ygmicite is a strong base, acids can neutralize it
DESCRIPTION
Janick knew that, just because one had an anti-ysalamir poison in ygmicite, it was not the end of the story. She decided to combine the ygmicite, which can put organics to sleep, with ion bomb filling, which can disable electronics, to create an ion mortar round that can kill ysalamiri before support elements, Force-using or not, can move in for the kill. However, weaponizing the ygmicite in this manner would also mean that it is going to be indiscriminate, and the bomb was designed to be compatible with existing mortars, and also to be fired from mass drivers or HVCs with detachable magnetic sabots, with the bomb's blast radius being dependent on caliber: 20m, 35m, 70m, 100m and 150m, with the most devastating effects within 5m, 10m, 20m, 25m and 40m of the detonation point for the 60mm, 81mm, 120mm, 160mm and 220mm calibers.

In addition, once the bomb is fired, it's gone for good: it's a single action weapon. Because of the blast radius, there is a minimum range, lest the weapon firing it risk being disabled: for this reason it is not recommended to fire a ygmicite shell at less than the blast radius, and since the round is unguided, one needs to have an idea of where the target is or where the target will be, depending on the target's mobility. Of course, the range of the Ygmicite Mortar Round depends on how many augmentation rings are used when fired out of mortars, with the range when fired out of mass drivers or HVCs depend on the muzzle velocity of the firing platform.

Please add the following weaknesses from the Ygmicite submission:
  • Overdose possible, can kill other species with high doses of ygmicite in their sleep
  • One method can resist it: since ygmicite it can be neutralized by common gastric acids, it has to be either inhaled or injected
  • Acids: since ygmicite is a strong base, acids can neutralize it
