- Canon Link: N/A
- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: Fastbreeder
- Manufacturer: Aurora Industries
- Affiliation: Aurora Industries
- Market Status: Closed-Market
- Model: Xandret Shield System
- Modularity: Size can be scaled up or down to fit the starship being equipped with the system (larger ships require more than one)
- Production: Mass-Produced
- Material:
- Modified Internal Deflector Shield Generator Components
- Durasteel
- Taking direct inspiration from the shielding capabilities of the fastbreeder droids, the Xandret shields can reflect incoming energy based fire from enemy ships and redirect the blast back at the offending ship.
- Unlike Imperial-style shield systems, the Xandret takes more inspiration from Mon Calamari designs and have the generators contained within the ship's super structure with emitters placed strategically along the vessel's hull.
- The Xandret, true to its name, emits a special deflector shield known as an electromirror, but on a much larger scale than that created by the fastbreeders. Turbolaser fire, ion cannon shots, even solar ionization blasts can be deflected back towards their origin to impact.
- Shots that are not reflected back to their source are absorbed, much like energy fire directed at a molecular shield, with that energy and heat being shifted into overflow capacitors.
- The shield emitters for the Xandret are spread along the hull, while the generators themselves are within armored sections of the ship's superstructure, eliminating a vital system target for enemies to attack.
- While the Xandret system provides superior protection from energy attacks, solid projectiles such as from a mass driver or a hypervelocity round can pass right through it.
- If enough concentrated fire is directed on one spot of the shield, that section of the system will fail and expose the ship to the full force of such a concentrated barrage all at once.
As part of the continued modernization and experimentation occurring in Aurora Industries' Phase III program, a new shielding system was proposed by engineers working out of the facility on Sev Tok. Expeditions sent to the ruined Sebaddon system, where a solid chunk of the planet had been torn apart by the black hole due to the planet's decaying orbit, discovered the remains of several defunct droids along with vast reserves of rare metals. The droids, while they were sent on to the Nar Shaddaa facility for further research, had been studied enough to reveal a unique shielding system had been installed in them.
Attempts were made to replicate the system as to see what its capabilities were, and it was this when the team discovered the unique property of the electromirror. A blaster bolt sent by the team at their replica was reflected back and almost burned a furrow through the team member's face. Excited by the discovery, the team began upscaling the system to test it for ship systems and were pleasantly pleased with the results as they directed various kinds of weaponry at it. Physical projectiles were able to pass through it, but energy weapons, ion weapons, even solar ionization blasts, were stopped and reflected or absorbed.
