SPECIAL FEATURES
- The Endgame's blue-white bolts are designed to disintegrate targets quickly enough to outrun the propagation velocity of the action potential, preventing pain signals from reaching the brain; this is more or less reliable, at least on humans, but does not account for the various reactions a body may produce at suddenly losing a part of itself. Users are advised to aim for vital organs, preferably the head or torso.
- Unusually enough for a disruptor, the Endgame has a stun setting; being far stronger than is normal, side effects are to be expected.
STRENGTHS
- One Shot, One Kill: As is the norm for disruptors, the Endgame has the potential to be horrendously lethal if used right.
- "Super Humane": Unlike conventional disruptors, the Endgame acts near-instantly, "ensuring a painless death".
- Death From Afar: The Endgame shrouds its unstable bolts in energy sheaths to allow for long-range use.
WEAKNESSES
- Elegant Weapon: The Endgame is not some uncivilised weapon for the common grunt; its low ammo and firing rate demands skilful aim.
- Death from Afar: The Endgame is too long to be used effectively in close quarters; draw thy rapier and slay the curs with gallant vigour.
DESCRIPTION
Brand-conscious as ever, the Globex Corporation set out to create a more civilised disruptor following the controversy of the Checkmate; responding to entirely valid criticism about the excruciating deaths inflicted by conventional disruptors, the Experimental Armaments Division (ExAD) engineers assigned to the project eventually came up with a straightforward enough solution - accelerate the disintegration process to outrun pain signals.
Semi-reliable in humans, but not species with faster nerve signals, this so-so solution was nonetheless good enough for many governments. Even if some degree of excruciating pain may or may not be experienced, targets rarely have enough time to scream out in pain if the shot is well placed!
A "clean" and elegant weapon with a hefty price tag, it quickly became popular among more militaristic aristocrats.
