DESCRIPTION
A recent development by the First Order, the Ye-9f Gunship is an evolution of the old Ye-4 Gunship designed to engage and destroy fighters. The Ye-9f represents a linear evolution, it is no major departure from the form set by its predecessor, it simply improves on the older design and updates it with newer technologies available to the First Order, largely focused around an advanced fire control system and fast-tracking gun mounts.
It's main armament is six rapid fire laser cannons on high-precision mounts, featuring a lower rate of fire but higher damage than the famous AG-2G and could be considered roughly comparable in overall capability. A single twin heavy laser cannon mount sits under the cockpit, covering the bottom of the craft and also providing a limited strike capability on heavier targets.
But overall the gunship is not designed to engage larger targets, and is mostly employed as an escort vessel for more vulnerable capital ships. It lacks any sort of warheads or versatility beyond what can be achieved with laser cannons on a hard target. It is also a very awkward ship to try and move via a hanger, and requires a great deal of excess vertical space. Nonetheless when employed as intended it is a fearsome threat to the strike fighter tactics commonly employed by the First Order's foes.
