ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Bulwark: XQQ-5 stations are fairly well protected, using layered shield systems and a thick Alusteel hull in order to withstand the dangers of space, whether it's a band of marauders or unusual stellar phenomena.
  • Outpost: XQQ-5 stations are designed to be used as outposts on the edges of known/controlled space, and because of that, they sport some otherwise unusual systems, such as exceptionally powerful sensors designed to detect threats from great distances as well as recycling systems to lessen the need for resupply or to extend supplies in emergencies.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not going anywhere soon: Unsurprisingly, the XQQ-5 is near stationary, only capable of making minor adjustments to its course while in orbit or to avoid oncoming objects.
DESCRIPTION
The XQQ-5 is a medium-sized space station designed by CorelliSpace to act as a well defended outpost in more volatile or unknown regions of space. For an ostensibly "civilian" station, it sports surprising resilient defenses in the forms of multi-layered shielding systems and a thick alusteel hull. It has much more active means of defense in the forms of highly automated weapons batteries - while each of these weapons is "civilian grade" in many star systems, the sheer number of them makes the XQQ5 as deadly as many military heavy cruisers. A cluster of three hangars and landing platforms provides the XQQ-5 another means of projecting power through a reasonably sized group of starfighters and support craft. Life onboard a XQQ5 Outpost is reasonably pleasant enough, with spacious if somewhat plain accommodations being available for most crewmembers along with all of the amenities typically found on a mid-grade passenger liner. In its stock version, the lower disc of the central hub acts as cargo and supply holding area, but many users customize these decks for their own specific purposes. It's not uncommon to see these decks house labs for exploration and scouting groups or hold a gravity well projector when employed as a border control outpost by local militaries.
