Who Doesn't Like A Council Of War? (The Underground)

UNDERGROUND BASE QQ-C4TG1R15
PLANET UNKNOWN

Resistance_command_center.png

It wasn't often that the Underground met in such numbers. The galaxy's longest-running resistance network survived through decentralization and a loose command structure. Secrecy, subtlety, and picking the right moment for the big hits had stood the Underground in good stead. They'd raided Coruscant at the height of the One Sith's power; they'd destroyed a numerically superior Fringe fleet at the Second Battle of Taloraan; they'd run guns, rescued fugitives, and trashed shiny evil things from one end of the 'verse to the other.

A large holographic map rotated above the centre of the meeting room. It depicted Black Rose territory, out past the Galactic Alliance.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore the possibilities inherent in kicking the clart out of the Black Rose, claiming their war materiel, and liberating a good portion of their people. Such an initiative might be feasible. Due to the Underground's extreme decentralization, feasibility would be a major topic today. Not even the general officers knew the extent of the Underground's assets, or the state of its farthest-flung operatives.

"C4TG1RL5?"

"Yeah."

The pair walked through the hall, on their way to the meeting.

"But that -"

"I know."

"It looks like-"

"I know."

"-Catgirls."

Kate glared at J'ohhn. The Duros man was looking at his data pad and grinning insufferably.

"Ugh," Kate sighed, "You're the worst. Look, I don't get to name these places, but they give us big meaty convoys to hit so I don't ask questions."

J'ohhn looked over at her, big eyes like two giant star fields. His mouth twitched.

Shorn frowned for a millisecond before realization made her eyes roll. "Shut up."

"You said-"

"Just shut up."

She pushed open the door to the meeting room and made her way inside before the urge to push J'ohhn out the nearest airlock became overpowering.

And before the door behind Katya could close, a slip of a girl entered just behind. Converse-clad feet only stumbled once on the floor before the slicer found a seat. Next to a very tall wookie. #tallerthantheusual. #rawrrawrroooar #alittlenervous

Speckled-face gave a nod to Shorn. Alliance chick. Ex-alliance chick? Who was that dude with her? Probably a boyfriend. Datapad was already out, half her attention on the Underground screen and the other half on the never ending feed. #spacebook

Curious about the plans of the resistance group, Suravi had decided to attend the secret gathering. With the recent inaction of the Republic, she was always looking to align herself with other groups willing to take a stab at the One Sith and their allies. She came not as Republic Senator, but as a representative of her people.

Due to the clandestine nature of the gathering, she had been in the dark about the exact topic of discussion. That seemed to be known to a select few who had organized the meeting. However, she quickly caught onto their plans as she recognized a map of the Order of the Black Rose, or rather, the remnants of the One Sith offshoot. In preparation for her
hearing with Sanya Val Swift, she had identified that its power base had been effectively reduced to the Sekalus System. She intended to keep it that way, knowing that the tyrant could never be trusted in the long term. She had been careful in her negotiations to ensure that the Galactic Republic would never aid Swift in reclaiming the old territories of the Black Rose.

She was feeling good about the meeting already.

"You sure this is the place?" BB asked his slicing computer as they entered.

"Yes and stop talking to me so directly, looks like you're talking to yourself Kid." LASS said into BB ear piece.

BB moved to the back seeming unnoticed, given his stature this was not all that uncommon. Slowly he looked over the map displayed trying to make heads or tails of it.

"What sector is that?" BB whispered as he pulled LASS from his shoulder bag so her holo-recorder was facing the map.

"Some where between Kathol and Elrood I think, quite a few system in there." She said.

"Well should be interesting to see what they have in mind." BB added.

The catgirl joke had, perhaps, been beneath her. But gorrammit, of all the Underground, she'd been the one to see the innate weirdness of that sector of space. Jokes helped her deal. And if she brightened someone's day, so be it.

General Beyyr was getting ready to start, Mara noticed, though he always did want to wait a little longer. More so today. Turnout wasn't what it had been a few months ago, the last time the Underground had staged something big. The Underground's success and size waxed and waned, but both had peaked enough times that another peak wasn't outside the realm of possibility. As ever, there was reason for hope.

Mara slipped through the growing crowd and approached a trim, professionally-dressed brunette woman. "Senator Teigra?" she said quietly. "I'm Mara D'Lessio Merrill. The General wanted me to touch base with you about anything you might need while you're visiting us. QQ-C4TG1R15 has encrypted subspace and hypercomm, refuel and refit capacity, and secure quarters at your disposal." She smiled. "As well as a mainframe's worth of briefing material, and enough executive summaries to answer any question you've got."

Was that "Catgirl" space? The Redneck had only visited that sector of the Galaxy once and it was during a raid on a valued world full of phrik with the One Sith. The loyalties of Vilaz were...strange as a mercenary, of course. He fought for the One Sith just to exact true justice and vengeance on the corrupted Galactic Republic, and then he helped the cause of the rebels of the Underground to rid of imperial governments such as the First Order and the One Sith. His true loyalties lied with the Clans, but other than that he fought for the One Sith one day and the next day he was supporting the cause of the Underground.

But now was not the time to talk about loyalties and such. Now was the time to talk about exterminating the remnants of the Order of the Black Rose and everything that pertained to it, such as the Croa virus that turned normal sentients into cat figures and creepy ones too.

He stood next to the giant Wookie, [member="General Beyyr"], and awaited for the instigator of the meeting to start off with a speech of why this meeting was taking place and what outcome was expected from it. The Underground waned for several months now, but one should worry when rebels like these were quiet and not making an awful lot of noise like they used to.

For several weeks now all that Kira had heard was the same old tune played by the seven piece band in the corner of the Leaning Elope. She had hoped that at least for one night they would have expanded their playing horizons past the same beat and delved into something at least slightly different, but no. That was beyond their skill set.
Yet each night she listened, always with a drink in one hand and her credits in the other awaiting the same signal that had never come like the good little rebel she was. Each night had been exactly like this one, lonely, boring and increasing her bar tab beyond payable.

The Leaning Elope itself was a bar beyond what most would understand, an old bulk carrier that had been docked in the same place so long it perhaps would never leave. The original hanger space now overtaken by rows of rough tables and chairs. A whole side was given up to the bar itself that was ran by a small little alien known only as Newka the Scribe, an old wizened creature of mysterious origins who was a blast to have long winded conversations with. The other side was taken up by the monotone band and the rest filled with patrons of every race and walk of life imaginable.

For Kira it had become a home away from the Millennium Falcon, Newka having taken a keen interest in the young salvager and putting her fast into the list of privileged few who got her full attention. Yet tonight it would all change as on her belt a small ping sounded and suddenly Kira the salvager found herself once more flung into the world of Kira the Rebel.

To get to the meeting had not taken her long, in fact it had been pure luck that she had even been on the same planet as the other agents, but luck was always a good sign in her book.
Entering the meeting she took position around the holo-table with slight nods to those in attendance, all known by face as she was to them.
This was the Underground and Kira, like those around her were all dedicated to the cause, a cause she had never seen herself falling into.

Open Rebellion.

"Grrwarr."

A translation droid hovered near Beyyr's shoulder. Eyes glowing with enthusiasm, it levitated a little higher and amplified its voice. "General Beyyr welcomes you all and thanks you for the risks you took in your journey here."

Beyyr pounded his chest. "Chuffchuffchuff."

"It does his heart good to see so many resistance fighters willing to put their lives on the line."

"Awrooofuf."

"If you'll turn your attention to the hovering holographic map, you'll note the territory of the Covenant of the Black Rose."

"Churro."

"Though this territory has gone to great lengths to rehabilitate its public image, likely to gain protection through attempted friendship with the Republic, it remains a despotism with a nefarious history. Of our target nations, they are the only one that is currently unopposed. We have been in contact with local resistance groups."

"Hurkhurkhurk."

"General Beyyr urges you to consider the question at hand: to your knowledge, what assets can we bring to bear? Do we have, at this stage, the ability to commit to liberating a portion of Black Rose territory? If so, can each of you realistically offer your full commitment to this endeavour?"

J'ohnn leaned over and whispered, "Wookiees have a wonderfully efficient language."

Kate shot him another glare, then spoke up, voice calm, cold and commanding. "The Heralds of Chaos can field one Privateer-class frigate and a Peregrine pocket carrier."

If only she knew how those words, spoken in that manner, made her grandfather smile in his grave.

"If interdiction's the game, Heralds are the name," said her Duros communications officer with a friendly grin.

"Ah... I, Bryce Bantam of Biitu have a ship. Well it is smallish. I mean no where near the size of that frigate or carrier thing she was talking about. Not really armed either, but it's all I got and it is at your service... That is if you want it" BB said realizing how foolish he just sounded.

"Nice Kid, real inspiring stuff." Lass said sarcastically into BB's ear piece.

BB now dejected sat back down in the back hoping to avoid any more attention less he be further ridiculed.

Blue-eyes beneath glass lenses screwed-up like she was eating some sour knock-off Corellian candy-chew. It seemed the shorter the general's words, the longer the translation. Wookie was harder to learn than code. Data and widgets! Thank the darknet for translator droids.

A finger went up to push the glasses up the bridge of her nose, more out of habit than necessity.

"I've got my ship, the Flying Nuna. And you've got access to my database of IFF codes. And we'll, you've got me."

In wookie, that would probably have been something like: rahhhgawr muff.

Probably with a few more muffs.

Rekha finally slipped into the meeting looking around for any familiar faces, there weren't many except sparkler [member="Spark Finn"] the other she had worked closely with were all gone now.

"I have a freighter that will make the trip, General" She smiled as she leaned against the wall, blaster on her hip, boots to her knees, and her family off white shirt with tan vest, yep...she could fly a little.

She had flown fighters to at one time, she could do that if need be. But that she didn't own.

After the Wookie introduced himself, gave the intent of this meeting, and asked for what the present members could tribute to this operation against the Covenant of the Black Rose many began to speak and offer how much they can give for this operation. Many didn't had much as this was a ragtag diversed resistance group which heavily consisted of smugglers, Rogue Force-Users, veterans of war, politicians, etc. But that wasn't the case for Vilaz. After training the Republic's clone army, completing bounties, killing a Hutt and stealing its company and transferring its credits to his bank account, and fighting for foreign factions as a paid soldier he had a lot of money and resources he wouldn't mind giving to the Underground.

"Well, you've got me. I can rally some Mandos and help us out, I've got my ship, I've got my bank account, and I plan on making some toys for us so we don't become some nasty cat beings."

Some would take this as bragging of what he's got under his belt, but he wasn't. The Redneck was only offering the things he had for this operation in hopes of liberating the people of the Covenant of the Black Rose from their cat leaders.

Everyone had something to bring to the cause, some more, others less. It was the typical display of such things, Rebellions were by nature a pool of resource put together in the best hope of making something special.

Kira stood forward, leaning her weight on the holotable as she did. The Black Rose territory was deep in the reaches, hard to navigate and easy to get lost within, yet everyone seemed so happy about going. To be honest the excitement was there, an explorer's trait she supposed.

"I'll provide the Falcon for the cause." She played her card, listing the legendary ship and her services to the Undergound, she just hoped it would be enough.

"Grrwarr."

"General Beyyr is heartened by your commitments. In consultation with Alec Rekali, the noted explorer of the Kathol Outback, he has drafted a plan that should put your unique ships to good use."

"Durrhurrhurr."

"Ladies and gentlemen, over the next several months, we will liberate Demonsgate and the entire Kathol Outback."

Raachwaroo

Furred Fister, Brown Boxer
Coming in rather unfashionably late because of some things that had come up leaving him to sleep in, with his only partner here being Byrce the fifteen year old could've done very little. Now present following the path BB had taken through a droid's tracker. Seeing the hologram and full group of people made him a little nervous, especially at the sight of a much larger silverback in the room. Introducing himself in the only language,

"GRRRAaaagh OouRi!" Or a less concise, 'Hello all I'm Raachwaroo, companion and ally to Red Friend.' His Native tongue he understood may not be known by everyone but he felt the need to explain himself for interupting. As he mentioned this mysterious 'Red Friend' he pointed to BB before continuing.

"Braahhn RochENE!" Translated to, 'I met Red Friend on Biitu and am willing to follow The Underground.'

"RaddanRa." Meaning, 'I cannot fight well with a blaster, though I have used my fists to save his life as I will yours comrades.' Now standing quiet hoping that at least the Wookie knew Shyriiwook.

Late to the party, well, actually - this was the first party Ria had been to, ever. The young slicer quietly side stepped in behind BB, who she was still thankful for helping to bust her out of Nar Shaddaa. EM-4 still rested in pieces back on the ship, but she supposed that now she was beyond the reaches of Sotta she could start to put the little probe droid back together. The blonde quietly sat watching and listening as people spoke, Wookies. She heard of them but rarely saw them, still, she craned her head to get a better look at them. She quite literally had no idea what was going on, all this talk of rebellions and fighting - all she wanted to know is if there was going to be food at the end of all of it. Or better food than the vertical city had provided. Black Rose. There was a name she didn't quite like to hear, but there it was none the less, mhmm there was another blonde - slicer at that.

Huh, well, it wasn't as if slicing was all that difficult it was a bit more tedious but then that was her opinion. A life on Nar Shaddaa and you get well acquainted with out different gangs and crews move about the holonet. Everyone leaves a pattern, everyone leaves a trail there's not a single being that doesn't. Not even a Sith. Another wookie spoke, this time speaking using their fists. Which caused her to smile, no one used their fists on the smuggler's moon. "I haven't got a ship or anything, but I've got a probe droid that I've been fixing up and me, a slicer on the go." When silcing fails and droids, and enemy units are on their way, "and when all else fails, I've got my blasters." She only opened one part of her duster and then let it down. They weren't much, but they were hers. One fired ion, the other well - the other was for the more fleshy bits. She mentioned as an afterthought, clearing her throat out of her nervousness. "Oh, uh I'm a Flik- um, Ria, Ria Misrani." That would take getting use to - being able to use her real name, and not the one Sotta gave her.
