Wyvern Heights
Nirauan Highrise

Located in the closest district to the Hand of Thrawn, the seat of power for the New Imperial Order on its capital Nirauan, this is one of the most prized properties available in the Empire.

Spanning eighty floors and twenty four hundred feet above the arboreal world's jungles, the structure has been extensively renovated to highest industrial standards for Gordon's advanced R&D projects under
Cygnus Spaceworks.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Wyvern Heights
  • Classification: Corporate Headquarters, Research and Development Complex
  • Location: Nirauan
  • Affiliation: Gordon, Cygnus Spaceworks
  • Accessibility:
    • General Area:
      • Located in the bustling metropolitan area surrounding the Hand of Thrawn, the center of power for the New Imperial Order in its capital of Nirauan, there is already an extensive amount of public security provided by the Imperial Security Bureau and massive installations of planetary fortifications and defenses. Despite being dwarfed by noticeable more gigantic architectural mammoths, Wyvern Heights is an easily identifiable structure due to its unique color scheme and style. The location is also publicly listed as the headquarters for Cygnus Spaceworks, although a complete absence of publicity for the company makes this information esoteric.
    • Building Access:
      • The premises are completely barred from any visitors or guests, and the existing staff and employees are unable to leave the facility without proper clearance and Gordon's explicit permission. The premises are extensively and meticulously guarded by security systems, droids, and organic soldiers, focused on protecting valuable and cutting edge intellectual property.
  • Description:
    • Closer to a static star destroyer than a normal commercial building, ferrocrete foundations and support structures are reinforced and plated with durasteel. The exterior walls are coated with a black, sensor dampening material to prevent sensor systems from peeking into and spying on the building's inhabitants and their activities. Thick transparisteel windows crowd the building's surface, passively illuminating its profile as interior lights spill outward. Striking red floodlights and signal markers mark landing pads, entrances and important landmarks, starkly contrasting it from the rest of the metropolis.

POINTS OF INTEREST

  • Cave Subsystems (Level 0)
    • A massive amount of power is required for the facility's defenses, production facilities and research laboratories. In order to be completely self-reliant, the cave subsystems are mainly comprised of solar ionization reactors that are protected with reinforced ferrocrete and durasteel armor plating. The remaining space is utilized as secured storage facilities for non-critical alloys, resources and components and large testing facilities for weaponry and small craft.
  • Administration and Security (Levels 1-20)
    • Housing all of the facility's organic staff and employees, the first twenty floors are the least secured but still maintain an extreme level of scrutiny. Behavior and actions are strictly monitored to prevent any intelligence leaks, with all devices locked down with heavy handed encryptions and firewalls to prevent any slicing attempts for external communication.
    • The first floor serves as the hollow public entrance and is mainly frequented by a few service droids and security droids that maintain its elegant appearance. The wide and open space houses a large screening system that is only used when assessing and scanning potential employees. These recruits are often left to sit in the massive lobby, free to view its many holodisplays and promotional pieces under observation.
    • The next four floors are dedicated to office spaces for administrators and secretaries as well as some of the finest cuisines, entertainment venues, and recreational facilities imported and transplanted inside. Due to a tiny customer base and small employee base, the number of actual administrators and secretaries is quite small compared to other companies and so many offices are empty.
    • The other fifteen floors have their own domestic ecosystems built-in with educational and training facilities specific to the role of its inhabitants. These floors are divided and distributed based on importance, with administrators, secretaries, and support staff occupying the lowest floors, military personnel occupying the middle floors, and scientists and craftsmen occupying the upper floors. In order to preserve data integrity between levels, each role is isolated from the others, and their communal spaces work on a reservation-style system.

  • Research and Development (Levels 21-40)
    • R&D is at the heart of the Wyvern Heights facility and thus, most of the facility's resources have been diverted into providing cutting edge tools, computers, artificial intelligences, and technologies for its researchers. The researchers themselves have been head hunted and scouted from throughout the galaxy, providing an intellectual community that few could match. As knowledge and skills are considered paramount above all else, this has brought in a wide range of characters, with most of the researchers being infamous criminals and morally ambiguous at best. In order to prevent any mishaps and tension between researchers, each researcher has their own fully equipped laboratory and is granted additional funding, resources and manpower based on their results. Direct competition and sabotaging is strictly forbidden, although the researchers have become creative by forming like-minded factions to choke out resources from their competitors. The two largest factions are the Royals, led by Hapan scientists and comprised mostly of Humans, and the Exiles, a cooperative among Verpines, Baragwins, and Chiss.
  • Fabrication and Production (Levels 41-60)
    • Prototypes and small-scale production can be done in-house, with molecular furnaces serving as the core of the facility's manufacturing capabilities. The first four levels are broken down into individual workshops dedicated to each chief engineer, equipped with nanoforges, a wide array of tools, larger plasma forges, and diagnostic and testing units. The other levels were made into specialized factories divided into: Self-Constructing Armament Factories, Self-Regulating Droidmakers, General-Purpose Synthicators, Garment-fabricators, and finally, Internal Dock Yards for Small-Craft.
    • The diversity of equipment and factories enabled the facility to be flexible and dynamic in its outputs, focusing on variability over specificity. The drawback is that the facility is unable to support mass production of a singular entity type that other more specialized facilities could handle, limiting its utility outside of prototyping and limited production. Furthermore, corvettes and other capital ships are unable to be directly produced, at most being able to produce the components and parts for one such ship to be assembled off-site.

  • Gordon's Personal Laboratory (Levels 61-80)
    • The one-man think tank of Cygnus Spaceworks, Gordon spends most of his time in the extremely large laboratory that takes up most of the floors. Various components and prototypes for starfighters, droids, and cybernetics are neatly categorized and placed in corresponding segmentations of the space.
    • A personal living accommodation is on the top most floors, having a variety of tools and fabricators to initiate any self-repairs and cybernetic installations. Here, various models of Gordon's robotic frame have been constructed, alongside prototypes and formerly utilized parts. They have a certain amount of sentimental value to Gordon, preventing him from scrapping them and recycling them for raw materials.

SECURITY

  • TIE Hangar Bays (Levels 20, 40, 60)
    • Three entire floors are dedicated hangar bays that are mainly comprised of sophisticated launch racks for storing and rapidly deploying TIE/OTx Outlanders. These craft were chosen due to their prefabricated droid brains, enabling them to drastically shorten deployment times by eliminating pilot boarding procedures and pilot response times. The Outlanders can instead be directly deployed onto the field and then later reinforced with other more advanced starfighters with skilled starfighter pilots.
    • Each TIE Hangar Bay has the following squadrons:

  • Advanced Security Systems
    • Perpetual Vigilance
      • The facility is constantly monitored and patrolled by surveillance droids, military droids, cyborg soldiers, and full-spectrum sensor systems. Shifts are staggered and stacked, with guards constantly sweeping every possible entry point to detect any signs of infiltration. Internal and external sensor arrays are densely scattered, built with overlapping sensor coverage to prevent any gaps or breaks in surveillance. All of these systems are built in isolation and with their own individual back-up generators, forcing any intruder to slowly bypass each and every one if they desire to be undetected. These components are monitored and managed by feeds that connect to a central artificial intelligence, which is segmented and duplicated every twenty levels.
    • Isolation and Containment Protocols
      • In order to prevent the entire facility being at risk if a floor is infiltrated, thick durasteel blastdoors and walls make up the facility to allow any part of the facility to be completed locked out of the rest. Powerful defoliator explosives are built-into each room, meant to vaporize any organic matter, and are paired with incendiary blasts to ensure nothing survives. Each level has its own centralized security system that is connected to and managed by a higher central artificial intelligence, along with their own independent garrison of military droids and Dark Troopers.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Wyvern Heights was originally a luxury highrise focused on catering to the New Imperial Order's socialites and wealthiest patrons. It was in its final stages of construction before its management company was bought out by Gordon. The foundations were fortified and reinforced numerous times to reach military standards, replacing gaudy furnishings and interiors with cold, mechanical industrialism. While some of the living spaces of the lowest floors were left in tact, the rest of the facility was completely transformed into the current corporate headquarters and research complex that it is today.

The building never had an official opening and seemed to disappear, with all publicity ceasing and being systematically removed from public record. Many of its former customers were confused at receiving an immense payout and the few that were doggedly curious about the matter were silenced.
