Orbit - Cathay
Unknown Regions

The War of the Blue Diamond had ended several decades ago as the Chiss Ascendancy held out long enough for the Catharian Hegemony to fall apart at it's seams. All of the CEDF's tacticians predicted as much, but a lot was lost on the way to peace in Ascendancy space. Then, more devastation came with the destruction of Csilla at the hands of The Maw. The Chiss Ascendancy had deep war wounds and time could only heal so much.

Sometimes, one needed to exercise their power to accelerate the healing process.

The first thread of peace was extended by the Chiss Revivalists. Sila had offered peace talks with the Hegemony to officially end the war. There had been no battle between the two nations for over 30 years but Sila had to ensure that their people would be at peace while the Chiss Ascendancy was being rebuilt. After that, the Hegemony would be free to lead a suicidal war against the Chiss as they so desired. This was the hope that their leadership had gotten more self-preservative than their predecessors.

A lone Ticsuti II lied in wait just in orbit of Cathay, the capital of the Hegemony. Onboard were some of the Chiss Revivalists finest. Sila was at the head of a table within the meeting room. Once the Catharian Hegemony's delegation made it onboard the ship, they would be led straight there by Chiss warriors and whosoever would find themselves escorting the delegation. Meanwhile, planetside, a secret mission was underway as those chosen has entered the area of operation. Should everything go as planned, the Chiss would end up the victor on two fronts.

Objective I - Participate in the peace talks or day to day activities onboard the Tiscuti II currently serving as a diplomat ship. The Catharian Hegemony's delegation is on approach and preparing to land in the hangar. [Political/Social/Military RP]

Objective II - Reports tell of a high security prison in the city of Xzeench, holding Chaf'ari'sifen Chaf'ari'sifen , Patriarch of House Chaf. An infiltration team has been dispatched into the city, several miles from the prison and are tasked with breaking in to the prison, finding the prisoner, and escaping with the prisoner alive. Objective 2 - Breakout

Rakom entered Cathay via his 'Quick Jaunt,' a Vector Class fighter which was normally docked to his Constellation Class Transport, the Sapphire Soul. He flew over the target area, taking detailed sensor readings. Then he flew past, landing at a civilian starport at the periphery of Xzeench.

From there, he boarded a hover-train that would bring him to a hotel where the extraction team had agreed to meet. While riding the train, he was not wearing the blue skin or red eyes of his birth. No, he had been meticulously made-over to have the appearance of a normal human. It felt dishonest to go about in the world like this, pink-skinned and blue-eyed. But this was dishonest work, so that tracked.

The hover train did not take long to bring him to the Section C stop, which was within walking-distance of the hotel. He was the first to arrive, checking in to the business suite and making it known that other guests would arrive soon for the Catharian Trade Conference being held in the city.

Inside, he unfolded a portable holoprojector onto the hotel room's small worktable and then sat, waiting for the others to arrive. Over the next hour, they would finalize their plans for the extraction and then pull off their 'heist' of a most-wanted prisoner.

Getting into the prison would not be very hard. They were built to keep people in.

Getting out, again?

That was the rub.

Objective 2 - Breakout

Matma rubbed his "skin", grumbling as he walked past the hotel where the extraction team was meeting, keeping an eye out for any tail; could never be too careful. He didn't like being away from Seeker Facility too long nowadays. He trusted the Hellions to keep the haven safe; they had been against worst odds, and come out on top.

Rather, Matma didn't like to be away from the Ozyly-esehembo for too long. The next generation of Sky-Walkers needed a teacher, and there weren't any additional Force-Sensitives that responded to the call, so it was on him. He welcomed the change of pace, hence his trepidation. Still, even Matma couldn't ignore the importance of the retrieval of House Chaf's patriach.

Satisfied that he wasn't being followed, Matma entered the hotel, opting to take the stairs. Exiting after a few landings, he found himself at the rendezvous point. Matma knocked on the doors the agreed-upon number of times, and waited to be let in.

Plikh'ala'niu stood facing the slowly rotating world before him, hands clasped together behind his back. The ambience of the bridge consoles beeping quietly, and the officers tapping away at them reminded the former captain of his time in the Galactic Alliance. There, he'd been an outcast amidst the crew of Twi'leks, Rodians, Sullustans, and predominantly: humans. Although Khalani had nothing against them, he felt refreshed nonetheless being surrounded by his own people.

For some reason, he felt a strong bond with the officers at his side, even though they had met just hours before. He guessed that it was the cause they were fighting for, and the faction everyone hoped would rise from the ashes. The fact was, the Chiss at his side weren't just wishing and praying for it. They were taking action. And Khalani supposed one would feel trusting of the other in a circumstance like this.

He turned his gaze to the situation around him, grateful that he was here. Glancing at the bridge chrono on the foremost console, he nodded to himself. The Cathar would be here shortly. Khalani exited the bridge in a brisk stride, heading for the designated meeting room where Sila Sila , and maybe some others, were waiting.

"Welcome, brother," Rakom said to Matma Bernu Matma Bernu once he had been admitted into the room.

He gestured to the holo-display he'd arranged.

"I have an updated scan of the facility. I also have a fighter nearby, and a ship in orbit.

The Cathar are known to be dangerous warriors, and infiltrating the facility convincingly seems like a non-starter to me.

I think we're going to have to go for shock and awe. Hit the prison with such overwhelming force and suddenness that they can't formulate a coherent response before we are departing with the target.

The important thing to my mind is that we are not identified as Chiss. That way Sila's diplomacy won't suffer blowback. They will surely suspect our species identity based on the extracted subject, I just don't want them to have easy confirmation they can put into her face to ruin negotiations.

But I'm very open to hearing your thoughts.

This is not my usual profession."

He waited for Matma's input. The Chiss were in a position where they were forced to use the available expertise, and each person only knew what they knew.

But if they let that hold them back, they'd never get anywhere.

Objective I

Sila sat silently as her eyes were captivated by a holorgram on the table before her. It displayed the Catharian ship as it approached the Tiscuti II and entered the hangar. Her guests had finally arrived. Her face was still, showing no emotion as she awaited the delegation. As the ship landed, several Chiss warriors approached the Cathar ship. As they did, the ship's belly opened up, revealing 3 Catharian diplomats. They were fine robes made of silk and were the crimson, black, and gold of their fallen nation's flag. Outstandingly regal sight they were. The diplomats were flanked by two guards as was expected.

Sila tuned into her communicator as the events were unfolding before her via holoprojector. "Captain, escort the delegation to the meeting room. I eagerly await their presence."

The captain onboard was Sechi'tad'rymun, or Itadry for short. A well decorated warrior from the War of the Blue Diamond. Sila ensured he would be present for the peace talks personally. In case the Cathar were to turn hostile, she was confident in his capabilities against them should they pose a threat.

"Welcome aboard, Cathar. We are grateful for your presence. If you would follow me, please. Dr Sila eagerly awaits you in the meeting room." stated the captain.

The Cathar had nothing to say, electing to silently follow the captain.

Objective II

As a prisoner of war, one only has one objective: survive.

No matter what they do to you, you survive. Any way that you can. Survival was a core tenet among the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. To continue to live and fight for the Chiss Ascendancy. Inside the walls of the Catharian prison, Faris had spent a very long time surviving. His will had been tested for so very long. Yet, it has not broken. He knows that one day freedom will be his again and he will continue fighting until he achieves it.

The Chiss warrior was in his cell. Doing a few push ups to pass the time and stay fit. One of the most important aspects of surviving as a prisoner of war was staying fit. To allow your body to waste away is exactly what your captors want. To make you weak and feeble so they can break you.

The climate of the prison was fairly standard. The day-to-day was going as scheduled. Guards walked their patrols and the prisoners were living out their sentences.

It was as normal day. For now.

Objective 2 - Breakout

Matma eyed the holo-display, then looked up at Rakim. The facility was certainly secure. A covert extraction- while preferable- may not be plausible in the window of opportunity they have.

"I agree that use of force will certainly be the most expedient option we have. I would recommend we first blind them- we disable their sensors, cut off their power, isolate them. We stop them from reaching out for additional help. And when we go in, we open all the cells, not just Chaf'ari'sifen's."

"In doing so, we limit the amount of variables in play, and as well as make it more difficult to attribute an escape to the Chiss."

Matma paused.

"We will have to move fast- prison is dangerous, and we won't be able to fully guarantee Chaf'ari'sifen's safety in the middle of a prison riot."

The doors to the meeting room slid open before Khalani, and he stepped in. The only presence here was Sila Sila , but that would soon change. The member of the Plikh family nodded to the other Chiss. "Sila," he greeted. He turned his gaze to the holoprojector built into the middle of the table. A group of warriors escorted the Cathar and their bodyguard complement to the room.

So this was it. The young faction's first taste of diplomacy. Khalani set his datapad on the table and opened a note-taking app. He wanted to be able to remember this conversation in case anything came up in the future regarding the talks. Although, his notetaking might be futile, he knew, as he threw a surreptitious glance at the ceiling. Cameras may have been implemented somewhere in here, though hidden surveillance systems would be the better play.

Well, he had no reason to worry about such things. After all, the Cathar diplomats were coming to the Chiss, not the other way around. Any surveillance would be beneficial to the Revivalists.

Khalani half-turned in his chair towards the door he'd entered through just a minute ago, setting up to wait for the Cathar.

Rakom nodded.

"I think that's a good play."

It was good to have a partner who knew what he was about.

"So... here's what I'm thinking."

He pointed. "This is the satellite police station closest to the prison. In the event the prison experiences a major problem, reinforcements are likely to be summoned from here immediately.

They'll come on one of these Armored Personnel Carriers. Up the street here, round the bend, down the street here, right into the prison. Twenty Cathar security personnel aboard, ready to render lethal force to contain whatever problem erupts at the prison. The Cathar take these matters seriously, and do not dare allow things to get out of hand.

But this is the weakness. They park the APC speeder here, in this open lot. Always running. Always hovering. Always ready.

But poorly guarded. Who would dare rob the police?

If we can sneak in, we can use handheld grav clamps to secure ourselves under the speeder, between the repulsorlift emitters.

I can command my fighter- with its droid brain- to fly over to the prison and shoot the prison bloc. Alarms abound. The APC is loaded with troops and dispatched. Meanwhile, air speeders are dispatched to deal with the fighter. The fighter flies off, air speeders in pursuit.

The APC enters the prison.

The troops disembark.

We drop, and unload on them from beneath the speeder, using automatic weapons. The Cathar are great warriors, but even they can't defend from an attack that cuts them off at the knees.

We down the troops, and walk in. Shooting guards as we go. Pop the cells open. Retreat to the APC amidst the riot. Drive away in a security vehicle that won't be stopped or searched.

Head on down to the starport, board a shuttle, go up to my ship, and hyper-jump away."

He shrugged, "What do you think?"

Getting into Xzeench had been easy enough. The diplomatic meetings happening in orbit made it so a Chiss traveler wasn’t an odd sight. Even getting her tools of the trade past security was surprisingly easy. Not that she hadn’t developed pretty foolproof manners of sneaking armaments into areas they shouldn’t be. Getting off Tiecia would have to be sure to get a ride off planet from one of the other operatives that she would need to run into in order for the mission to be a success. A single infiltrator was not going to be successful against the target of this mission. Since Tiecia had not established a team within the Chiss Revivalists, she decided that impeding the response of the local law enforcement to the moves made by more capable Chiss assets was her best play.

With her goodies filled bag slung over her shoulder, Tiecia made short work of the “security” of the local police station. After all, it is a rarity that someone tries to break into a police station. Tiecia made her way directly towards the parked APC speeders and started strategically placing charges that could be detonated upon activating the vehicle. While her wiring the charge into the speeder’s system was pretty advanced, the tactic was one that had been used for ages. She had nearly completed the sabotage of the dormant speeders when she noticed one that appeared active and ready to roll. ”Well…what have we here?” Tiecia questioned out loud, but to herself. She sunk back into the shadows and observed, wondering if she had arrived too late. Was the assault on the prison already started? Were the police really only sending one response vehicle?

After silently watching the speeder for several moments and no further activity towards the vehicle, Tiecia guessed that it was a stand by vehicle. On the ready for any trouble that would come to pass. Just as it was easy to get into the police station, and sabotage their parked vehicles, the ready vehicle also seemed to be judged as an unlikely target and as such the security surrounding it was quite lax. Tiecia made her way to the vehicle and started to install charges here as well. The placement and tie-in to the speeder’s systems would not be as simple as it was with the dormant speeders. It would take a bit of time, but it seemed like there was no rush. Climbing underneath the hovering vehicle she went to work at making sure it would be nullified when the attack started.

Rakom smiled.

"Just as soon as I send in the fighter on an attack run, the prison will scramble for reinforcements. Air speeders, and ground speeders. That's when the APC will be loaded up with troops and float on in."

He stood up, deactivated the holo, and nodded to the door. "We'll want to be in the undercarriage when that happens. Shall we?"

As predicted, the Cathar Industries APC-120 was hovering in the lot of the police satellite facility. The vehicle had a blaster cannon on top, extensive sensor and communication booms, and most importantly... a place for up to twenty troops to board into a passenger compartment. The vehicle was meant to enter a difficult situation, disgorge its passengers, and defend them if necessary. Because its Class B repulsorlift engines could take up to 90 seconds to come to full power, the repulsorlifts were always kept at standby condition. The vehicle floated here, even unattended, through each shift just in case it was needed.

It was from this satellite police facility that the first reinforcements would arrive at the prison in the event of an emergency. But perhaps the Cathar didn't believe anyone would actually attempt to tamper with a police vehicle, so there was fairly little security on the lot.

It was a small matter for Rakom and Matma to slip in through the perimeter fence... but apparently someone beat them to it. Movement was apparent under their target APC. A mechanic?

Crouching beside the standby APC, Rakom drew his pistol and leveled it at a figure who was working under the speeder.

"Don't move!"

He spoke in a harsh whisper, not wanting to attract any attention from policemen who might be within hearing range.

He hadn't wanted the fighting to begin so soon. His weapon had no stun setting.

A tightness gripped his guts, as he was faced with the reality of actually killing.

Not just killing, but killing people who didn't deserve it. People just doing their jobs. People who happened to be in the way.

One, now. Dozens, later.

Today, he would become a mass-murderer.

Or he'd wither in the face of violence.

What was he willing to do for the Chiss cause?

Underneath the APC Tiecia had opened up several compartments hoping to find just the right system to wire her explosives into. The inactive vehicles were easy. Charges were wired to the on switch of the vehicle. Before they responded to danger they would have to turn it. Finding someplace that would not go off prematurely calling attention to trouble was a bit problematic. She could just place the charges and use a remote detonator. But that would mean sitting somewhere close by so that she could trigger the explosives…

The harsh whisper not to make a move caused Tiecia’s body to go stiff as a board. ”Chit,” she cursed under her breath, a foul habit she learned as a freelance. Hopefully she would relearn Chiss discipline now that she was fighting for the Revivalists. She allowed the charge to hang from her hand as she moved both to show the voice her empty palms, even before she shifted her eyes to see what the threat was.

How did they find her? And why were they whispering instead of screaming bloody murder? She turned her head to the side and smirked as she saw a fellow Chiss rather than a furry Cathar security officer. ”The longer I stay still the higher the likelihood that I’ll drop this charge. It shouldn’t blow on impact, but I didn’t make the charge myself so no guarantees….”

As she looked she saw another set of boots. ”What’s the plan guys? I have already wired the dormant APCs to go boom as soon as they flip on…but haven’t quite figured out when this one should be rendered useless to prevent a jailbreak…” There was little reason for other Chiss to be in this police yard other than to aid in retrieving their asset from the nearby prison, so Tiecia saw little harm in openly discussing the mission.
