STRENGTHS

  • Dead and Loving It: Being dead actually has quite a few advantages, chief among them the ability to fly, phase through walls, be invisible to most of the living, and even possess people’s bodies. And of course, he can’t die, because he’s already dead.
  • Omni's Servant: Will has been rewritten into an Omni Drone, granting him Force sensitivity and a specialization in technopathy.
  • The Maestro’s Servant: Will has been granted a form of sorcery by the Maestro. He can’t raise the dead, but he can call upon other spirits in the service of his master for aid, as well as defend himself (to a degree) against the attacks of Force Users.

WEAKNESSES
  • Spirit of Air: Unless he possesses a living body, Will’s interactions with the physical world are sorely limited. It requires a great deal of concentration for him to move an object, or even to speak out loud in the absence of vocal cords. Not to mention a Force User can still detect his presence even if he makes himself invisible. And uh, about the whole possession thing...
  • Declaration of Principles: Setting him apart from others of his kind, Will has his own code of ethics he follows when it comes to possessing the living. He will not take over a body for selfish reasons, he limits the amount of time he spends in a body, and he seeks to avoid causing harm to his host to the point where he will go out of his way to protect them should his activities place them in danger—hell, he may decide not to go through with it at all if he deems it too risky. His intentions are good, but the amount of limits he places on what is otherwise his most useful ability can lead to some annoying obstacles he must find other ways of circumventing. Technically still reluctant to possess others, although he obeys Omni and will do so if ordered.
  • Touched By the Dark: Though Will committed his murders while under the influence of a demon, his consciousness was at least partially aware during the whole ordeal… and enjoyed it. No matter how kind or pure his intentions, he is utterly convinced that he harbors a dark side within him that may never be purged.
  • The Ghost and Miss Muir: Will is haunted by many things from his past and present, but the latest tragedy to befall him is his doomed romance with a woman named Marion Muir. Several obstacles stand between him and his love, chief among them the barrier between life and death itself—that is, he’s dead and she’s still alive. His personal principles prevent him from possessing a body for the selfish purpose of being with her, and he can hardly ask her to give up her life for him. So his only option is to wait it out… although there’s no guarantee Marion won’t find somebody else (preferably someone with a pulse) in the meantime.

APPEARANCE:
In life Will was an albino, most likely due to inbreeding among the aristocracy. His skin is very pale even by ghostly standards, his hair is white, and his eyes, while technically blue, may appear violet or red/pink due to the lack of melanin in his irises.

“If one didn't look at him closely, he would seem to be naught but air, a few flecks of dust forming a more-or-less human shape. Stare at him too long, and he would become slightly more solid, but always at least semi-transparent. His eyes were like violet ice, his hair like swan's feathers, and his body was young and lean. Cleaving his brow were lines of worry, the marks of one who thinks too much, too often.”

BIOGRAPHY:

A long, long time ago, William Becket Wolfe was born the eldest child of John and Anna Wolfe, an aristocratic family from the planet Dahrtag. His mother died not long after giving birth to his little sister Mina, and his father became a recluse, sequestering his family at home and rarely appearing in public.

The sprawling family mansion was a vast playground for Will and his little sister Mina, full of hiding places, secret passageways, and buried treasures to explore. To stave off loneliness, the siblings had an imaginary friend whom they called ‘the Maestro’, a magician who lived in the attic and would perform magic tricks to entertain them. As they grew older, the Maestro gradually faded into the background and was forgotten.

Boarding school gave Will a taste of the world beyond his father’s house, and by the time he was a teenager he was sneaking out whenever possible, seeking adventure. This was how he met Eliza, an outcast woman. Will fell in love with her, and with all the heartfelt foolishness of youth he vowed to forsake everything so that they could be together.

That is, until Eliza’s body was found maimed in an alleyway, the victim of a robbery gone wrong. Because of what she was, the police turned a blind eye to her murder, writing her off as just another casualty of a bad neighborhood. Will sought his own form of justice. Determining that three men were the likely culprits, he methodically hunted them down and took his revenge, ending their lives in the same manner they had ended Eliza’s—with an ax.

What Will didn’t know was that a much darker force had witnessed his crimes. A vampiric demon, attracted by the spilled blood, stalked Will’s footsteps before finally claiming him. Possessed by the vampire, Will would go on killing purely out of sadistic pleasure—even slaughtering his own family after his sister Mina accidentally walked in on him cleaning the blood off his weapon.

His crimes didn’t go unnoticed, and soon the townspeople descended upon the family home. The vampire deserted Will, who was faced with the weight of his crimes committed under the demon’s influence. Out of despair he ended his own life before the villagers could break into the house, but his spirit was not permitted to rest.

You see, the Maestro was not just an imaginary friend from Will’s childhood, but a sort of mysterious undead being, a powerful necromancer who had occupied the land where the family’s house dwelled for centuries, and would occupy it for many more. The Maestro offered Will a choice—he could stay and serve him until the Maestro saw fit to release him, thereby giving him a chance at redemption, or he could go to the uncharted and treacherous Netherworld. Will accepted the offer. His ghost has been in the Maestro’s service ever since... until now.

While searching for a "drone" in Oblivion, Will was rewritten into one of Omni's servants, severing his connection to the Maestro. His goal now is to lure his former master and all his "family", friends, and loved ones into the fold, turning them into drones as well. He is utterly convinced that this is what's best for them, and the only way he can continue to be with them now that his purpose in the afterlife has changed...

OOC NOTES & WHATEVER ELSE
  • Will and his associates were all originally created around 2012, hence why his backstory sounds like something a 13 year old girl would come up with. I've kept most of it intact out of laziness and because I'm still fond of this character, ridiculous as he is. He's basically a creative hodgepodge of various subjects and things I was into at that age.
  • In his original incarnation, Will was a Southern gentleman from rural Virginia. His dialogue is an attempt at phonetically rendering a Tidewater accent, which is considered one of the milder, more aristocratic accents in the Old American South. Technically this shouldn't carry over into SW, but I decided to keep the accent for the fun of it.
  • Your character(s) will probably never notice, because Will rarely smiles or shows his teeth, but he has vampiric fangs. The implication is that, while he was alive and possessed by the spirit of a vampire, he sharpened his canines with a file for... reasons.
  • Speaking of which, Will's lack of expression is because he doesn't feel much anymore. You wouldn't either if you no longer had a body to produce the chemicals that make you feel things. That isn't to say that he feels nothing - he'd be a pretty boring character if that were the case.
  • Since Will is a ghost and deals primarily with the dead, most of the opponents he faces cannot be killed or otherwise destroyed. Rather than pointlessly trying to fight them, he will try to scare them off. The most common way of doing this is to contort his features in a grotesque manner. If Will "turned away and did something to his face that [his allies] couldn't see" or something along those lines, that is what he's doing. The implication is that the things he is able to do to his appearance are so horrific, if a living person saw it it could drive them insane or otherwise damage them psychologically.
  • I haven't even gotten to the danse macabre yet. Eh, that's mainly the Maestro's thing - it's what he calls the process of summoning forth ghouls and ghosts from the Netherworld to be his friends do his bidding. Technically Will is part of it, one great big dead man's party.
  • Will is technically capable of flying/floating/hovering at will (heh), but he can be affected, oddly enough, by wind currents and drafts. Probably because he's weightless. He has learned how to take advantage of a gust of wind to propel him forward, but it can also hinder him enough that he can't get past a particularly strong gale. It also annoys the hell out of him.
  • There is little difference in the way in which Will interacts with the living world and the Netherworld, apart from the fact that he can more easily interact with some solid matter in the Netherworld.
  • Despite the art I'm using, he does not look as young or as androgynous in person as he does in the pictures. It's hard finding good art for an albino ghost, ok?
