Who wants to plot?

[member="Beatal Sarric"] looking at Beatal's character sheet I am not struck with any particular ideas for scenes. I can see why you've had trouble coming up with arcs, while she is certainly an interesting character her situation does make it tricky to plot around. I don't mean that as an insult or anything, like I said I think it's a wonderfully interesting character, just that I can see how being a slave to an NPC character and having your character not speak basic creates difficulty for story arcs when plotting with other people. Though she'd be amazing in a novel in my opinion.

Sorry, I got off on a tangent there.

Anyway, did any of my characters, in particular, grab your attention? Or do you have some idea for a plot?

[member="Sol Damerin"] Oh good so it wasn't just me! I may have gotten a tad too exited when creating her, and figured I should give a notable weakness like the lack of Basic...I may edit that soon or add onto the backstory a little bit, give her a reason to keep going, but for now still got nothing. I've actually been interested in getting someone that isn't a NPC character to actually be her master, be it me just making another character account or someone who volunteers, either way I'm definitely working on that one.

Reading through your sheets I'd say Sol and Zeraen, the mercs/bounty hunters would most likely cross her path more often. It could be a peaceful interaction or a violent one, going after the same bounty, simply bumping into each other on the street, you piss Toony off so Beatal's sent to attack, maybe one of them some how knows her master and is invited over to the ship or bar (Vice Versa) of course those wouldn't be too arc-worthy, nothing too exciting happens with those.

[member="Beatal Sarric"] that and when your character is tied to another or an NPC, threads need to be planned around that character. I get that with Alden a lot since he is kind of stuck on Ryloth for the moment tending to his people. It creates a cool character but you lose flex room which is beneficial for creating a more organic story, which I feel RP benefits from. Probably why Sol has seen so much more play than my other characters, he is marginally unique but his generally unaffiliated status makes him easy to just dump wherever.

Anyway, as for your suggestions. I feel like Zeraen would make for the more interesting fight if it came to that. Force User versus a non-FU tend to be very route just because there is a limited number of tactics a non-FU can use against a FU. Looking at what you have for Toony he doesn't seem the type of person Sol or Zeraen would know off hand. That does leave the same bounty idea which I like a bit more than bumping into each other in the street.

[member="Sol Damerin"] I've tried to make it a bit more casual, like she doesn't have to be by his side all the time and sometimes he just kinda sends her off on makeshift missions just to get away, so I've definitely to work on that, thanks for the input. We'll see, I'm just a little to attached to abandon him completely. It would also kinda screw up Beatal's backstory, and I'm too tired to deal with that right now.

I can't help but write Beatal to be pretty brutal and kinda insensitive (Maybe a little OP, I've tried to dull her down but the idea was just too good to throw away) so if you're interested in FU vs non-FU just be aware. The good ol' bounty seems like what interests you most, but again I'm rather new - never written anything like that before so It might be a little choppy and weird but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. There's also a ship crashing (Don't know how that would play in, just kinda spitting out more ideas) A call for help in space or something via holocom, Both being recruited and required to work together on said bounty, etc.

[member="Beatal Sarric"] oh I concur, it's a good character dynamic and one I wouldn't abandon completely. I could see two potential solutions to it. The one that would, in my opinion, make it easier to generate ongoing arcs would be to have Toony release Beatal. They could remain close friends but this does give the creative freedom of being able to have plots that don't need to consider the master character which opens up more freedom, which can be valuable early on. This would also allow you to keep Beatal's backstory as is.

The other option, as you noted earlier, is putting Beatal in the hands of a player master. This could open up some interesting ongoing arcs with whichever player she winds up working for. Though it does require a rather dedicated partner and holds many of the same issues for plotting with others that having an NPC master character does. That being that it is another character to plot around when considering a story.

Of course, take everything I say with a grain of salt. I am just telling you what I think might help you develop future arcs overall, but keep to what you enjoy. Also sorry again for getting off on a tangent, I like discussing things like this.

Anyway fighting over a bounty is something I've done before and it can be quite interesting. Usually, because it's a three-way battle between the two players and the NPC bounty, though it can be hard to strike a balance for the person DMing the bounty. Making sure the other player feels like they have a fair shot without totally undermining your own character. I've also done working on the same job threads, they can be quite good as well offering a nice balance between action scenes and social scenes. I don't have a preference between the two but could certainly make the choice if you'd prefer. However, if you have one you'd like over the other or an idea like over the others then we can do that otherwise I can make some decisions and set something up soon.

[member="Sol Damerin"] Now that you mention it that does sound like a good idea, a couple of arcs have already popped into my head just from figuring what would happen if Toony let Beatal go. Lots of chaos, I'll give you that much. I just may keep her a slave for a tad bit longer just in case I do happen get any arc ideas, and if not it could all kinda start with him letting her go.

I assume I can try and recruit someone, post like a 'Master wanted' thing but yeah there would still be some tie downs...they'd have to be equally as free as Toony had been with her to be even remotely capable of doing any of these rps, lots of coordination I assume would be needed.

You're fine, I'm benefitting from this don't you worry. Chatting about how to improve my character is always a plus.

If we did the same bounty I'm always flexible, I'd be fine with letting a bounty slip through Beatal's fingers. She won't be too happy about it . though. The other one sounds like less planning/coordinating, so i'm down with that one too. I'm still not really sure what I'm doing (Sorry for being like this) but I'll leave the picking and choosing up to you.

[member="Beatal Sarric"] it's less about improving your character, which is great as is, and more about figuring out how to more easily develop longer-term plots. But I am glad my advice is helping. As for what we should do, I'd like to use Zeraen as I haven't managed to get too many scenes with him thus far and I think going after the same bounty, at least at the beginning, would be fun. Could do the set up like smoking Ace's, or what I remember of it, a bunch of bounty hunters and assassins all hired to take out the same person in some public location. Could play it straight that, or do a betrayal on the employers part at some point so we have to team up.

[member="Sol Damerin"] I'm super bored, because all of the people I'm RPing with are super slow. I'm literally up for anything at the moment, so if you need an extra pair of hands just let me know.

[member="Beatal Sarric"] alrighty then I'll see about throwing up a starter either tonight or tomorrow evening. Weekdays are a tad busy for me so I usually do my posting and then starters if I still have time before bed.

[member="Rell Kapae"] always happy to start a new thread with someone, I try not to be slow. My general rule is no more than 24 hours between when someone posts to me and when I respond.

[member="Rell Kapae"] the next thread I start will be with [member="Beatal Sarric"] and I am probably going to go with a group of bounty hunters all hired to go after the same bounty at some populated location. If you want to work yourself into that as a villain you can I suppose as long as Beatal is fine with it.
