- Don't Sweat It :: Handheld war fans that can be used to stay cool in hot climes or while under fire. They can collapse and be concealed, or expand and lock open for striking at opponents or deflecting their attacks. Unlike traditional war fans, however, these can also withstand blocking a lightsaber or blaster fire -- though the wielder still needs strong upper body strength to be truly effective.
- Versatile :: Open, the top ridge of the fans can easily slice through flesh. Closed, the fans can be used to strike opponents much like a club or baton. The finger ring also enables the wielder additional combat moves not possible with ordinary fans (twirling around a finger, for example).
- Dagger Reach :: These war fans are easily concealed; consequentially they are also relatively small resulting in a shorter reach.
- Dagger Power :: They are not vibroblades or lightsabers. Songsteel being a lighter metal also means they lack the power of inertia behind every swing, placing the onus on the wielder to supply the cutting power. As a result the Warfans are not very effective against metal armors.
Vexx isn't about to stroll into the Senate Chambers with a massive greatsword or heavy repeating blaster strapped to her back. That said, she doesn't plan on being cornered in a dark hallway unarmed being all too aware of the dark side of the galaxy (no Sith required). So, Dominique had two songsteel war fans commissioned so she could pass them off as nothing more than an accessory when it was convenient, and use them for self-defense when someone cranked up the temperature.
As songsteel fans these are not naturally very powerful. They don't cut through metal, and doubtful they'd even cut through bone without a very strong person wielding them. They can, however, block a lightsaber or errant blaster bolt to save their owner's life; and really, at the end of the day, that's all Vexx really cares about. Well, that and being fashionable.
